History / The Two Saddest Nations on Earth... Poles and Jews [243]

Guess then that Labour chap Jeremy Corbyn was simply a fig newton of the NYT's vivid imagination, eh?
Not only Jews, but plenty of non-Jews, not the least of whom former PM Cameron, were calling for his resignation, if I remember right.

Come on, mate! Not everything's a fantasy of the American press.

@Milo,
You seem to continue your foolish denial of European anti-Semitism! Either you're bating me, which is more than likely, or, you're feigning ignorance, most probably.

Every Devil needs an Advocate:-)

Matter of taste, I suppose. His "Symphonie Fantastique" promises far more than it delivers and is all too gimicky in my opinion. Not bad though as background music in Kevin Kline's "Sleeping With The Enemy":-)

Saint Saens' violin potboilers are hokey, but nonetheless beautiful.

Off-Topic / The "Anglicization" of Europe [132]

Now that Bojo's history, this will finally cast a new (and sorely needed) light on the future of BREXIT as well as the relationship of the Continent, naturally including Poland, with the UK in the years to come!

At least you admitted it, Milo!
Regarding Cojestdocholery, always more pc to give the non-native English poster the benefit of the doubt over the educated native English speaker such as yours truly:-)

The reason you've turned against me is simply that I've rejected your long-cherished misconceptions and are showing you up at long last for what you really are.

Oh, and don't let's forget of course about Saint Saens!
Bizet was no slouch either LOL. Then there's always Delibes' "Lacme" Berlioz? Not overwhelmed.

You ought to have trusted your first instincts, Milo!
They wouldn't have let you down:-)
What made you change? Is historical truth that abhorrent to you?

@Cojestdocholery, quit trolling! Nobody's interested anyway.

In general, I'm not overwhelmingly a fan of 20th century French music and the only French composers who were anything special in my opinion were Faure, Lalo, and some early Debussy:-)

Heifetz performing the Lalo Violin Concerto is almost mesmerizingly beautiful!

History / Introduction to Polish history! From a Polish perspective [94]

@Cojestdocholery,
Are you aware of the name "Dr." Frits Claussen and his ill-fated pro-Hitler outbursts? To the Danes' proud credit, he never received even full minority support in the Folketing (Danish Parliament) and was even denounced as "Un-Danish" in character!

Yes, I'm aware that in nearly every European nation, a pro-Nazi contingent reared its ugly head, with perhaps the exeception of Albania and Bulgaria.
