If one was to send some cash to relatives in Poland would the recipient likely to prefer to receive Zloty or US$?

I would prefer Zloty, but who knows what they think. USD cannot be used here unless converted to PLN.

besides, can you even receive $ or will you automatically receive PLN when someone will send you cash from the US (or any other country for that matter)?

If one has a USD denominated account in any polish bank, that should not be a problem (i.e. to receive USD from abroad). But now I'm thinking that the exchange rate used in a US bank would probably be crap compared to the rate offered locally in polish banks/kantors, so maybe it would make sense to send USD after all.....

i could be wrong but i figure that if "someone" sent (as an example) $100 USD rather than the equivilent in Zloty the recipient could find a local conversion source to get more "bang for the buck" .
