Life / What is the worst bank in Poland that I should avoid at all costs? [21]

Few SKOK have bankrupted and it's known that few more have bad balance sheet, so If you don't want to loose your interests (up to 100 000 eur is insured by the state) better stay away from them:

Recently this one has one of the best conditions:

Work / EU Blue Card for Poland. Which salary is needed? [47]

Blue card is a typo of Polish work permit, not a substitute of pernament residency permit. Blue card can be lost when a company fires immigrand and he is unable to find a new job.

Work / Employment prospects of a Computer Science Graduate in Poland [16]

1. It depends how good programmer you are then.
2. Yes, if you graduate Polish university then you don't need work permit in order to work in Poland. Beginners salary in the biggest cities is usually around 2000-3000PLN gross. It would help much if you had real working experience when graduating masters. Many computer science students work part time in last years or at least do summer internship. I would encourage you to work in India for at least 1 year before coming for masters in Poland. Experienced programmers earn on average 6000PLN gross. Net is 70% of gross if you wondered.

3. If you have money, then you can study in any country you want. You brother could finance your studies for example.

Study / Graduate English programs in Poland [6]

No prospects in Poland? Why would anyone go there then?

Because 3rd world countries became suddenly 1st world countries and have enough money to pay for western education. Just not every parent has enough to pay for American or British studies and they think that Polish diploma is somehow similar, just cheaper. Because Poland is in EU, neighbor of Germany, so it must be similar. Foreign Europeans and Americans are studying medicine only. It's regulated profession and everybody with Polish diploma + state exam has guaranteed job in EU. Ukrainians are exception, because they actually can improve their condition by studying in Poland. Salaries here are higher and they can easily learn the language thus have chance on job market.

But in the end Poland has the smallest number of foreign students per capita in EU, so it's not a special case.

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

Search for old topics. There were exact questions from other indians. Look up prices comparison in Numbeo.com . You will find that apartment will cost you 2000 - 2500 PLN per month and biggest expense will ne international school. Could be even 80 000 PLN per year, but rather higher classes, above Kindergarten. On other hand public schools are free and Polish private not very expensive.

Law / Taxation system in Poland? My company is cutting 38%!? [25]

Actually I've checked calculator now and it's exactly 70%. You would get 6337.15 zł net. I mentioned that employer pays more than gross salary and in case of 9000zł and "Umowa o Pracę" it's 10866zł what he would have to spend. This is the amount which you would get if you were having 1 person company. You could ask the company if they do some tax optimization, because it's possible to legally pay less taxes in Poland. (ask about " 50% koszty uzyskania przychodu" or Umowa o dzieło)

Law / Taxation system in Poland? My company is cutting 38%!? [25]

You will get around 70% of gross salary or 60% of what employer will spend on you. In Europe you pay taxes only in one country. So if you have worked for 2 months in Romania and rest in Poland then you pay Polish taxes in Poland and Romanian in Romania only.

Law / Will traffic fines law like in Finland make Polish roads safer? [21]

I think they would, but I guess there would be logistic difficulties of getting information how much a person owns. But there will be big raise of penalties for speeding in this year and new fines will be very painful, because in relation to average earnings are few times higher than for example in Germany: Speeding fines in Poland

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

A university professor told me that his salary is about 4400z

Most of professors own apartment, so don't have to pay rent. If you did not have to pay rent, then the salary would allow for quite a good live. If you have to pay 1500 out of this 2500zł net for rent, then not much is left. If you're ready to share room, then it's much better.

If you want to have comfortable move you could rent a room for the first month through: airbnb

There are few offers for around 300eur per month. When you're in Poland you can start searching for cheaper apartment advertised here:
gumtree.pl/fp-pokoje-do-wynajecia/krakow/c9000l3200208
There are 3200 rooms or shared rooms to rent advertised, but adds are in Polish and require telephone call and usually personal meeting

And maybe you can find better payed job offer here: pl.jobrapido.com/?w=grecki

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

Since when you loose salary when sick and employed with Umowa o pracę?

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

Not every employer fires their workers as soon as they get flu. Public health system is free and flu medicaments cheap, so budget wont be affected. It's different if you got freelancing offer, but I don't think you did.

A studio apartment will cost you at least 1500 PLN all inclusive on its own.

There are few offers for 1000PLN out of city center.

You would have to be pretty darn desperate to move to Poland for so little

That's true. It's not the best job, as you won't be able to save much.

I agree, that when alternative is unemployment, then it's not so bad option. As for gaining new skills, then it depends which. You can learn programming anywhere in the world. Learning new languages as well. Actually in Kraków you may have better chances of getting entry level job as a programmer than in Athens.

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

In costumer service salaries depend greatly on the languages you speak fluently. As for costs of living in Kraków it's little cheaper than in Greece, except of rents - it currently more expensive to rent in Kraków than Athens.

Law / USD shooting up so high for PLN [76]

Quite opposite. The money of few American tourists which will come to Poland because of strong USD are probably smaller that money lost by Polish tourists which will choose Greece instead of Baltic sea.

Just look here:

A study conducted in 2013 evaluated the average expenditure of tourists visiting Poland at 401 USD per person and 76 USD per day of stay (weighted averages). Comparison of the data obtained with those evaluated on the year 2012, indicates a slight decrease of average expenses per person (approx. 0.7%) and daily expenses (by about 2%); in both cases it refers to the weighted average.
Disturbing in this case is the fact that the downward trend, albeit small, remains steady since the fourth quarter of 2012.

There were 300,000 American tourists in Poland in 2013 and 5,300,000 German. American tourists are not important for the industry, except if few times more will come now.

Law / USD shooting up so high for PLN [76]

4.35 in December to 4.15 yesterday has had its effect.

EURPLN fluctuates around 4.2 since few years, so such change is nothing special. But you wrote that expensive USD is good for Polish tourist industry. But how? Most of tourists are Germans, and for them it became more expensive as you showed. The same with Russians who were substantial part of tourists to Poland. For Poles vacation in eurozone became little cheaper so that also bad for Polish tourist industry. And then you write that it's not good for export using raw material bought in Eur. But how ? You just showed that euro is cheaper that few months ago.

wrong. price in euro is not changing much. Only products imported from out of eurozone, mostly Russia and China will get more expensive.

Law / USD shooting up so high for PLN [76]

On 8th March it was up to 3.81 zł = USD $1!

10th of March and it's 3.90
As mentioned it's not a privilege of Poland, but mostly decision of Eurozone central bank. PLN to EUR is surprisingly stable in past 5 years, fluctuating max 10% away from average: stooq.pl/q/?s=eurpln&c=5y&t=l&a=lg&b=0

Work / The politics of companies in Poland about providing a relocation package for foreign workers? [8]

For example this Russian IT consulting company says:

We provide full visa and relocation assistance for you and your family. We will help you to relocate to Krakow with support for booking flights, accommodations and moving services! We offer a full relocation allowance package that includes initial accommodation expenses, real estate agency services, and compensation for tickets to Krakow.

So as people have mentioned above, if you are experienced IT specialist, then most international companies advertises some kind relocation package. You can read about it on their websites or in job offers. While if you apply to smaller company you may get nothing without asking.
