Life / Exam for Drivers License in Poland; English? [99]

I passed on the third time - the driving was more difficult than theory; fortunately I took a couple of *private lessons* with the instructor who "was said to knew the examinator" -- maybe it helped? :)

For American friends here I should mention that in Poland there are not so many one-way streets; streets are not that wide; and you had to drive a stick-shift. When I was passing the exam you were supposed to drive the examiner's car - usually the one you have seen and driven for the first time in your life :).

There's no such word like "veryho" in Polish. It sounds more Jewish...

USA, Canada / US Green Card lottery for Poles? [19]

I think it doesn't have a lot to do with foreign politics - according to the rules Poland received more cards in the previous years than it was supposed to receive so this year (actually next year) Poland won't participate in the lottery.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

For me the first beer on a particular day doesn't usually taste good - after 3rd or 4th (I mean - in the Polish bottles - 0.5 l, not 0.33 l or 0.25l ) - it's delicious...:).

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

I think some results could be somewhat confusing --- you guys say one beer is good, another is better. But the question is - when do you "assess" the taste of the beer? You should know 3rd beer in a row may not taste as well as the first in the day (or vice versa:).

Genealogy / Want to find a person [755]

People searchers - if you pay somene he/she'll find the guy ;). Phone books may work unless the person is not delisted. ID numbers -- not as advanced like in the US where soon chips in head will become "popular" ;).

Food / What is your favorite Polish Vodka? [653]

Not when you get used to it... A normal healthy man can drink a couple of beers every day (could be addictive on the long run though so be careful)..

I'll ask bolo which one he prefers.

It doesn't matter how you call it - what matters is what you can do with it... :)

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

Well, I think EB used to be one of the most famous Polish beers back in the 90-ties -- mostly because (young) Polish people could see a professional EB commercial on MTV. Now I'm not sure if that's so popular, but I think it tastes pretty good.

Love / English Men vs Polish Men [207]

I used to open doors for a woman, but now I seldom do it because women are now in such competition with men that I feel opening a door for a woman would show my weakness.. :)

Law / Setting up small business in Poland? [191]

I don't think you need to set up business - at least at the beginning. The fees are very high (especially when you hire a worker - ZUS fee). So try it out first and when it pans out, you can set it formally...

Food / Adwokat vodka with egg yolk [16]

I think the correct name should be "Advocaat" (and it's a liquor, not vodka). Below is an Advocaat Liquor picture:
