Genealogy / Why are some Polish people dark complected, and others very light [511]

Polish are a mix of Slavic, Asian and Jewish, thats the reason that there are many different kind of people.

In the same way that Germans are a mix of Gaelic, Scandinavian and Turkish....?
Most European countries have the same contrast in hair and eye colour and skin tone...
It's hardly front page news...

Genealogy / I have Jewish DNA, but only know of Polish ancestry . [120]

I'm not being a sceptic... but can DNA show whether someone is an atheist, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Catholic, Mormon, Protestant, Pagan or does is just work for worshippers of Judaism?

Or did a 'Jewish' gene develop out of nowhere.... ? Just interested to know...

Language / Why is the Polish language so difficult? [309]

I have never studied Polish or any other language for 'financial gain'...
It's just a beautiful language and even with my limited knowledge I still feel glad that I learnt something.... I love Polish... it's given me so much :) :) :)

Language / Why is the Polish language so difficult? [309]

Get out of your village sometimes and know about outside world :)

It says that combined the numerous different dialects of Arabic come in 5th place as most numerous spoken language (even behind Hindi) ... as a second language it also lacks popularity...

Look how many schools in Poland are teaching Arabic and how many teach English, French, German, Russian and Spanish... Arabic of any 'dialect' isn't popular in any part of the world...

Keep trolling...

Language / Why is the Polish language so difficult? [309]

Most probably... You (the CIA) paid 10 figure sums to Bin Ladin... so 6 figure isn't so big... ;) Not many Chinese, Asians, South Americans or Europeans learning that as a second language though...

Guess what language they are learning? English is still on course to be the global language for business and science...
Yes, Polish is hard grammatically, but it's possible to gain a decent grasp of the language and to communicate effectively :)

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Should a business have the right to refuse entry or to serve a customer with a firearm?

Of course they should!

Any idiot with a firearm should be arrested...

If you're not in the army or an armed response unit you shouldn't be carrying a firearm...

Guns are not toys...

People need to grow up and learn this...

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

I don't want that for Poland, it wouldn't bring anything good. And the place won't be any safer. It's already much safer than the US or Western Europe, why change anything?

Absolutely spot on mate.
It's a cultural thing... As we say in the UK... small town = small mentality...
This is true as far as guns are concerned...

No, I don't support any such gun legislation in Poland... no intelligent, normal person would!!!

PS: This post is completely on-topic. Maybe a mod disagrees with my views, but I'd appreciate it if they would not move my valid post... thank you :)

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

Guns have caused death and dismemberment into whatever society they are introduced freely. Why? BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE MADE TO DO.

Absolutely spot on mate.
I think only guys with serious paranoia or 'size' issues feel the need to own guns... very sad...

Poland doesn't need guns on the street, it's a safe country and I'd hope that it remains so...

Let's just hope those countries like the US can leave the 18th century and join the civilised world one day :)

Language / POLISH 18 - 30 years old know MUCH BETTER ENGLISH language than their own native language! [102]

Wow! So the grammar in the Polish language is different to English... Quick, call the press...

Maybe you should ask someone to explain the case system to you... you might just learn something...

Although, I have a feeling that it would be far beyond your comprehension...

A lot of members have already replied to your stupid and pointless thread. But you're still trolling... Time to get a life maybe?

Love / What to answer to the Most annoying phrase that EVERY and EACH polish girl always says? [58]

hahahaha damn true! but I've heard some other annoying phrases: 'Life is brutal/cruel' but yeah 90% do say that their English is bad

Yes, "Life is brutal" is my pet hate. Whoever taught this to Polish people needs a good beating IMHO... I don't know why, but it drives me crazy! I hate this saying! lol :)

I am very sorry for my English. It is so bad and full of mistakes, please excuse me.

The best response is just to tell the girl that she speaks English very well (even if she doesn't), then say to her (preferably in Polish) that if she would prefer it, that you can talk to her in Polish...

Better still, why not speak to her in Polish first and then you can apologise for how bad your Polish is (even though it's "perfect")?

Love / Should I forgive my cheating Polish girlfriend? [73]

Should I consider forgiving her and try again? Or am an idiot for even considering it?

I'm sorry but you are an

idiot for even considering it

And you know it. Those were your words.
Without trust and honesty there is no relationship. How can you trust her again?
Polish or not, you should never continue a relationship with someone who has cheated on you.
I never cheat on anyone and wouldn't stay with any girl that did it to me.
It happened to me a couple of times with English girls when I was much younger. That's just women for you.
Remember the good times, smile and move on... life's too short.
Good luck! :)

History / POLAND: EASTERN or CENTRAL European country? [1080]

Poland is Central European country.I don't care if someone's calling Poland Eastern Europe as much as other posters here but it's simply not right. We are not Western or Eastern European country.Poland is mixture of these cultures. When someone refers to Eastern Europe it usually has derogatory hint in it

I agree totally...
The gutter press in the UK (and the morons that read it) will always refer to 'Eastern European' countries/migrants etc in a derogatory way. They use these label to refer to any or all Polish, Czech, Slovakian, Lithuanian migrants. They do this to imply some sort of inferiority. This is rather stupid as the average British journalist knows sweet f all about about other EU countries.

Just nationalistic, xenophobic idiots writing trash for the uneducated masses in the UK...
Let's just refer to Poland as a Central European country and have done with it.

Life / Advocating euthanasia routinely causes scandals in Poland... [63]

Personally, I accept euthaniasia - for me, it is a way to ease the suffering of old people.

Although I would agree with the legalisation of euthanasia one has to be very careful on this subject.
It is interesting that he mentions Alzheimers disease. I recently lost an elderly relative who had been suffering from that condition. In the end she succumbed to a stroke, and passed a week later. At no point would anyone have considered something like 'euthanasia'. That's just unthinkable. Her husband died several years previously to cancer. In both cases the diseases had a slow and gradual affect on my relatives but quickly become very severe.

I think that euthanasia shouldn't be thought of as 'putting elderly people (sick or otherwise) 'out of their misery'. Perhaps it can be used in cases when a relative is suffering from a permanent 'vegetative state'. But then again, it's not their choice, and be seen as murder. There is a big difference between voluntary and involuntary euthanasia. Considering how many people suffer from depression and consider killing themselves these days I'm not so sure that this would be such a great idea. There are still countries where euthanasia is legal and people can still go to those countries if they wish to voluntarily end their lives...

Genealogy / Looking for a person living in Warsaw - any online phone book in Poland? [33]

Who's number are you trying to get? Surely you can just say:

"Well, I deleted your message, so send me your number again"

(your words) and they will understand.
That is unless you are just some Turkish guy wanting to marry a Polish girl so that you can gain EU citizenship and she's decided to get well shot of you...

Polonia / How do Poles feel about Romanians and Bulgarians? [27]

His only connection with Poland is going to his local 'Polski sklep' to buy Lech.
The good news is that soon we'll know how to write 'Romanian shop' and 'Bulgarian shop' in those languages... oh, and 'benefits in the UK' too:D

UK, Ireland / Any Polish Muslims in London? [30]

I imagine that there are more Polish Muslims in the whole of Poland than in London.
So, what makes you think that Polish people of the Islamic faith need charity in Poland?
Couldn't non-Muslim Poles contribute to this cause?

News / Repopulating Poland with Ukrainians? [67]

If that happens I can foresee many Polish "hudsonhicks" talking about Ukraine like him about Poland :(

I'm pretty sure that won't happen:) It really doesn't matter if the immigrants needed are from Ukraine, Lithuania Belerus or anywhere else. If they fit into society, speak the language and make a contribution to society (and have babies:D) then surely that can only be positive for Poland. The HudsonHicks' of this world are a tiny minority and should be ignored or riducled for fun:D

There doesn't seem to be inherent hatred of Ukrainians by Poles from what I see.

News / Repopulating Poland with Ukrainians? [67]

Pawian has already raised this issue some time ago. It's not just a case of decreasing fertility rates but also that Polish couples are migrating and starting families in other countries. I think this is the real problem. I think Poland will have enough immigrants (who will be starting families) over the next 10-20 years to counter this. It really isn't a major issue. Irelands had the same issue for a long time now. They're still here.

You could say that if a man never ends up having sex that he is a potential murderer by that logic, his sperm will die when he dies.

I quite agree with you. Don't forget you're creating sperm daily and that sperm will die. They don't have a long life span.

So yes, where do you draw the line?
For me, maybe somewhere in the first 13weeks... and you?

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

But it's the same effect just at a later stage down the road. My sperm are alive, but unless they fertilise an egg, they're gunna die.

This is why I say that these decisions should be between the mother and the doctors. We can debate this ad infinitum but it won't change anything.

Rather than make people feel bad for making such a difficult decision, and just condemn the decision, I believe we should try to understand why they have made that decision.

It's certainly not the easy option a lot of people think, and women certainly don't take it lightly.

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

No, I don't consider masturbation murder. Neither do I consider contraception to be murder. But neither do I consider an abortion to be murder.

It's the same thing just at different stages of fertilisation/pregnancy.
Basically, either way you are preventing life. Everything else is just semantics and nothing to do with morals IMO.
Would you agree?

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

I've done that. You seem to be asking Foreigner4 to debate this topic with you, which he seems to be avoiding.
As for my request to you, do you agree that the term 'murderer' can apply to either party (it takes two to tango) depending on the stage of contraception/abortion...

When does life begin? I dunno. But, surely anyone using contraception is just as guilty as someone who doesn't and this results in an abortion..?

Your turn... :D

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

P3Undone, can I quickly have a brief debate with you on this issue of abortion?
I'm neither pro-life nor pro-choice, although I can see both sides of the arguement.
Women shouldn't use abortion because they can't be bothered with birth control, or their bfs can't be bothered to use condoms. I'll agree with that.

But also, sometimes there are situations when a woman really feels that an abortion is the best solution (I know about fostering & don't want to discuss that option).

But, can I discuss this particular point.
Tonight, I can meet with someone, wear a condom and prevent a potential life. I'm a murderer!
I don't wear a condom and someone gets pregnant. They have an abortion - now they're the murderer!
This is crudely my take on abortion. Any comments?
