I understand what these two words mean individually, but I don't understand their meaning when used together in this way. Could you help me please?

Can you show us the sentence you saw them in?
Saying just 'kiedy i tam' doesn't make much sense so translation is not possible without knowing the context they were used in.

I suspect it could be something like:

when (something happened) there too, then (something else happened)...

These kinds of short words pose a problem in many languages, and opening a dictionary won't always help. Context and slang also matter.

There is no expression: Kiedy i tam.

There is however and expression: kiedy i gdzie? Perhaps you meant that?

Thanks to those of you who have offered to help. The complete sentence is as follows. Widziałem w przyszłości różne cuda, ale cóż, kiedy i tam, gdzie mieszkają tylko czarownicy, nie można żyć wiecznie.

You should have started with quoting this sentence at the very beginning! Now I know what your problem is re: understanding. In this case it means.

This is a piece of literary language and you can only translate it properly if context is also given. Did that translation help?

That's great, thank you. To be honest it was the section ' ale cóż, kiedy i tam ' which really threw me. The rest I understood. However , those 5 words, simple enough on their own, when put together like that are quite difficult to translate I think.Eg I would never have been able to work out that ' ale cóż ' means ' what of it '. Clearly it was not difficult for you though, I bow to your translating skills.

It's only a free translation. There are better native polish speakers on this forum who probably can translate more competently into english as well. BTW, you're dealing with a rather complicated/advanced level of polish here. Congratulations!

I would say it actually means, "Nawet gdybym był osobą, z którą próbowałeś zdobyć to doświadczenie, wydarzenie, edukację lub ulepszenie... nadal zawsze przedstawiałbym siebie jako człowieka, który zdecydował się NIE dać się zepsuć, kontrolować, poczęć ani zmusić do tego żaden inny język, pamięć, lub lekcja, którą szanuję!"
