What a disgrace! PiS rulers are seriously thinking of forming a new rightwing group in the Euro Parliament. The problem is their partners are two most pro-Kremlin-oriented leaders.

Life / Territorials - Polish National Guard [57]

As for the GROT gun, there is a huge scandal going on about it now.The media revealed the gun had been ordered by the rightist Defence Minister before the testing and improvement stages were completed. The result? The gun is faulty and unreliable - to such an extent it can even hurt an operator. .

Drive through boar feeding. Poles are good-natured and never refuse when boars beg for food.

Catholic Church in Poland is like a Queen in England.

Or like an ostrich which loves burying its head in the sand when unpleasant skeletons in their closets are discussed.

Language / Polish terms for age demographic? ("Baby Boomer", "Generations X/Y/Z", "Millennials", "Post-Millennials",etc?) [12]

No, Polish adopted most of those terms. Of course, they are deflected according to the language rules: e.g., milenialsi. Generation is pokolenie in Polish - Pokolenie Y

etc)

This etcetera covers an old neologism which recently got resurected and became a fade - dziaders. It comes from dziadek - grandpa and connotes a male who doesn` t support women`s aspirations for more freedom in the oppresive patriarchal society.

I think we could translate it as grandper.

History / The restoration of Polish cities from WW2 destruction [123]

There has been still a worse fate than socialist blocks replacing old tenement houses. NOTHING! No rebuilding at all. This happened to Kostrzyń nad Odrą. Germans turned it into a fortress and defended fanatically for a few weeks. The Old Town was razed to the ground and never rebuilt.

Love / Are Polish men cold? What do they like? [33]

Or it the experience of cold weather that you were raise to talk small in conversation

Yes, we are raised to talk small because of the weather. Wintertime can be severe in Poland, you need to prepare for it before hand, gather necessary supplies like food and fuel. That is why you need to work hard throughout the warm seasons and not waste time on small talk.

But, when winter comes, you can enjoy small talk without constraint!

Polish men are cold with small talk,

You need to check them out in wintertime too. Sit by the fireplace with a glass of vodka in hand and see if they are still cold.

what tactics a Polish policeman would resort to

The Polish police most famous tactics is to escort old ladies who oppose the rightist government.

Funny video - Granny Kate walking the dogs (in uniforms). Seven of them! hahaha Benny Hill music in the background. One of the comments under the video: even in communist times the police weren`t such idiots as today during rightist rule.

Stalin took it to the next level and mastered 'the art' of genocide

His Georgian origin might have contributed to it, too. He spoke Russian with a heavy accent.

Yet, over 50% Russians today believe he was a great leader coz he made Soviet Russia a superpower.

what do they think about Lenin, Stalin, and the Soviet Union

But Stalin and other communist leaders were only another version of Russian autocratic imperialism. Stalin or tsars like Ivan the Terrible - no difference.

Law / Polish Police and Their Tactics [237]

why so many people end up dead like Floyd

In Poland the police shoot to death about 5 people yearly. Poland has 38 million. Do US police kill 50 to reach a similar ratio to Poland? I think it is many more.

Statistics for 2015 said that Polish police fired directly at people 18 times.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

I heard that American kids learn only about the USA and a few major topics like WW2 at history class in their schools.

In Poland history class is very extensive and covers a lot of topics. 15 years ago I came to a private lesson and the student informed me she hadn`t done her English homework coz she had had to study for a History test. I asked her about the topics and one of them was Garibaldi`s rebellion in 19th century Italy. I was shocked they had to learn such details in primary school.

Today it hasn`t changed much. Here is the list of "foreign" topics for 6th grade primary school (12-13 years old)

The curriculum starts with modern times:

Civilizations of America
Great discoveries
Results of discoveries
Reneissance
New religions
Counterreformation and Baroque

Europe and the world in 17th and 18th centuries:
-Economy of Western Europe
-Revolution in England
-Louis XIV absolutism
-Enlightment
-Russia, Prussia and Austria in 18th century
- The rise of the United States

French Revolution
France as a Republic
Napoleon`s Conquest of Europe

I can see the result of such approach even in the forum. Native Poles who received their education in Poland know a lot more more than other members, especially American Polonia.
