a few 'get by' words in another language makes you 'bilingual'!
I tend to stick with the 'acquired' not 'learned' distinction. A bilingual person acquires more than one language from infancy from hearing and interacting with speakers of said language.
Learning a language in school is a different issue.
Studies show that the brain treats acquired languages differently from learned languages.
But there are lots of confounding factors, like the fact that some people become more fluent in a language learned at school than in their 'native' language that they acquired in childhood... (I've known a few people like that).
Anyhoo, I found two interviews with Sarah
My judgement: To me, she sounds sort of borderline native, like she's been around English all her life and it mostly comes naturally but there are some pronunciation features (general lack of th sounds and devoicing of final voiced consonants )and syntactic peculiarities (like "I didn't came here") that make me think she's dominant in Polish (in interviews in Polish she sounds like a typical Polish teenager, down to swallowing syllables in the middle of words and mumbling a lot in the way they do now.... kids! what's wrong with 'em????)
