Life / Blasphemy not OK in Poland! [54]

Polonius why did you try to veer away from the subject and deflect?

Bob is always doing that. He launches some absurd posting, and later when other posters ask for sources, clarification etc.. he does not answer (or starts to rant about evil pop music). See his posting about churches having turned into brothels :)

News / Abortion still under control in Poland [2986]

The funny thing is that and PIS and the Polish episcopate lecture us on this one.
1. JK is gay as a maple and such has no idea about procreation (I have no problem with gays, far from it but the hypocrisy emanating from that guy)

2. The Polish episcopate are the last to lecture us on moralities
3. Both are and against sexual education in schools, against selling contraceptives, against in-vitro, against abortion.

I do not know from where he invents such hilarious stories. Even the script is bad.

I have shown a good friend of mine here in Warsaw your most recent invention. He is from Quebec and thought it to be hilarious.

Does the sex/pûrn industry pay you to write such stuff? Or do you actually believe debauchery to be the wave of the future

What kind of distorted view of the world do you have? What kind of world you stand for?
One without joy, completely distorted, hard, cruel. cold.
One world comes me to mind. There is a very famous drawing (I cannot locate it/bring it into mind) of the English Civil War. Somebody standing in front of a "jury" of bitter, dour people. And one of the "judges" asks why the guy's relatives were doing in the war. I am sure one of the Brits here can enlighten me. It is a very famous cartoon.

But it completely describes your mentality.
Get a life.

And at the same time of course they are against sexual education in school and want to limit the availability of contraceptives...

History / What do Poles owe to Hungarians? [275]

Did anybody already go to that Hungarian shop in Saska Kępa? "Papryka". I heard it is delightful, if not very cheap.

Life / Polands new immigrants from the West. [36]

From what I know the number of expats is going down all the time. Look to Kredyt Bank for example. (Or Fortis, another Belgian bank) In the beginning it was swarming with Belgian expats. Manning all the key positions during the transition period. Now there are only a handful of them. I think this is a logical and positive evolution. The locals haven taken over, because they are equally competent and feel even better the local climate.

And yes, the very key people who make the ultimate decisions will remain Belgian - Maybe 5 of them?

Life / Polands new immigrants from the West. [36]

Now that I would disagree with, I know many expats/immigrants here in Warsaw that do not desire to speak Polish or even get involved in the culture.

I also know some of these - the only word in Polish is "piwo". Very sad.
But then for example we are talking for example about a guy I know, who works for KB, stays in an apartment in the Intercontinental. Flies in Sunday evening, goes home Friday evening...What he concerns, he might as well live in Singapore :)

History / Poland's undying debt to Polonia [76]

Communism was imposed on Poland. Stalin forbid his satellite states to accept Marshall aid.

History / Poland's undying debt to Polonia [76]

How comes that 70% of the Polish electorate (middle-class, hard-working, driving their kids to school every day, visiting the National Museum in Warsaw, Dom Spotkań z Historią, decent people) are declared traitors. By some Nazist fringe which represents...nobody?

History / Lusatia allied with Poland? [19]

by now not left even a trace of the language

Another proof you have no idea about how the region ticks. Did you ever drive by car in the border region around Bautzen? Saw the official bilingual language signs?

Work / How much to pay a housekeeper in Warsaw? [23]

Our Pani Irena is working at our home since many years. We are paying her 150 PLN for a day's work (around 9 hours). We were thinking to give her a raise. How much would be acceptable? As I know 15 PLN per hour is the norm in Warsaw.

You have good posts - though not with everyone of them I agree. Life as it is :)
I also do not agree always with my mates :)

Wixer, do not get discouraged. I am sure there quite a few native speakers here who want to help you out.

Language / kiedy i tam [15]

These kinds of short words pose a problem in many languages, and opening a dictionary won't always help. Context and slang also matter.

History / Warsaw Rising 1944 - National Disaster or Triumph of Spirit ? [515]

In 1943, The General Uprising of Jews and Pole

It was the desperate Uprising from the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto. Where do you get the notion of any non-Jewish Poles involved?
Your notion of "General Uprising of Jews and Poles" denies the basic facts.
They refused the Jewish resistance fighters any support. Sold them weapons only for hard cash. Declined them any worthwhile aid.
Btw Why do General Anders' comments about the 1944 Uprising get so few reflections in this country?
