USA, Canada / Moving from United Kingdom to USA. Is it worth it? [136]

The property price is very high too. Anyway I always "loved" USA according to Hollywood films (especially with Clint Eastwood ;)

You should watch these films more carefully again. e.g someone was murdered. The crime tool is pneumatic nail gun. Conclusion: this tool is common there, it was invented because of: they are lazy|they hurry up|they build houses using timber. Beware of termites man ;)

Work / Why is Polish workmanship so bad? [52]

I'm working as an Electrician at the moment and the most important thing which people check before paying me is the fastening of sockets so I'm paying a lot attention to this part of work :) 1. It is really possible to mount socket in stupid-proof way. 2. Usually it requires buying a new modern socket housing and new socket. I suppose this guy's problem is that labour is cheap but new socket not.

UK, Ireland / Prices of Clothes in Poland and England [35]

I know a few Poles who shop for clothes in England, and whenever I fly from England to Poland, the plane is full of shopping.

Clothes are cheaper and in higher quality. I still have some from Debenhams. Not to mention about shoes. They are several times better than in PL. After spending L60-70 you are happy and not afraid of hidden surprises.

Real Estate / Question about Czynsz (Building maintenance fees/utilies) in Poland [129]

and my surprise at the fact that people just pay their czynsz /maintenance fees by receiving a bill without any explanation.

Until my czynsz (290zł pcm) is lower than Kowalski's czynsz (650zł pcm) who is living in the bulding on the other side of my street im not curious about any details. The general rule is: new building - low czynsz.

Work / Polish attitude towards promotions at work [11]

accused of thinking I am too good to work with them anymore. Is this typical response for gaining a promotion?

No. Typical response is anger (why not me, why I have to sit in this s office on the 1 floor) and jealousy.

Work / Polish salaries - New statistics [38]

that is a big surprise for me! i earn 2700zl to my hand welding

there is a demand for your work and your customer, usually a big company can buy your work but poor retired babcia can not pay more for doctor's work.

Work / Polish salaries - New statistics [38]

A read an article that Poles spend a lot of time at work but waste it on useless things.

In many workplaces we have to "steal" worktime because employer cannot deliver it in sufficient amount. We want earn more and finally leave for abroad.

Life / Are the Polish Police Gutless? [16]

Are the police that lazy?

Maybe policemen salaries are too low to risk their life.

In North America, they would be locked up at least 24 hours or until they had their chance to see a judge.

We don't have jails and judges enough I suppose. PL is quite safe country without developed locking industry ;)

Life / Are the Polish Police Gutless? [16]

I think the Poles have no respect for the police/straz mieska in general.

Straz miejska it is another story. We find them as lazy drones who get this job by nepotism.

We have no respect for the Police because we don't feel threatened by the gun crime, shooting, armed robbery etc. We forget the fact that they are needed all the time even nothing has happen yet.

Life / Are the Polish Police Gutless? [16]

Yes. I think (if whenever) violent crime in Poland increase, people will want someone to protect them. Someone who stand against the bullets.
