Help need for choosing a neighbourhood in Warsaw

Witaj! :)

In a few months my wife and I will be moving from Skopje, Macedonia to Warsaw. Now we are searching for an apartment and I would like to ask you for an opinion about the most convenient neighbourhood in relation to my work location.

I will be working in south Targówek, so what do you think is the best place with a balance between the work location and city center. Looking on the map, Praga seems like a good fit, but we read so many bad reviews about it, so we'll try to avoid it. Is central Targówek a good place? I'll need to use bus line 138 or 338 to reach my work location.

Also, from 17th till 26th of November we'll be visiting Warsaw for a house-hunting trip, so you could also recommend us a specific place. We are searching for a smaller furnished apartment.

Dziękuję bardzo!
Vasil

In your case, I would recommend Saska Kępa (Praga side of the river, ul.Francuska and nearby) or Powiśle. Powiśle is much larger by the way, so many more opportunities for apartment hunting.

Targowek is primarily a new area- lots of new modern flats there. Saska kepa is nice but more expensive-- everything really depends on your budget. Saska Kepa is more interesting, more artsy and a nice place where targowek is just flats and a big shopping centre. There is more to Poland than Ikea and hyper consumerism.

Powisle is perfect. It really is. Close to everything great about Warsaw. No big box shops but loads of small independent shops where people can still get everything they need. nice coffee shops- I would live there in a heartbeat.

Hey Vasilik!
Have you found an apartment already?

I have a great opportunity for you. We have just moved out from our place in Saska Kępa, ul. Niekłańska 48. I can guarantee it is a very safe localisation and a great place for you, because it's just next the trams and bus stops. Out place is fully furnished with internet and cable tv. I can send you a link with the pictures from our flat.

if you want to know more information let me know on private message.

The lease is 2600 zl/per month plus the bills for water and electricity. And if you want the cable and wifi to stay that will be another 200 zl. We can negotiate the price a bit if you are interested.

Dear Dominika!

Thanks for the offer, but we are looking something for a lower price :)

We rescheduled the trip from this month for the 2nd half of January. We'll have two weeks to find a flat so that we would start from February 1st.

Take care,
V.

I was happy living there. It's one of the most expensive areas in town though.

price

Might rule out Powisle. BTW, Praga refers to that whole side of the river, including Saska Kepa and Targowek. Think about Goclaw and Grochow - reasonably priced, decent areas and handy for Targowek.
