Travel / Driving in Poland, are there any rules at all? [149]

in Oct. 2010.

Personally I think driver habbits are changing since then in Poland and are becoming more rational. My guess as from 2000 very few licensed drivers were driving and were young and new on the streets with cars but things are changing very rapidly.I drive around 10k miles almost 16k km a year in since 2000 and find polish road drivers getting more sensible.lol then again i personally love overtaking a slow moving car and esp following a car with cb radio with a tall antenna:)

Law / New Immigration Laws in Poland - achieving residency through my wife's citizenship? [7]

If we are living in Poland we wouldn't leave for more than two weeks at a time to visit other countries. So that part is not be a problem.

Infact when I was getting my permanent card they counted all the stamps of me exiting and entering to Poland or any other country. You can visit any country ib the EU and was not considered to be leaving Poland.

I will have to maintain private health insurance

Not really, if you do want get it i will recommend from medicover or damian they both operate together and have best health services for 5200 pln a year and also cover overseas for 30k euro and they have doctors who speak english.

The next time (hopefully soon) we want to stay in Poland and travel around Europe for up to 2 years.

yes you cant leave poland/eu for more then 6 months in 2 years to apply for your permanent card which is a requirement if you want polish citizenship.

Travel / Painted Polish Village Zalipie [6]

For the townsfolk of Zalipie, every day is a celebration since the isolated outpost blossomed into one of Poland's most iconic villages. What was once a bleak and forgotten cluster of smoke-blackened huts, has over the years transformed into a kaleidoscopic feast of colour - and one of southern Poland's best-kept treasures. Each house is decorated with its own vibrant floral motif, painstakingly hand-painted by the town's housewives.

Life / Sewer smell in Bathroom - PLUMBING CODE - P TRAP ?? [4]

dry out if you don't know to top them up with water from time to time

Yup I had the same problem in one of my ground floor place,it stinks when the toilets etc are not used over a period of time so if you let the water run a while the smell goes away.

Travel / Where can I buy alcohol in Poland as a 16 yr old? (is it legal?) [14]

buying alcohol in PL is 18

I always wondered who is charged in case a underage is sold alcohol? in states both the seller and the buyer is charged,to top it even if a fake id is shown still the seller is charged as he did sell to underage as well as the buyer.Same is the case with ciggerettes.

environmental engineers are not the best paid on average

I will not agree with that as dealing with EPA in the state of nj is not the young kids I deal with me frame that picture. Then again depends on the state also .Even dealing with private clean up companies I have seen fresh graduates starting over 75k.

UK, Ireland / British or polish Passport ' Advice feedback [47]

I got my kids polish passports in 2000,ofcourse they were very young then, and now when my son grew up and got a job he had serious problems for getting top security clearance in the usa because of his polish passport/citizenship which is not a joke to leave been almost 11/2 year he filed an application to the president by voivodship and no answer yet.And the security clearance is pending till he has a confirmed letter even though the passport has expired.I wonder if people have same problems having polish and british passports?
