Law / Moving to Poland and start a business [16]

Well educated IT Professional shouldn't have problem finding English speaking job in Poland, as long as he is good programmer, and can apply to any city in the country. If you want to open yet another supermarket then better with some cheap British products which somehow are not here yet.

Life / Good furniture shops in Poland? [11]

"Jak sie masz" says only Borat. Searching in google maps for "meble in Kraków" and visiting stores is a good idea.

Food / What are favorite herbal teas in Poland/especially loose leaf? [15]

allegro.pl/listing.php/search?category=74038&change_view=1&order=bd&sg=0&string=herbata - it's sorted that most sold, so kind of favorite

znam.to/recenzje/8235/Herbata-czarna--Golden-Assam - I like this one. It's typical good quality black Ceylon tea. I was buying it in Tesco. It's sold with crushed or whole leaves. I believe whole leaves is better. Very good value to price ratio.

allegro.pl/turecka-herbata-czarna-lisciasta-caykur-filiz-500g-i3068781752.html - After trip to Turkey I like even more drinking Turkish tea. This brand tastes really good and authentic.

allegro.pl/yerba-mate-rosamonte-elaborada-1kg-od-skworcu-sa-i3106505747.html - If you like Mate then I can recommend Rosamonte

Real Estate / The cost of a furnished apartment near Warsaw downtown are high? Why? [42]

You should find somebody speaking polish to help you, because many owners don't know English or don't want to speak with foreigners because feeling less comfortable or because foreigner is possible harder to request compensation for damages (because can simply leave the country) I linked article about it today.

gumtree.pl/fp-dom-mieszkanie-do-wynajecia/warszawa/c9008l3200008 - if you call just added adds then chance of answer is bigger in my opinion.

Life / Request for information on Wroclaw ( housing, transportation, general day to day needs) [8]

1. When renting from owner then there is no commission, but for that Polish speaker assistance would be helpful. (you can ask your company for that) When using agency they probably charge something extra.

gumtree.pl/fp-dom-mieszkanie-do-wynajecia/dolnoslaskie-wroclaw/c9008l3200007 - here are many adds, so you may get feeling of prices. Use translate.google.com if needed.

2. I don't live in Wroclaw, but don't think so, as there are nearly no Indians in Poland.

3. Here some comparison of health systems in Europe: healthpowerhouse.com/files/Report-EHCI-2012.pdf

Poland is on 27th place in EU, so closer to bottom, but it's not tragic in most of situations. Generally Wroclaw is considered top city to live in Poland, so access to Medical services should be better than elsewhere. Regarding vaccination you should inform yourself if in Poland is used same medicine. In bad case NFZ (public health insurer) will not cover it and you will have to pay for medicine. In worst case this drug is illegal in Poland.

4. More dangerous than Munich for sure, but saver than most of American cities.
"Wrocław, like most of Poland, is a very safe city and violent crime is very rare.
You should exercise the usual caution and keep guard of your valuables especially around crowded places. In pubs and clubs better don't leave your belongings unattended." (wikitravel.org/en/Wrocław)

5. use that tool to calculate: numbeo.com/cost-of-living/comparison.jsp

One extra tip, if the company doesn't provide you any accommodation at the beginning, you can easily rent apartment through airbnb.com or 9flats.com online. Choose period of 1 month in order for prices to get little lower (some people give discounts for 1 month long renting). Usually you can rent short term apartment through these pages for only double price than normal market rental. It's still cheaper than hotel.

Real Estate / The cost of a furnished apartment near Warsaw downtown are high? Why? [42]

here you have GumTree translated by google. But don't expect people to be ready to rent you apartment online. If you don't want to pay for relocation agency you may try paying some polish speaker to help organize something for you through this website. But as always, when money involved comes problem of trust.

Or maybe don't worry so much now, rent apartment online through 9flats.com or airbnb.com for 1 or 2 months. Price should be much cheaper than paying for hotel for that time. You can further reduce price by renting in place like Pruszków next to Warsaw. Then come to Poland and search for apartment when already here. But still it would be good to have some contacts or at least dresses where to go with problems.

Here you have example search of cheap apartment in Warsaw for month May: airbnb.com/s/Warsaw--Poland?checkin=05%2F01%2F2013&ch eckout=05%2F31%2F2013&price_max=700

When booking through one of this pages your money are secure, because the company insures you, but you should search for apartment offered by people with comments, to be sure that quality is as advertised.

Law / what is the deposit amount insured in Poland by the banks [8]

I think that up to 100 000 euro per 1 person for all bankrupting banks. So it's better distribute money between few banks. So if one of them bankrupts then nothing is lost. But if 2 banks are bankrupting and in both of them you have over 100 000 euro total (for example 60 000 in 1 and 60 000 in 2nd), then your cash above 100 000 is not insured ( up to 20 000 can be lost).

If it's not correct please correct me.

Life / Life in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland [2]

Could you give me link to pictures presenting fast whole city of Banglore? I was watching on skyscrapercity.com office parks of international companies in Banglore and they looked impressive. I have college from there and would like to know how city looks also out of IT parks.

Your question is very general. Starts from reading:
wikitravel.org/en/Poland
wikitravel.org/en/Warsaw
and maybe
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warsaw

You don't have to remind all the time that Warsaw is in Mazowieckie voivodship, as there is only one Warsaw in Europe ;)

Poland has the smallest number of immigrants in Europe. So don't expect meeting many Indians. On the other hand the biggest number of foreigners live in the capital.

For polish food you can watch random youtube recipes: youtube.com/results?search_query=Poland+Cuisine

Schools are payed from taxes and thus free. But for polish/EU nationals, don't know about immigrants.

Don't think there is racism at work, because we have no foreigners ;) Anyway I don't think that people in IT are racists, as it's international work. You can ask more specific question to get more specific answers.

Work / what jobs are needed in poland right now?? where to study university? [12]

Uniwersytet Jagielloński is top in Poland but according to rankings it's 2nd league in Europe (universityrankings.ch/results?control=1&ranking=Shanghai&region=World&year=2012&q=Poland ~350 place in the World) If you want to do international carrier in science, better don't do PHD in Poland as it's mostly worthless in the west. And you study International Relations. What a wise choice :)

Work / Ukrainian Software Developer moving to Poland - job and salary with my experience? [15]

Just start applying and you will see. I think there are many positions where knowing of Polish language is not necessary.
In this post I linked to salaries in IT:

remember about 30- 40 % difference between gross and net pay.
I think that for most companies your teaching experience will be disadvantage, except if you're planing to teach here. As to PHD it depends if the topic was relevant to the business of company. Anyway for some companies it could be plus, suggesting that you're smart person, for other just less real working experience.

Should be very easy to find any job for a polish person with your experience. I don't know how companies are ready to ask for Visa for you and this could be working against. But perhaps you could find a job through this 6 months in a years working permission for Ukrainians (Is IT included to that? ) and then when you work for them and see that you're good will request for Visa for you.

Register on goldenline.pl and linkedin.com, as location write Kraków, and start asking headhunters on this sites. Fill there your experience, and maybe they will contact you.

Start sending your cv to adds offered on job portals:

google.pl/search?q=praca+w+it+polska
google.pl/search?q=praca+w+polsce

Probably Skype interviews are possible and then you can see (by number of invitation to interviews) how wanted worker you are and how much salary you may demand. And remember that there are substantial differences in salaries depending on city what you can read in my 1st link here. Good luck and have fun :)

I am quite sure that if you get working visa then your wife gets one automatically also. Ask polish embassy in Ukraine.

Law / As a foreigner non EU citizen working in Poland, can I get visa for my spouse? [34]

It's important that to get working visa you should fill application the latest 45 days before of the end of your tourist visa.

And here you have what the company has to do in order to get such vias for you:

"The first step that the employer should do is to post a vacancy in the press. A similar application must be lodged with the employment office. The offer must be available at the office at least one week. -We then give an opinion that there is no suitable candidate for Polish citizens. "

centrumkarier.org.pl/legalna-pracaprocedura-uzyskania-zezwolenia-na-prace

I think the best if you call embassy and write the answer here for us, because I cannot find anything in the Internet concerning dependent visa to Poland.

Work / Ukrainian Software Developer moving to Poland - job and salary with my experience? [15]

Yeah, that's true. According to:

payscale.com/research/UA/Country=Ukraine/Salary
payscale.com/research/PL/Country=Poland/Salary

IT salaries in Ukraine are even higher than in Poland. How accurate is this data? Also I've heard that in Belarus IT salaries are quite good, because employees of IT sector doesn't have to pay income tax and Ukrainians can work in Belarus without Visa.

blog.ciklum.com/2012/07/it-salaries-in-ukraine-may-2012/ - another link also suggests that it doesn't have sense for Ukrainians to emigrate. What percentage of gross salary is net in Ukraine, let's say from 2000 USD per month?

Law / Taxes for Sp. z. o. o. in IT area [13]

In the link you quoted is written:

C.Osoby zagraniczne inne niż wymienione powyżej w pkt A i pkt Bmają prawo do podejmowania i wykonywania działalności gospodarczej wyłącznie w formie spółki:

- komandytowej,
- komandytowo-akcyjnej,
- z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością i
- akcyjnej

more about them here: pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sp%C3%B3%C5%82ka

and here poland.gov.pl/Pozwolenie,na,prace,7037.html is written:

Cudzoziemiec, może ubiegać się o wizę i prawo do pobytu trwającego dłużej niż 12 miesięcy w następujących sytuacjach:
(...)
prowadzi działalność gospodarczą,
(...)

So logical conclusion is that if you create one of "spółki" mentioned above, then you get permit to stay.

But because Poland is not popular immigration destination, neither tax heaven and politics don't want to promote immigration, it's very hard to find any clear information about this topic. It should be all written and describe on ministry of foreign affairs websites... but isn't.

"why would only Sp. z. o. o be available to non EU?"
To hinder creation of cheap one person "dzialalnosc gospodarcza" and then providing cleaning or construction services, as many Polish people were doing in Germany before full opening of their work market.
