Many Problems with UPC Broadband in Poland - Anyone Else?

UPC Broadband has been wholly unreliable for me lately - nearly a dozen outages in the past month (including a 20-hour outage that just ended this evening). Anyone else having similar troubles with their UPC internet connection? And what are the alternatives? What other companies offer broadband in Krakow? I'm ready to jump ship!

Been fine where I am, have you asked them to call out and fix the problem?

What city are you in BLS? I am in Kraków and haven't had a single issue since I signed up. There was a 2 hour lapse in TV and internet once, but that was scheduled maintenance that I was informed about before it happened.

I'm in Krakow - Ruczaj to be exact. I have made several calls to them regarding these problems, but I haven't been impressed with their customer service. Today, my flatmate called them, and they told her that it was a problem with our router. Then I called them a few minutes later, and they told me that the entire block of flats was without connection - they blamed the problem on the building's infrastructure (our building is less than 10 years old). After that, I went to a nearby restaurant that also subscribes to UPC internet - their connection was out as well. So I don't like the runaround they seem to be giving us.

This has happened far too often recently - today was the last straw for me. Any suggestion for other internet providers?

Outages recently here in Tri-City too. Never liked them :) But probably better than the devil you don't.

They could put up a page explaining they are down but there's sweet FA customer service with them.

Same here. Poor customer service with them. Never understood why some people rate them, they seem quite lousy at times and disorganised, muddled, confusing. If they're the best, there's no hope here really.

Every provider has outages. You need a gsm backup. Stable ping tell us about provider quality a lot. Outages not.
Since 2004 I have my brilliant multimedia.pl but recently (in April) crack on the monolith appeared. Outages in the night.
Now everything is fine.

By the way, if you call UPC on their 801 number (the only number I know of) it seems they charge you for calling them from THEIR own number! Seems to be not that cheap either.

I have Neostrada and cannot complain about it. I am phoning everywhere for free (landlines, not mobile).

Merged: Cancelletion of UPC internet service

First of all,Thank you all for helping me out always.

I have a problem with cancelling the internet service of UPC.
I've been using this since this April but I have to go back to my country next week,14 Nov.
I've called to UPC custmer service for many times, but the operaters were soooo useless.
They always go like this, after I ask them what I should do about cancellation.

"ok,I will transfer to someone who know this"
I wait for long time,
"Sorry,they are busy,so he/she will call back.bye"

But....Nobody call....It's sooo annoying!!

It's really urgent, that's why I am writing here.

If someone know what I should do?

I am thinking to go UPC office, and will bring modem too.Does ayone know if they will take and I can cancel?
Literally I don't have time. This situation is something I didn't expect,I am not coming back to Poland.

Any info or advice will be apriciated.

Dziekuje serdecznie!! :)

P.S UPC has WORST custmer service EVER!!!!!!

Of course, you need to go there. Sure, UPC are not brilliant but what a relief from Aster City that UPC bought up a few years ago! If you had been using Aster City (I did for years first of all because they were the only ones in my building), you would have found UPC marvellous (I do). Aster City had short opening hours, was closed on Saturdays and to go there, one had to take a day off from work because huge lines even 1 hour before they opened (if I remember it was at 10 or 10:30) and it was very complicated to schedule a technician at home. UPC is almost great and since they have bought up Aster City, I have never had any problem with them.

This morning,I've finally reached to right person to talk with.

He gave me every single information I need(I hope he gave me it correctly lol)
So I am heading to the office next week with modem and documents..

When I finish cancellation successfully,I will write here for someone in need in the future :)

Poland's UPC and Internet speed

Hi everyone,

I recently signed a contract without commitment with UPC, for up to 250 mb/s.

Today Internet was installed on my house, and I am kinda disappointed with the test results ...

-Wifi : 31.83 mb/s Download - 18.80 mb/s Upload
-Cable : 72.61 mb/s Download - 19.07 mb/s Upload

As you can see, the connection doesn't even reach 120 mb/s.

Any advice? Does anyone achieve the same results with the 250 mb/s option offered by UPC?

UPC, for up to 250 mb/s.

A lot of things can affect it. Somebody will be along presently who knows what they're talking about, but:

1. What is your wireless card? Configured properly?
2. Wireless carries better in different environments. In my lump of oversized concrete it is shite.
3. How many connections on the box
4. Interference from other wireless.
5. Time of day

I have the same package for a mythical 250 MB. You will never attain anything like that anyway. Average download for me in the city 70 MB wireless/130 MB cable. Download speeds average 6 MB/sec.

@Dougpol1, Thank you for your answer. After rebooting the router, the connection by cable reaches almost 250 mb / s, but the connection by wifi remains almost the same. I am waiting for an USB adapter in order to use 5 GHz, so I hope it gets better.

but the connection by wifi remains almost the same.

That's normal. The 2.4ghz band in particular is crowded in cities, though you can use a wifi analyser to choose the least crowded channel. The 5ghz band isn't so crowded, but don't expect the signal to propagate well.
