What's so strange about company wanting to employ people who speak Polish? And in Poland it's basically synonymous (Polish and speaking Polish), as very little foreigners know the language. Moreover when you search for a job in profession with bigger unemployment, where employers have big choice of workers, they may choose Polish because of tribal patriotism.
Then there is the problem with the way we look, don't be fooled they know your a foreigner.

You're right here. Many young will rather emigrate instead of getting low salary in Poland as they parents. But hey! Think about Africa, Egypt for example. They also watch American movies, see lifestyle which cannot achieve at home with their salary. For Polish young the lifestyle is just behind the border.

Yes in few cases big developers bankrupted and people left with nothing. It was hard to predict that. Now system is better. It's possible to have money in escrow account and pay next rates when construction progresses.

You're actually right here. Most of families in Poland either had apartments or got them from the state after communism collapsed. 2 x smaller than average in Germany, but still. Hence very big home ownership in Poland. Now retires get relatively high retirements and own apartments, while young don't own anything, have to pay very big part of their earnings for rent and often earn minimums salary (much lower than average retirement).

As for medical insurance, the public is obligatory and payed from your gross salary. So when you read above that will get 6000zł net, then it's after paying for public insurer. But it's true that not many people speak English there, so you will need a good friend to help you or just pay some student pocket money whenever you are in hospital to translate you. IBM will probably cover costs of private health insurance too. Big corporations usually do that.

I think it depends what you're going to do there. Do you think that they may need you just for 3 months? It is not usual to fire good workers after trial period. They are making some effort to get work permit for you, so probably they will need you for longer than just 3 months.

It's because Polish friend (przyjaciel) is somebody you drunk vodka with at least few times and sir is honorary title which we don't use since communism came to Poland.

You should come to Poland as a tourist. During that time you should apply to as many job positions as possible (or even send CV earlier with information that you will be in Poland 1 week later). Go to many interviews. Then the company who wants you will apply for your work permit. They have to make special job advertisement and leave it in local job office. If during 1 month nobody applies, you can get work permit. There are many tricks to make sure that nobody applies. For example requiring knowledge of niche technologies, offering very low salary or requiring knowledge of Turkish language.
It takes some time, requires extra effort from the company and the permit you get for this job only. As to what Terri says it's not so hard to get a job in IT, event for a Turkish person, especially if you're some kind of Senior Programmer.
