Has anyone been to:

La Rotiserrie Restaurant in Hotel Le Regina

If you've ever been to them, please tell me how it was. What food was there, what was the atmosphere, how much was the bill, etc.

It'd be super cool, thanks!

Polonia / Do Polish immigrants support Polish products? [8]

Too bad Poland doesn't manufacture and export more expensive products

Poland does manufacture Dell computers and Fiats.

But beyond that, yeah I think the Polish diaspora buys Polish products when they can (vodka and beer are tops, but if they can get their hands on pottery, cheeses, kielbasy, etc. they will.)

Food / What's your favorite Polish coffee? [73]

It's 90% instant.
Of all the stuff I love about Poland, I think its coffee selection in stores sucks.
It's more of a tea culture.

UK, Ireland / The secret Polish gay men in the U.K [133]

I heard that a lot of gays and lesbians did flee Poland to go to the UK and elsewhere. Crazy stuff.

Food / Polish Preserves, any recipes? [14]

Mash up the fruit. Throw in a couple of cups of sugar and boil it all.
Put the hot mass into jars and seal them with lids. Cool.
You now have jam in airtight jars!

News / WHY DOES POLAND BUY GAS FROM RUSSIA? [105]

Oh, those Ruskies, they wave their fingers at everyone over gas. One day, it's going to come around and bite them right in the ass.

Yeah, shale gas might be a boon for Poland, but it'll be years before there are enough wells up and running. (Plus they need to verify that there's enough to heat Polish homes.)

Travel / Best Gessler Restaurant in Poland [9]

I just looked it up on the Interbutts. Apparently Magda owns it.

I'll try to hit more of them up sometime, once I get more money though.

History / GdaƄsk, Danzig: Was prince Mieszko the first to land there? [32]

It was a Slavic settlement at first. It was a German city for about 700 years. The Germans were really the ones who developed it and grew it in size and importance (same with Szczecin.)

Shhhhh… you hear that? *tap*tap*tap* That's the millions of Poles who will reply angrily, with angst-ridden messages and torrents bitter hate!

History / Give back Lwow to Poland and Kaliningrad to Germany - is it possible? [198]

Kaliningrad is the most fortified place in Europe and Russia's only western port that doesn't risk freezing over in the winter; they're not going to give it up without a fight (literally.)

Ukraine doesn't even want to give the Crimea back to Russia, so they probably aren't going to hand over Lwow. Also, Germany would probably want Wroclaw and Szczecin back (amongst other cities.)

Travel / Best Gessler Restaurant in Poland [9]

I've been aiming to go there (best tartar in Warsaw, I hear tell.) But also, it's expensive like all ****.

She is a fat, critical bi*ch! Sorry, I don't go to places where toffie-nosed snobs rule the roost.

There are two of them, you know. Right? Besides, the food is awesome.

Most likely place to visit: Przekaski Zakaski. Good food, ****** (but cheap cheap cheap) drinks. I like the radio station they have in there too.

Travel / Best Gessler Restaurant in Poland [9]

As we all know, the Gesslers are at war. I've only been to two of their places (Qchnia Artystyczna and Przekaski Zakaski.)
They're both different, but good.

I was wondering if anyone else has been to Gessler restaurants (Magda's or Marta's). Any recommendations?

News / The sale and drinking of alcohol has been banned in Warsaw and Krakow on weekends! [30]

Hey, I'll be in Warsaw tomorrow reporting about the whole memorial. I think the prohibition is partly for mourning, partly for crowd control (like at ball games where they stop selling beer after the 7th inning.)

Plus, everyone rides free tomorrow on the public transportation!

News / Kaczynski to be buried at Wawel ?! [289]

Well, isn't this a contentious issue? I'm have mixed feelings about this whole thing (and I'm quite surprised that he would be buried there.)
