Love / Woman 28 single, too late for a relationship with a Polish man? [67]

nope, somehow still valid.
would you date 30 yo woman who have never been in serious relationship? sure, if she would be nice, why not. so would I. but I would still somehow wonder about it (and no, I wouldn't let it to poison the new relationship).

if by the age of 28 woman had no previous relationships lasting longer than 2 years, than one could either suspect her choice of mates, or that there are some issues with her.

however, life is life, 28 is not too late to start new relationship. you can wait start buying cats when you will turn 40 ;)

Love / What do you like most about Polish girls? :) [120]

What's wrong Rumcajs, they didn't want to be "jebane" by you? lol

nah. tbh I try not to date Polish, or Russian, girls (not too mention that since I've been lucky enough to meet a lovely local lady I date no-one else anymore)- life is too short to serve a princess.

And the other half is what? "Dojebane chłopki"?

not being a princess doesn't make a dyke.
Good thanks most local girls (especially those older than 26, which is sort of youngest age for me) are normal, don't think about themselves as princesses and don't behave like one. also, don't require you to treat them that way; instead they treat others as peers.

Sometimes I wish Polish women would come here and for a change share their thoughts about Polish men.

oh, that could be interesting.

...

good for you and for her.
I have a different experience, half of the girls (late 20'- early 30') I met are niedojebane księżniczki

Work / South African wants to move to Poland, please provide some input? [59]

Involved in social setting = more likely to date

you are aware that bridge language between SA citizen and Polish one would be English, not Afrikaans? No-one in Poland will learn Afrikaans when they could learn, much easier due to much greater availability of learning materials + its dominance in the popular culture- English.

Poles would probably benefit far more from competent English instruction from a truly BILINGUAL South African with both Afrikaans and English as a mother tongue:-)

Oh, I totally agree. I just find Afrikaans as a great introduction to the Germanic languages. Better (but that's my personal bias) than English.

And Dutch (combined with Afrikaans) has a greater amount of speaker than Nordic languages.

Then I am an idiot too who was able to retire at 50, on the back of learning programming, Ignorance is bliss.

Do you honestly think that teaching kids C++ will make everyone a programmer? not even great, but half-decent one?
No- there are people who will benefit from it, but most people won't care.
You can teach children algorithms and logical thinking without the use of computer.

"Teaching Afrikaans to Polish students"

What for? So they can have chocolate babies?

you are an idiot if you think that learning new language = getting pregnant.

They should be learning Computer programming languages.

again- if you think that most people will actually benefit from learning programming languages than you are what I've written above.
Algorithms- yes, that's the thing that people actually benefit from.

This is the future, especially with our "low birth rates".

no "low birth rates" but low birth rates. at least in Poland; in normal countries Poles do have a normal birth rate.

Learn Chinese or hell even Arabic with the direction our Western neighbors are going.

Which Chinese? Which Arabic? (ok, I had to answer for that rant)

Afrikaans? Haha they planning on working at a refugee camp

Afrikaans is quite nice language that could work as an introduction to the Germanic family.
Actually, I prefer it much more over Dutch or German- much more simpler, much more cleaner. It's relationship with Dutch is similar of the Tajik and Persian (while we are at "simple" languages).

It would be funny to hear your rationale for foreigners (not living in Poland) to learn Polish, instead of- much more useful- Russian or even Czech.

I actually enjoyed the Ukrainian lass's performance.
Her, Austrian and Spanish were the ones I'd enjoy (with the latter ones much lighter and dancy)

Love / Hispanic girl Polish guy [9]

Plainly non sense.

elaborate

And even more ridiculous to suggest, like you do, that you should give priority to a girlfriend instead of your OWN FAMILY.

if she is your wife, she is your family. what if you have kids- do you still think that you own your parents more than you own to your children? or that you should stick to your older ones (in the unlikely chance you would have a choice children vs parents)?

Oh, i am so not surprised that a british come here trying to desqualify the traditional family and the love and respect for parents.

love to your parents is a one thing, living in their shadow is another.
as much as I would love my parents to like my partner (happily, they do) I wouldn't chose them (i.e. partners) using the "will my mum like her?" criterion

If he would do anything for his parents, than i can say that chances are that he is a good man.

... or that he still didn't sever his umbilical cord, and still hides behind her dress (so to speak).

A Man that valuate his parents above any other human being (including girlfriend or wife) is a real man. Same can be said for woman.

no, he is definitely not a "real man". You don't chose your parents, they may be nice or be arseholes... you do, however chose your partner (to some extent)- and he (she) is the one you should "stick to". Not to mention that valuing his parents over his children ("any other human being"- remember?) is just a plain stupidity

History / Greater Poland Uprising (1918-1919) [10]

Merged: 97th Anniversary of Greater Poland Uprising (Powstanie Wielkopolskie)

97 years ago another uprising started- it was different than others, because it actually succeeded without costing thousands of Polish lives; that's also one of the reason it's almost a forgotten anniversary; clearly celebrating catastrophes (like Warsaw Uprising etc) committed without much thinking is a much better thing to do than to celebrate actual victories.

History / Whom do the people in Poland hate more: Germans or Russians? [869]

We don't like Germans because they have been murdering us and stealing from us since the beginning of time and because they are stiff

that's a ******** talking. apart from partition (and, of course, last war) borders between Poland and Germany was a pretty stable one- especially when compared to the east borders of Commonwealth!

but they still our sister soul,

ah, that mysterious, always drunk "sister soul" of slavs..

we like Russians but not always their governments.

which was always eagerly supported by the "average Ivan". what's the Putin's support about the Ukraine situation? 85%? 90%?

Language / What computer keyboards are in use in Poland? [34]

I don't understand why there is no Polish keyboard...

there was.
but better one won the market.

@Polonius3
good luck with programming on the Polish QWERTZ keyboard.

but frankly speaking, I'd love it much more if the Colemak/Dvorak keyboards would take over.

Language / What computer keyboards are in use in Poland? [34]

The official standard, modified QWERTZ keyboard fell out of use in early '00 (it wasn't really never popular). Nowadays, it's almost always US International or UK with US international prints (so- large Enter, \ sign between z and ctrl)

History / Poland's undying debt to Polonia [76]

I just wonder: why the hack someone who has left Poland (or simply speaking: was never living there), not working there and not paying taxes should have a right to vote- sorry, but many Poles (especially those who left Poland in 80s/90s) have absolutely broken image of their country.

"(..)don't even have their own Polish keybaord, but a Yankee one that requries double-typing to get the Polish characters.(..)"

Polish typist keyboard (214keys) is a crap; i'm glad it extincted with typewriters. "the yankee one" (US International) is much better for me and for most people.

Life / Do you collect mushrooms in your country? Poles in Poland do. [79]

@zetigrek
and where is a photo of miodownik?

btw thanx for photos, that reminds me when i've been younger, i used to collect shroms and blueberries in the forest (usually in Kaczory, near Piła)- but i've never eat them (i.e. mushrooms)- because they are nasty (they are good only in bigos or zapiekanka)
