Life / Why Radosław, not Czesław? [34]

Both carry the stamp of "Roman Catholic Approved".

What? I, for one, never had such an association.

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

Vlad, I see your Kremlin overseers pay you quite a lot, enough to pollute this forum with the insane statements of yours. You are a despicable, soviet-like convoluted individual.

Law / Zloty vs US Dollar for relatives in Poland? [7]

If one has a USD denominated account in any polish bank, that should not be a problem (i.e. to receive USD from abroad). But now I'm thinking that the exchange rate used in a US bank would probably be crap compared to the rate offered locally in polish banks/kantors, so maybe it would make sense to send USD after all.....

Real Estate / Help need for choosing a neighbourhood in Warsaw [12]

In your case, I would recommend Saska Kępa (Praga side of the river, ul.Francuska and nearby) or Powiśle. Powiśle is much larger by the way, so many more opportunities for apartment hunting.

History / Polish relation about Russians, Ukrainians? [281]

Vlad123, you are a pinko red homo soveticus, you had learnt sovietlike history from soviet books, which have always lied, and you are (at best) a russified Ukrainian, but not a real one. Those Ukrainians we have historical problems with, at least are self conscious and they do not bow to Kremlin propaganda like you do.

Language / which one sounds better? widziałem/zobaczyłem [30]

widziałem is more safe for learner.

Not in this case, you are clearly wrong. The verb 'widzieć' by and large denotes ability to see. Therefore a question like Czy mogę widzieć jadłospis? would sound plainly stupid for the native polish speakers, however if used by a foreigner would be totally understood.

Life / Bishops defend Polish family [105]

I don't believe the bishops were concerned about scientific analysis or statistics for their own sake.

Oh they never are, in fact very little of they do has anything to do with reason. In this case as well.

History / Lusatia allied with Poland? [19]

Here is an inieresting chart comparing the vocabulary of the two Lusatian dialects with other Slavonic tongues:

Do not get excited Polonius. J..k off and go to bed now.

Language / kiedy i tam [14]

kiedy i tam = skoro nawet tam - if/since even there where the wizards live...

Well done, Strzyga.

Language / Polish word "no". Is it a slang word? [22]

nom

it has evolved even further.... into: niom. But that was too camp and has by now died out, mostly, as well as nom itself.

No is OK. It is simply an emphatic particle. Can replace "tak" here and there in spoken language. Totally acceptable.

Language / kiedy i tam [14]

It's only a free translation. There are better native polish speakers on this forum who probably can translate more competently into english as well. BTW, you're dealing with a rather complicated/advanced level of polish here. Congratulations!

Language / kiedy i tam [14]

Thanks to those of you who have offered to help. The complete sentence is as follows. Widziałem w przyszłości różne cuda, ale cóż, kiedy i tam, gdzie mieszkają tylko czarownicy, nie można żyć wiecznie.

You should have started with quoting this sentence at the very beginning! Now I know what your problem is re: understanding. In this case it means.

I saw various miracles in the future, but what of it, when also there, where only wizards live, one cannot live forever.

This is a piece of literary language and you can only translate it properly if context is also given. Did that translation help?

Language / kiedy i tam [14]

There is no expression: Kiedy i tam.

There is however and expression: kiedy i gdzie? Perhaps you meant that?
