Food / What is your favorite Polish Vodka? [653]

I am not a great fan of spirits.
My daughter bought me a bottle of Jack Daniels for Christmas and though I like it, half the bottle is still in my cupboard.
When it comes to wodka, I have to say that I am not a great fan of this high alcohol, low flavour spirit.
But if forced to chose I would go for Zubrowka every time!

I have to agree, Polish cakes are superb.

Although German, French and Italian are very good too.

Polish cheesecake is the best in the world!
Even my non Polish wife learnt to cook it beautifully, with some help from some of my Polish Aunts......

Language / Is the term 'Polak' derogatory?? [254]

Johhny uses it against me quite often when he intends to abuse me.

He does, because he is a dumb ass racist Yank who hates Poles.
But I have never felt the term Polack to be insulting.
It's what we Poles call ourselves.
If somebody calls me a stubborn Polack I feel pride!

..I personally find this Forum gives a very negative image of Poland.
I no longer have the slightest desire to visit Poland

It does and one of the main reasons is Yanks like you pretending to be Polish when actually, you hate Poles!
Thank God that you will never visit Poland!

I'm afraid I would get bored rather quickly in Poland.

I think that Poles would bore of your American Superiority Complex even sooner.

But thanks for admitting at last that you have never been to Poland.....or even to Europe....you would change your mind if you visited Europe.

bilingualism among the goral

Interesting question.
Although most Gorals identify as Polish, some are Czech and some Slowak.
Both of those languages are a considerable influence, especially Slowak.
But these people all understand Polish perfectly, even though some Poles may struggle to understand them.

, there is no desire as far as I can see to turn Poland into the US.

And no need either.
We don't have the level of violence and crime that the US has.
JR Jim repeatedly refused to answer my question "why does the US have so many violent drug addicts?" I can't answer why they have so many drug addicts, but the violence is purely down to their accessibility to guns.....
