History / Poland must get back Lwow, Wilno and Brest back [345]

Thanks for a good laugh.

Exactly!! A good laugh at your posts concerning Poland coz 90% of your pathetic contribution here is bickering with me. :):):)
Thanks for your attention, anyway, but I am not an attention sicker like Novi. . ):):)

However, do you also imagine, like Novi, that the sense of your lousy existence depends on how well you fight your adversaries in the forum???? :):):):):)
It doesn`t, really. You must really lack intelligence if you think so. :):):)

What makes you think that?

Your very reaction. :):): Who told me to stop sticking labels??? You did when i addressed you as nationalist. Ha!@!!!!!!!!

Only the opinions of people I respect count.

Life / Are foreigners welcome in Poland? [305]

She tries to avoid complaining outrightly about racism towards black people in Poland, she only delicately alludes to it in her last words.

I wonder about your freedom-in Benin and in Poland. How are they different?

I think this is the first time someone has asked me such a question. In Benin, I felt 200 percent free. In Poland , I don't feel 100 percent free yet. I've gotten used to living here, but in the back of my mind I feel like I'm different. Maybe it's because I don't live in Warsaw, but near Katowice. I feel like people are looking at me, it's strange for me. I feel like they have a different approach to me because of my background. I see that the people I get along with best have experience of other cultures. They've either lived abroad or traveled. They've experienced another culture and they don't treat me differently, but as equals. I've only recently learned to name this relationship. It's CQ, Cultural Intelligence. It refers to a person's ability to be in a multicultural environment.

He speaks Hebrew , English , Russian , Polish and Yiddish fluently.

His Polish is quite good, especially pronunciation of those difficult swishing sounds. . He makes a lot of mistakes with endings, though, but they don`t hamper communication. .

Life / Polish women fight for their rights - manifa and other events [306]

During the divorce, they argued about a herd of cows. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court.

Before he got married, the man had received a herd of cows from his parents. When he filed for divorce, his wife demanded that the herd be divided, which the husband did not agree to. The case was decided by the District Court in Białystok, which stated that the cattle were included in the joint property of the spouses. Because after 18 years of marriage, they could not be the same cows that the man received from his parents, and the offspring - i.e. young animals in the herd - are no longer his personal property. The Supreme Court agreed with this, to which a cassation appeal was filed.

A legal battle ensued, during which it was established that in 2003 DK had registered 36 head of cattle, while when his marriage ended - there were 47.

Study / Various education and school issues in Poland. Opinions, stories, controversies. [1006]

Certain high school in Poland possesses a tree in the backyard which is the fave habitat for a big flock of long eared owls, about 30 specimens right now, a few families containing 5 birds each on average.
Owls aren`t scared by the noise from the school and they gladly observe students in class.

Students and the staff joke the place looks like Hogwart. ))

Life / Are foreigners welcome in Poland? [305]

The cultural differences she mentions while comparing two countries prove that African Poles/Polesses can be a great asset to Poland coz they are such decent helpful relaxed people.

What other cultural differences have you noticed?

I was surprised by the topics that are discussed every day in Poland. They usually concern plans for a specific day, such daily tasks. In Benin, I have the impression that we go deeper in the conversation. A conversation is a space to talk about emotions, to release this flood of feelings. There is such a support system - you tell the person about your emotions, and they encourage you to feel better. Now, after years of living here, I understand both sides. In Africa, people are more open, they stick together, see each other on a regular basis, which makes it easier for them to talk about deep topics. Here, the conditions are such that daily contact is not so common. The way of life can change us, it changes me a bit

News / Time to clean the swamp - dePiSification of Poland [324]

Good comment on PiS gansters` attitude in the past and today:

For two terms, Law and Justice destroyed the rule of law, and today it attacks the government for destroying the rule of law. For two terms, PiS ridiculed the opposition for saying "the end of democracy," and today it justifies the disappearance of its former deputy minister of justice with the alleged end of democracy in Poland. For two terms, PiS built alliances with anti-Western, pro-Putin forces in the European Union , and today it compares the incumbent prime minister directly to Alexander Lukashenko and the oppressive regime.

That is why I refuse to have anything in common with PiS coz they are morally corrupt to the very core of their rotten minds and souls.

The cultural differences she mentions while comparing two countries prove that African Poles/Polesses can be a great asset to Poland coz they are such decent helpful relaxed people.

What surprised you about Poland?

At first, I lived with my ex-husband's parents. There was a rule that his mother did everything at home. In Benin, there is a very clear hierarchy in culture. You can't watch TV or sit idle while someone older than you does household chores. I couldn't get used to the fact that things were different in Poland. I was uncomfortable with it. I wanted to help, to do something, but I understood that I had to respect the culture. When my mother came to visit after a few years and I was already used to it, she told me to get up and help. It was a shock for her too.

Anything else?

I quickly realized that I walked much slower than Poles . In Africa, people walked calmly, gracefully, without rushing. I stood out, walking like that in Silesia.

Life / Are foreigners welcome in Poland? [305]

An interview with Nadia, from Benin, Africa, living in Poland for 13 years now. She runs her TikTok channel called Brown Skin Girl in Poland.

Some excerpts:
What was the most difficult thing in the first years?

Winter. I arrived in May, the weather was fine. I was a bit cold, but it wasn't bad. People around me told me: go to the garden, enjoy the weather. I didn't understand the idea of enjoying the weather. But when winter came, I quickly understood. The temperatures dropped to -20 degrees Celsius, the frosts were terrible for me. I moved from room to room, I didn't spend time outside. Now I know that as soon as the sun appears, it's worth enjoying the weather, nature. I understood this after the first frosts.

Was learning Polish a challenge for you?

Not really. I was motivated to learn, I started learning in Benin with flashcards. I had lessons recorded on a CD and I listened to them in the car. Apparently I have an ease in repeating words I hear, so maybe it was easier for me. In Benin we have different dialects, language ability may be related to that.

Travel / Special stories / anecdotes about Gdansk [12]

But the biggest damage took place after capturing Gdańsk - drunk Soviet soldiers set fire to houses which were still standing. Whole blocks were destroyed in this way.

Even though the ruined districts were rebuilt with a new approach, and due to lack of funds without a lot of previous ornaments and details, they still retained their historical atmosphere. And adding those missing details today isn`t a problem coz we can afford it at last.

Also, restorers added more space between rows of tenement houses by removing every second row. Check the difference. Before the war, the housing was very dense, no room for backyards. Today most rows have their own big backyard with greenery.

News / Future of Polish-Ukrainian relations [669]

I can observe the never ending debate between the Polish and Ukrainian side.

Namely, who should be more grateful???

Ukrainians to Poland for our military support, hosting millions of refugees and humanitarian aid???
Or Poles/Polesses for heroic Ukrainian war effort which contains Russia where it is and reduces the danger that rogue country poses to Poland ??????

It is obvious to me that we should be more grateful to Ukrainians coz the money we are spending on the support for them is peanuts compared with the money we will have to spend when Russia gets out of Asia and puts its foot on Eastern Europe again.

History / Heil Poland!.....? Poland is a pro-Nazi state? [187]

Is it possible to observe, without indignant smile, Poland's attempts to profane Soviet/Russian efforts to liberate entire Poland?

Soviet Russian monuments which glorify the criminal Red Army should be demolished to the end. Imperial Russians are doing it to Polish memorials in Russia.

On the other hand, let me remind imperial Russians that your soldiers` cemeteries in Poland remain intact.

News / Years of Poland in the EU - assessment of pros and cons [1199]

What about it?

Why such stupid questions??? What is your education?? We aren`t talking about the overall size of the country`s economy but the average life style of its citizens. Ireland has a higher standard of living for its citizens than Britain.
After Brexit you had to close your second hand EU carpet business due to tariff and border disruptions. Now you have to economise on everything to make both ends meet, even on your Internet connection which works only in night hours.

News / Pawel Adamowicz, Gdansk mayor, dies after stabbing [354]

Polish state TV, run by PIS, contributed greatly to his death with its repulsive propaganda which Goebbels would be proud of today.
The person directly responsible for it is Jacek Kurski, called PIS bullterrier, ready to commit any dirty act for proper gratification.

His brother, Jarosław Kurski, is a decent man who works in one of main stream papers. Adamowicz was his life friend.

Today two brothers don`t contact each other, even during Christmas.

Before Paweł Adamowicz's death, the former mayor of Gdańsk was heavily attacked in the programs of Polish Television, which was then managed by Jacek Kurski. Some media and politicians later accused TVP of contributing to the tragedy with this smear campaign. Jarosław Kurski also thinks the same, but he did not talk about it with his brother.

- No. It's very difficult for me to talk about it, because I had a friend, his name was Paweł Adamowicz. He's dead, for a reason... I knew Paweł from the period of the Young Poland Movement, student strikes, we did a lot of things together. What's painful for me in this story is the complete rejection of the causal relationship between the television narrative and the effect. The lack of remorse, pretending that nothing happened, is a bit too much. Let's leave this topic - the journalist asked.

Law / Gun control in Poland: should Polish people be allowed to own guns? [1070]

Villains modify gas guns into firearms.
A 75-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after he shot his friend sitting in her car on a street in Przemyśl. The man admitted to the charge. He told investigators that his behavior was motivated by jealousy.

The incident occurred on Saturday around 11 a.m. in Przemyśl. A 75-year-old man shot a 60-year-old woman sitting in her car with a modified gas weapon.

The woman was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to her head and right arm. Her life is not in danger.

They're worried?

Exactly!!!

something would weigh on one's mind, not liver.

Wrong association!!! Liver derives from life. Anything that sits on the liver suggests acute life problems.
Mind isn`t so important. Crazies freely function around us, even in this forum. hahahaha buhahaha

History / Poland must get back Lwow, Wilno and Brest back [345]

Poland will expand only westward and northward.

Neither. Poles/Polesses dropped their revisionism decades ago. And we will do our best to make others drop it too. I am talking about imperial Russians and hyena Hungarians.
If Slovak losers want to join in , they are welcome. But after main events,. they`d better not organise another Slovak Rising which will last 2 hours, like the previous one.

A joke from my youth - what is the difference between the Slovak Rising and the film about it???
The film is 10 minutes longer. hahahaha

History / Russian Greatness - and its Polish Contributors [77]

In another thread I clashed with certain Am Polonia member over Katyń massacre in which 22.000 Polish military and police were executed by Soviet NKVD..

It is worth mentioning that Soviet Russians spared a Polish general who as a young man fought against Japanese at the battle of Tsushima 1905 and became a hero awarded by the tsar with a high distinction for his bravery.

Jerzy Wołkowicki
In the years 1901-1904 he was a student of the Marine Corps in St. Petersburg . From 1904 he served in the rank of midshipman on the battleship " Imperator Nikolai I ", a unit of Admiral Nikolai Nebogatov 's squadron , which was part of the Baltic Fleet , and later the III Pacific Squadron. He took part in a cruise around Africa to help the besieged Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War of 1905 , which ended in defeat in the Battle of Tsushima.

Many Poles serving in the Russian fleet took part in the battle, including Jerzy Wołkowicki, who later became a general of the Polish Army. In 1905, he held the rank of michman ( ensign ) . During a meeting with Admiral Nikolai Nebogatov, he and other junior officers opposed the capitulation of the remnants of the Russian Fleet. He uttered the words: fight to the end, and then blow up the ship and save yourself. For his stance, he was awarded the Order of St. George . He became a national hero of Russia. This was described by the famous seaman Novikov-Priboy in his novel Tsushima . The general's fame survived the tsarist regime and probably saved him from being murdered in Katyn in 1940.
