And my attitude on my own government where I was born (which as someone close to her tsalagi family has extra distrust of) has no bearing on my view of Polish government which I really do not have an opinon on nor comment on here. I don't judge my opinion of foreign governments on media hype, So in general do not make strong opinions about governments where I did not see local politics in action or live under the rule of. I do like hunting, mostly large game that isn't simply 3 bites worth. I do not know what Poland's crime rate is in a realistic term other than much lower at present. I do not know what it will be in 5 years or so. Since there is not a rampant drug problem or cartel/gangs at present, I may very well not wish to have a handgun once I am there and settle.Specially since he really wants to live in the country.

Realistically, the only people I'd need a handgun against are those who would use their own, likely illegal handgun to accost me in some way with. any other weapon it would take a big man with equal skills to take me down.

I do not trust mine regardless of party in power. I firmly believe that if some of the more serious final safeguards were removed...we would have a Presidente' for life within 10 years. Or lose our sovereignenity in silent paperwork by some unremovable administrator.

I know my Honey is a little unsettled, in his plan to live here, on the ease of obtaining and hiding firerams here. And boggles at the number of various weapons in my possession.

As for me..I will keep mine.

I used to go with Canook buds to Whistler when I was in WA state. I raced a few too. Though I would use non-confrontationaland MELLOW with capitol M; I never detected anything like an inferiority conplex. Some of the East Coast canadians that were AZ snowbirds were kinda insufferable, but I always found Canadians to be congenial folk like Dakotans.

Never noticed any racist tendencies.
I did notice a lot of them in that particular circle..genX or Xgame types; are Potheads like many granola crunchers from the Northcoast US west. I do mean a LOT.

If you dont mind cold..want stable lackluster healthcare and a slower pace of life..I'd pick Canada. Specially if you are avid woodsman/hunter.

I must live in an alternate dimension U.S. last 40 years then. I have lived East -West -North- and South when in country. I am mostly of Bohemian(now Czech) ancestry born in Texas btw.

Hmmm..I think key term is "factory made".

With so many special diets and food allergies in the house; I try to keep my packaged items minimal..though I do get microwave popcorn because I am so fail at popping natural ...

All that mention of pickled.. cabbage... and fish made me hungry. I don't mind exciting counterpoit now and then but I mostly prepare meals that are fresh, simple, hearty, quick to prepare & plain enough for any family member to eat.

I have to really search to find proper cured foods that use salts and not nitrate/nitrites. only thing I like more than pickles is sausages.

When she got pregnant 2 years later when a sudden trip had her unable to fill prescription. He beat her constantly when he found out (so says his sisters, friends as well as MIL). Then he wanted abortion because physician worried one of her "falls" may have done damage. And then was angry because coerced sex got her pregnant again before she was eligible for birth control again. He threw her out of house and divorced her the week the youngest was in daycare. Used her 'homelesness' as his tool for custody.

My own X was angry when my 13th pregnancy (I miscarried often..mostly for physical duress) arrived ; his mother whisked me away on a "vacation", gave him the bird (she remarried wealth and her kids who sadly hated her, licked her arse to get their shares) and I enjoyed a mostly problem free pregnancy.

My youngest child was concieved past three forms of birth control(was on set 3 of Depo shots. technically I am not supposed to even use hormones because my blood disorder. I liked and wanted kids so sterilization was not MY option. I did every other thing in my power to avoid it).

My middle child was after my x-spouse had first vasectomy (yes genetically his and I was on Ortho 777). He also was one who said I did it on purpose. 0_0

my point of sharing this personal information is that truth is stranger than fiction... never say never.... for every stereotype story there is the ones that did not follow any norms. OP says her man said to effect "we can have kids in about 5 years". From my bias, different from those expressed previous; I suspect this was a trick to get her best years...what he really meant was NEVER. Oh gee-Lucky him, he ALREADY has children so doesn't need more or care. It would behoove him to marry a hard worker -sans children- since all their joint resources (tho he seems to make plenty) would be going to support his former family (nice..not!) still giving him a bed warmer, cook, maid and errand runner with attractive looks to rub in Ex's face. And someone dependent on him as far as communication and transport local.

I can understand about not wanting to "return home", specially if not been there for some time. I am currently in location where I spent teen years to tie up some business. And I despise it as much here in podunk now, as I did as teen. Define "go back home". Being born somewhere does not make it necessarily "home".

If you are not 'returning' to open loving arms and understanding from a parent or generous sibling..why buy further stress? Why go back? None can abuse your inner soul harsher than blood kin. Is old home a better place for a mixed child? Or new home?

Plus leaving before divorce/mediation/separation makes her "abandoning him" giving him more rights to do wrong by her. While she is trying to establish a stable presence "back home" she will be a no_show for court since she is not likely to get due process while "unaddressable". She could lose alimony, support..even custody itself! How awful to have him come with an int'l warrant to take her new born baby after struggling alone in pregnancy? Not even knowing he had won such a decree (My X tried this but FAILED and I beat his sleazy arse with no lawyer in court...but it was not easy and I had NO savings years after. I can't imagine how waiting on Visas would have effected my outcome).

Call me a paranoid. but being on my toes has me ready to fight every non jurisdictional hearing that crops up every 2 years. Maybe her guy is not that low...maybe he is lower. Most of my friends in MMOs speak passable accented to very good english in Ventrillo, Skype, and Other Voip supported programs. And many are from Russia, Hungaria, some Polish, and the region. And they are usually undetectable in chat communication (since who uses proper syntex or grammar in Forums on the average?)

And many are self-taught and ended up preferrring to be on North American/UK servers (more populous and more avaialable servers with quicker repair) despite the inevitable lag. Over the past two years my Hungarian friend's spoken has caught up with his written just chattering in Vent once he felt brave enough to join in verbally. Though the median age of the communicators is between 14-25 we have a few junior members in our PvP league and the RP players has a handful of English speakers in 40s (Polish and Czech mostly, 1 Russsian and one Slovak)

My question..how many countries even HAVE this type of law that happen to have these legions of native Polish, using their mighty buying power of their current coinage to illegally obtain fine antiques? What double standard?

Are you taking specifically of import /export law? Or the raping of national treasures (regardless of tatty post war condition) to make ..PROFIT. Using western economic strength to make a predatory market because inability to pay fair market price? Or straight up raping of antiquities?

My maternal grandfather was Import /Export dealer in rare items and coins.Every true foreign antique we have left from him has paperwork trail.

Very FEW countries even have such a law..usually ones that have been rolled over and sacked constantly so have so very little of their precious past. Obtaining anything illegallly is WRONG. Especially to float a business. Ethically , morally and of course by law.

So point out the NATIVE polish ring of antique thieves that operate in countries desparate to hold to treasures like Iran, Afghnastan, Egypt. The Syrian war is directly connected to illegal antiquities trade. And there was a reason for agreements like the flawed old GATT as well as it's replacement VER. To protect countries newly opened into Int'l market from predation from richer countries is just ONE. A sovereign nation has the RIGHT o make whatever law they like in their borders. If you break it in their borders you area criminal. No matter how large or small the offense. I doubt any WTO data shows Poland as some major offender in antiquities theft. But I will look into it in normal hours (am up to take allergy med)

If one is worried about police or customs, then one is intending to obtain things they should not have. I have a personal disgust against the type of people who look for illegal baragins of heritage pieces. Plenty of interesting stuff to buy the right way. And if real? it should never be let go 'cheap". I have no qualm against obtaining an older, well made piece of furnishing or art/jewelery type of antique. Even older pieces, if obtained legal with proper tariffs..regardless of "fairness" .

Looking for bargians in illegal antiquities is neither cute, amusing or even clever. It is all just wrong.
And fuels events like happened to my family personally.
A business acquaintance of my grandfatehr hired thugs to rob my father's house to get Stewart linked possessions he heard about in passing casual conversation and THIS: And other antiques, but THESE were personal heirlooms that would have become nameless "finds" had they slipped past the (?French..I think it was? this was 70s) border after the reports. It was luck and a sniffy official and a squealing hireling. He was caught selling these items on the sly market. And damn straight we PROSECUTED!

What a funny subject.

My family has always used more holes for salt... grandparents and down. 2 grandparent sets used grinders for pepper and it is less obvious.

All my containers in house presently-especially disposable picnic sets..have 4 or less holes for pepper and 5-8 for salt; with exclusion of sea salt in grinder and Grandma Weis's pepper grinder. (US. One set is Morton's =other local store brand Winn Dixie).


I thought I did that because of my OCD wish to ensure no debris of ANY kind is left on dishes. I scrub with soapy scrubber and rinse in hot side only running water to rinse throroghly to squeaking before putting to dry and on shelf. My mom didn't but her mom and my dad did.

Edit..BTW: none of them are polish ..

seems surreal at times.

We are aligned near perfect and complimentary in the gaps. We were friends as close as skin and now betrothed. We plan carefully.
He is the Polish.I am the "other". A mix of Bohemian, Portuguese, Cherokee and Scottish. English was my third language before age 5.(I think English is his 4th?)

I like his pragmatic, practical direct ways, it suits my Asperger's very nicely. Yet conversely; even though abrupt with familiarity, he is poster boy of good manners. Always: Would you mind? Will this be alright? He asks 'permission' to sleep when in middle of migraine ^_^.

Yet under all his cynical pessimism is a firey romantic. I certainly enjoy being "beloved" "sweetest""cherished" and occasionally "my queen" "my lady" and "kochanie".

We have a couple of minor misunderstandings but they even out quickly since we are both pushy, were trolly buds too long to stand on "girl/boy rules. I definitely like my Wadusili's looks even if he is a tad thin (that can be corrected ..heh)

When that date site thread was up front page; I was tempted to looksee and clicked. I was looking to see how many looked like my guy... even a little bit- maybe 1 in every 40?

It was uncanny how alike all these guys in a 20 year age range looked. Specially on polish hearts? was it? Most nice looking (least those that dared pics). To me, they seemed germanic looking in the selection. Nice faces, sturdy builds, ashen blondes or that dark color blondes turn when older.

None quite my type enough to set my heart a flutter, but I don't think I would kick nary a one outta my bed for eating crackers if I were single.

So yes, I generally find men of Polish ancestry handsome. I especially like the type (whichever region) Polish guys that have that really golden color to hair and complexion.

I am most attracted to certain slav and northern Eu descent guys anyway (Polish mixes, russian, dutch, one part norwegian and a tiresome Bavarian were my guys til I got me a purebred from the Podlaskie North) I find the light eyes pale tones of Polish guys more magnetic than like my own Bohemian kin who are darker hued.. and shorter usually ( I like my fella taller than my 5'8).
