UK, Ireland / Why Polish girls working in UK as escort more than other Eastern European girls [89]

@Justh

I'm British, pro Brexit and pro controlled immigration. I know very many Polish women. Can I just give a shout out for hard working Polish female carers, nurses, factory workers, retail assistants, teaching assistants, dentists, doctors, cleaners and a librarian. In an area that has literally thousands of Poles I know of only one who is involved in prostitution and that's only because she has addictions! I know of British women who subsidise their addictions by prostitution too.
Yes I know Polish men who drink too much (IMO) but I know plenty of Brits who do too!

Life / Poor hygiene of people in public places in Poland [46]

Euthanization does not occur where I'm from, thank you very much.

You may not have 'euthanasia' where you come from; but looking at your comments you seem to be a big fan of 'eugenics'.
Into Josef Mengele much?

Life / Poor hygiene of people in public places in Poland [46]

If you people respected your elderly you would not allow them to wallow in filth and bodily secretions.

You need to get life, death and economics into perspective Sarah!!!!!
If you are short of money, necessities such as food, water and in some countries warmth, are far greater priorities!
If there is money left over, the niceties of life e.g deodorant can then be considered!!!
Respect for elders means not bugging them about things that they may not be able to change!!! Lack of deodorant does not equate to lack of cleanliness!

What we could do is set up a Christian Charity to help get deodorant and soap to elderly Polish people.
Teach them how to use it and make sure they are getting it.

Get real, there are people dying through lack of clean water in some parts of the world!

If you are living in England shouldn't you adapt English ways and manners?

I was under the impression that the post was about Poles in Poland; why should elderly Poles adapt to English ways?
If you read up about Poland you will find that state pensions aren't huge.
Deodorant is a luxury item for many pensioners but it doesn't mean that the people concerned don't shower daily!
When many of these people where younger, times were harder and money less, deodorant would be a luxury then, too.
Show some respect for your elders, they deserve it! Do you?

they try to remove you from the seats on trams if they want your seat, they bump into people and are rude, they have a terrible sense of entitlement.

If you had any manners, you would give up your seat for an elderly person automatically! Having done a life time's work and/or bringing up a family people deserve some preferential treatment.

Love / Polish - Pakistani relationship. How it works in reality? Are Pakistanis a good men? [85]

wsj.com/articles/in-indian-families-the-dangerous-meeting-of-women-and-fire-1437606446

's
It's an interesting article and there certainly are issues in India with dowry payments but the OP is with a Pakistani man and the culture is very different. The OP needs to be looking at Pakistan and also Islam. Religious differences can be important in how a relationship plays out.

It now seems to me no more than trolling. I'd think some troll who wants to bring a th "conversation" against Muslims, Arabs and more generally against all 3rd worlders ;

You could well be right!

Love / Polish - Pakistani relationship. How it works in reality? Are Pakistanis a good men? [85]

@M_S I don't understand why you would want to have a relationship with any Asian man given your opinions on India and Pakistan.

Your description of India is rather exaggerated; there are many well educated people in India with good standards of living. There are social and economic problems, as with any nation but the reason we hear so much about them is because it's a more open and democratic country than many in the area. If you dislike India (or the idea of it) I doubt you will be able to tolerate Pakistan, its a much harsher country with equal poverty.

Mixed relationships are not easy and they take a good deal of open mindedness and compromise on both sides. A feeling of superiority has no place in this type of relationship, nor does dislike of a partner's culture.

I'm British Asian (of Indian descent) from a very liberal family and had a relationship with a Polish man, it was really difficult largely due to cultural differences. I spoke Polish well, got on really well with his family ( I still do) spent a lot of time in Poland and even ended up bringing up his son from his first relationship but it was still too difficult to overcome the differences! I couldn't cope with the alcohol, attitude to work and money and general lifestyle, it's so different from an Asian one! I was quite relieved when we split up, he did all 'can't live without you' stuff but I can see he's far more content with the Polish woman he later went out with.

If you genuinely like this Pakistani man get to know him very slowly and make sure his family know about you; try and meet them before you make any commitments to him.You will need to learn to accept his culture and find things that you do like in it or you'll have no chance of a successful relationship.

UK, Ireland / My bad experiences with Polish neighbours in UK (not meant to offend) [173]

@ryouga:-Unfortunately there are bad people among all races, you seem to have been landed with the Polish 'white trash'. The only advice I can give is to put the police on to them every time they step out of line. You should also keep a diary of every anti social thing they do and take pictures of mess they leave. When you have a reasonable amount of evidence take it to their landlord or the housing authorities.

Autism is still not very well understood or accepted in Poland and if these people are poorly educated they will target you because of the autism.

Try and stand up to as much as possible, if you stand your ground they may well get fed up of targeting you.

Love / Surplus of single women in Poland? [25]

The thing I like about Polish women is that they like men.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. British women like men as much as any nationality of women do.I think you are mixing up 'dislike' with independence.

It's no big thing for British women to either have or not have a man.Women in Britain are independent enough to know their lives will be okay/good whether or not a man is involved. Most women here are not afraid of being single parents or single and childless, it's no stigma. Education isn't wonderful here but it's enough for women to get a reasonable job or career and it does encourage some freedom of thought.

It's a different situation in Poland and there is still some stigma to being a single woman; that is changing very quickly though and there are plenty of young Polish women who don't see 'having a man' as the be all and end all of life.

I hate to worry you but being in a partnership is rapidly becoming a choice rather than a necessity in many countries, it's regressing in some of the Muslim countries but I don't suppose you'd want an ISIS run government in Europe!!

Life / Polish traditions and customs? I'm writing a crime novel that takes place in Poland. [10]

If you can spare the time and money try spending a month in Poland. Visit some rural areas and also some non tourist cities like Lodz and Plock; these places will give you an idea of real Poland.

Learn a few Polish phrases, a bit of the history and foodstuffs for authenticity in the book. In the UK there are many Polish immigrant workers and shops, maybe it's similar in Canada??? Try going to some of the shops if there are any near you, it's worth a trip for the cakes and salad dressings alone! Good luck and let us know if your book is published, you'd get quite a few readers in Britain!

Is there any practical / real reason why your novel is based in Poland? Do you have any knowledge of the country? Have you visited? Because I can't imagine writing a novel set in e.g. Belgium (I've never been there). The only thing that comes to mind that could help you, apart from spending lots of time in Poland, is watching a lot of Polish movies of all genres to get an idea of how people behave.

I get your meaning but if I could write a legible sentence I'd write a thriller about Poland because even after many visits and knowing many Poles, the place still seems exciting.

UK, Ireland / Agnieszka Pomaska, beautiful Polish politician [43]

She is a politician after all in this age and place you don't expect politicians to address the real issues.

I expect them to at least try! I would also expect some insight into important issues.

In my opinion that kind of talk discourage worse cases of scapegoating by politicians, they are a queer breed those politicians.

I agree politicians can be odd at times but her comments will just cause further
rows.

UK, Ireland / Agnieszka Pomaska, beautiful Polish politician [43]

I agree that many of the comments by British politicians are wrong but Ms Pomaska has not helped the situation with her stupid sensationalist comments. The woman is doing nothing to help Poles in either Britain or Poland by making ignorant statements that fail to address the real issues. This kind of talk will encourage not discourage scapegoating.

That said my main issue with the OP's thread is that looks should not be a voting issue, whatever the gender of the candidates.

UK, Ireland / Agnieszka Pomaska, beautiful Polish politician [43]

@ Kaz, I don't know about Poland but here in the UK the number of people who can be bothered to vote has been declining for years. Everything that can help get people interested in politics has to help. That could include getting in some more attractive candidates, such as Agnieszka P.

I agree that there is a growing apathy towards politics and political parties in Britain. Making politics into a 'beauty contest' isn't going to help though; we had all that idiocy with 'Blair's Babes'. It's that type of game show politics that has increased apathy among voters.

Candidates should be appointed on their ability to do the job well, looks, gender, ethnicity should not be determining factors.

Setting aside the rights and wrongs of her comments

This is exactly what you shouldn't do!! her comments showed a lamentable lack of knowledge regarding the economic situation and education systems in both Poland and Britain. The comments were sensationalist, to attract attention they offered no solutions to anything!

it is not because Poles are better educated or harder worker it is because pay masters can pay less it is a race to bottom nothing more, she is ignorant of the issues of working people.

Exactly. You'd think that polish politicians would be as concerned about wages for working people in their own country. Poles shouldn't have to move all over the world to try to find a living wage.

These two quotes are far more pertinent to the real economic situation. Ms Pomaska would achieve more by talking to people who understand what is happening in both countries.

UK, Ireland / Agnieszka Pomaska, beautiful Polish politician [43]

I know that Polish women are on average much better looking than most nationalities, but generally politicians of either aren't lookers.

Is this really relevant??? A politician's appearance has nothing to do with their ability to represent people efficiently.
Your sexual preferences are of no relevance either ( there must be other sites for 'perving'). Would you seriously vote for a politician because they were 'fit'!!!??

USA, Canada / Why indian origin woman as Miss America and never Polish origin? [40]

The reason she won is because the judges thought she was the prettiest girl!! She is beautiful by any standards.

Don't get me wrong - she is very nice, but not stunning

Not fat she just looks like a real person not a barbie doll! You don't have to be anorexic to be pretty!

Life / Bad Polish mothers [35]

This doesn't just happen in Poland.

Very sadly it happens all over the place, possibly the poster just wanted to dispel the myth that all 'Polish,Russian, Chinese, Martian, whatever' mothers are exempt from any wrong doing ever!

Rose West was hardly a candidate for mother of the year, was she?

Her and a few others shamefully

There are links posted for general welfare of children which are quite informative
If you are looking for the child abuse case google in 'Daniel Pelka' and it gives information on the case be warned though it is very upsetting.

Life / Bad Polish mothers [35]

I have read quite comprehensively about the case because of the type of work I do. Obviously the death of the child id down to the Mother and her partner however the head master of the school should have been onto the police and social service every day until the child was properly assessed or removed.

I appreciate the class teacher was young and inexperienced and may have been scared to kick up a fuss, hence the union may have been able to help.

There were chances missed!

Life / Bad Polish mothers [35]

actually that Pelka case was v v disturbing - one reason that he did not attract more attention from authorities is that his clothes were clean and ironed

Quite a difficult case because none of the authorities seemed to want to be involved. The teacher who first raised the problem should have contacted her union as well, they could have advised her on how to get the social services and senior management of the school to do something to help.

There are a lot of little lard buckets now yeah same everywhere when fastfood becomes cheaper than home cooking then the problem starts it will happen in poland if enough children live to need solid food

A problem that needs rectifying everywhere these days, we need proper home economics lessons in schools!!! and to limit fast food outlets severely, stick a load of tax on them and make it cheaper to eat healthy food!

Love / Age difference in Dating a Polish - Is it ok for Man 27years to date Polish Lady 39years? [19]

Many 18/19 year old girls may be physically mature (just) and may be able to bear a child but that does not mean that they have the emotional maturity to handle sex or to have any kind of equal relationship with a man 19/20 years older than her. The average 18 year old has very little experience of life and often has had no time to fully formulate her opinions about various subjects or her values and principles, consequently she is much more open to exploitation and 'moulding'.

A man who is considerably older could easily manipulate both the girl and the relationship to his advantage. How can you debate or discuss the world when someone has the upper hand in experience and learning opportunities. I'm not against age gaps per se because by the time people reach their late 20's they have usually gained enough experience and education for the gap to be less of a drawback. It's the ability to exploit that is disgusting.

As for your 'cringing' about the woman being 52, she could be stunningly beautiful, you can't always say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have always thought that white men age appallingly badly, at 18 the thought of a 37 year old white man would have made me heave but if my mates had gone after one my objections to the relationship would not have been based on my idea of physical beauty but on the fact that the guy was in a position to exploit because physical attraction is subjective.

What exactly do YOU get out of a relationship with an 18 year old other than sex?
Can't you see that an older woman e.g 30 would have so much more to offer and still be beautiful.

Love / Adultery- Is it ok for Polish women [41]

It's not really a question of whether Polish women accept adultery, both the men and women are equally guilty of committing adultery, it's not one gender alone and it's not exclusive to Poles. Where you get any group of people who work away from their families for long periods of time it's a risk, people get lonely.

UK, Ireland / Britain's moral collapse? [99]

Britain's moral collapse

Britain is in much better shape than many places in the world, certainly in better shape than America!!
There are problems in Britain , the society is in a state of change and it might be some time before it settles down smoothly again.

Many of our problems are due to the way the governments have been influenced by the USA and the EU.
Britain has supported America in areas/matters that America has no right to to interfere in? big mistake
Britain has also accepted laws and ideas from the EU that have had a derogatory effect on society.
That said Britain has far fewer problems than the USA in terms of moral standards, lawlessness, gang culture etc....
We also have at least a semblance of democracy, more than the USA or many European countries have!

Too much multi-culti?

There wouldn't be a USA without all of the ethnic groups that have been paramount in building the place.

Too much multi culti

Without the ethnic groups in Britain, services that you like to avail yourself of would be unable to run.
Some of the ethnic groups e.g Chinese, Indians have far fewer benefit claimants than white Britons or other white immigrants, Poles included.

Thats what i intend to do lolol. Just about five more yrs!

By all means finish your education here, lets face it, despite it's bad points it's still superior to the Polish education system. Lets just hope your family pays the £27,000 fees for that education like I am for each of my children!!!!

Life / Bribery and corruption 'fact of life' in Poland? [152]

I know a few stories about doctors and hospitals being pretty corrupt, but I don't know if it still goes on.

Yes it does, the Polish lad I was 'left ' with needed a knee op last year, when we visited the hospital in Lodz (he hurt the knee more whilst we were visiting his grandparents in Lodz) we were offered the op quickly for 'present'.

The lad in question has also been offered places and a guaranteed degree from various universities, again for a 'present'.
All credit to my 'sort of child' he refused all offers including the knee op.
It happens a lot in Poland but it also happens alot in other countries too.
