Though the very few Polish in my acquaintance are "old Fashioned" I dont think it quite applies without details.

1) Are you on maternity leave from employ .... or UNemployed? were you full time before or part time?

A change in finances make eating out and having gym memberships is costly. WHO watches baby while you are at gym? Does it cost?

2) Is he working long hours? He is working LONGER hours to make up for your being out of circulation?

WHO is to clean? Babies SLEEP a lot just not very scheduled. You should be napping and catching up on household sanitation every time that lil creature closes it precious eyes. Modest cleaning IS part of taking car of your baby.

3) How much household chores did he have allocated before?

And as for not cooking.. is he expecting full traditional meals ?or something my 7 year old is capable of preparing?

It is hard to say if he is being an overbearing chavanist on what you say...

Oh Yum That sounds like a Bohemian Basque dish my Baginski/Bagɲes family brought from Portugal ! tavă

Simply means literal grilled or skillet cooked. Main Ingredients are salway spicy Sausage,Bell Peppers, Peppers, Tomatoes, Onions, Garlic and usually a squash added last like zuccini or summer squash or Eggplant. Added spices are Paprika, Tarragon and Cilantro/chinese parsley and sea salt. Regionally add Mushrooms, Ham and fresh firm seafood. Usually langistino or prawn

After braising teh main ingredients and all meats; you add the tomatoes and remainder and simmer about 2 hours in iron skillet or pan (and in alternate last 30 minutes you add the soft vegetables during last 30 minutes). Eat over a sturdy fresh bread. Mmmmmmmm!

It is hard..
there were so many hoops to leap that this Sept a visit was cancelled. He is wholesome college student from good family and no bad record.

If the rate of complications that military friends had is anything to go by, it is tougher for quite a few EU nations it seems, especially E and Central.

But I have been instrumental in getting legal and illegal mexicans Visas (my mum married a legal and his cousins were NOT). Yet when I used the same process for a simple visit Visa? it PHAiLD. I was shocked. The whole summer was wasted trying to do this. At least most the funds were returned.

Next time it will be a finacee Visa. And I had that process set up for me by an atty, so when we are ready I just date everything and send the packets.

I only hope when we and our kid(s) go other direction it is not so hard.

I can't say I "love it "since it is romantic concept til I actually begin living there. I better learn to love it since the long range plans with my betrothed is retiring there.. ^_^ Which is part of reason I am here. To learn more of present poland.

But I did always like archaic history of the region including, Polish history.
I was always *le sigh* as a lil girl over Hussars, specially the Polish Winged Calvary. Sketched historical battles, dinosaurs, puppies, horses, castles and Hussars. Oh and fair maidens. Still do, well not so much puppies and dinosaurs anymore.

And I like the sound of it spoken more than the Boheme I grew up with. So soft. And I certainly love the foods.

My bestest best friend in all the world is 1/2 Polish 1st generation stateside. Been in Germany last 6 years.
My chosen sister for 13 years is Slovak
My second bestest best friend... is gonna marry me and is native.
There is something beyond coincidence in this.

Realistically I am hoping it it is not too humid, I am asthmatic. I hope I find something to do while retired. I'm normally kinda of outdoorsy. This past 2 years is unsual. Wow, as I was dithering and lurking; this thread sure took a turn!

I 'm an opinionated cuss myself ..but no need to get so mean and personal.

Though I have met very few former native Polish here in US (I must live in places that dont interest them?), I have met a plethora of people...and quite a few illegals as well. Though I've seen some use the system (and big fat momma from Okie town don't?), in general I have only seen a widespread use of the system by latinos and Armenians. Mostly Mexicans.

Regardless of that , I must say to OP; I have -as a fairly white looking rehead American with Southern accent- met very few new arrived/1st generaton "foriegn" people living in US that "Hate" Americans.

Many cultures regard us spoiled and lazy. They are not wholly incorrect. But they are usually the ones cringing in expectation of me saying something terrible because my sterotype acccent.

Horrible suburbs? are just neighborhoods about to become ghettos. The real Estate booms that hit in 80s ( i was home in AZ during the Keating 5) and then again in the Bailouts left ghosttowns that were not maintained and brought down rest of the area. But most suburbs I know still look nice even being 30-40 years old.

(I admit that the Valley in LA, Geary Ave in SF, Virgina Beach, VA; Phoenix/Mesa AZ; and Oly , WA are the only large Cities that Ive lived in Suburbs instead of on post. Most areas I've lived were Military Compounds and Rural suburbs. But I've only seen that kind of hellhole in mostly abandoned hoods or places where govt did sudden relocate of the not best representatives of some countries en mass)

The few Polish I have met that were able to communicate enough, were pessimistic, introverted dry weisenhiemers that got totally bombed when partying. But Hate American's? Nope. Goes for most transplants I've met incl illegal : Laotions, Vietamese, Mexicans, Dominicans, Russians, Armenians and one surly canuck (whhhyyyy? lol. He stayed in Phx and worked undertable. too surly to get along with other canadians?*snerk*). Goes for military spouses from other places.

All I ever got in a consensus is our food sucks and is bad for you. >_<

Okay I lie..! That one location sounded interesting! most I made as a general contractor was 21/hr. That company went under when owner's wife got cancer. I went Army. But whatever state that is ; warszawianka ? I want to work where I make 50/hr under table!! !! Me! Me..pick me! I do drywall, plumbing, plasterwork, brickwork, stonework, framing and carpet. I also do tile work, including pool as well as roofing including slate tile when I was licensed. I never got trained or wanted electrical or AC work. I can operate heavy equip(thx uncle sam). I read blueprints, can mix concrete. I also can weld wrought iron. I can pretend to know bad english..I'l speak enough pidgin basque or tsalagi. I 'll dye my hair dark and be their big dumb indian the whole building season for 50/hr tax free!

And those easy benefits! My youngest is disabled and I have to fight and prove Im not rich overnight nor him cured EVERY 3 months. Though mostly Boheme, I have "Hispanic" and 1/8 "Native American", I'm female. Over 40 AND a 10%disabled VETERAN. I'm the token EVERYTHING! I get? NADA In NC/AZ and FL this applied. It must be same trick those hoodrats in designer gear with bling and iphones use in SW US.

Man, I should get EVERYTHING in that state! ;p

Not really anymore... other than the free and easy way of "asylum" or illegals with anchor children. Even tighter since 911.

But even before that my neighbors at Ft Campbell. A russian professional couple that had to downgrade and he was doing military service and still needing the unit support to fight for his wife's visa. Or my dear Slovak freind Janka who married an American. She also had extra woes and requirements.

My German friend however, even divorced, became a citizen in 8 years.

Heh..I must concur!! (Though I'd like to hear it. <_< >_> ^_^ cuz it means I made him forget english !)

And not slavic in general. I did not find my inlaws russian accents sexy, merely interesting. French is sloppy to me, I do not find it that romantic to hear, only the concepts of the archaic poets. Spanish passable if it is Antonio Banderas saying it , LOL.

I loved the soft sounds that are in the Portuguese, Basque and Boheme spoken in my households. Specially the higher tenor intonations of the Boheme men still around as I grew up.

I also like the accents of romanians and hungarians speaking english.

When I was still multilingual before my car wreck, I was not likely to say anything in a learned language like french while..um... occupied with a lover. And better the um... attentions, the less English I could remember. Even now laudable perfomance can still get phrases of Tsalagi, Portuguese or Boheme out of me when I don't barely remember it the rest of time. Some not fit for polite company. What a terribly risky thing to do. So irresponisble. I am not sure how UK goes it. But when in custody battles it is hard enough to not have a wholesome boyfriend or fiancee scrutinized and demonized. I don't know if he likes the American in me. He does like that I am buxom and a redhead (not all guys like redheads). And he does enjoy that we are both trolly. They paid more on surgery for one of the dogs than I have on my last car. He is only son in family with professor grandparents and some engineers.

I am not sure why the OP is all in arms that somehow Poland is an oppressor of idiots who like to get drunk enough to be noticed as under influence; even on bicycles and having laws in effect that protect the general public. BUT many states in the US consider bikes a moving vehicle and they are subject to the same trafic laws as motor vehicles. Technically they are to be on street following traffic and NOT on pedestrian walkway menacing the ones those thoroughfares are intended.

A guy I was dating (and for obviousl reason stopped) was arrested in WA state and jailed and fined for Drunk jaywalking (and nearly causing a bad accident on rainy night) ,public drunk and of course going all angry drunk saying "MY RIGHTS" =resisting arrest. He got an article 15 as well (military sanction).

I had to actually test and get a license to ride my bike to school 3 blocks away as a child under 18 in Burbank CA..a test run by the LA County Sheriff's Dept. back in the 70s. Many states do have requirements to ride on street in certain cities.

Many states have laws against drunk walking and cycling if it is on the road. And if they are safely off road.. it must be surely a bored and diligent (or reading playboy in a dark corner of field) officer to catch them !

I don't drink and operate anything. Boat, Car, Bike..... and I often offered my friends a ride anytime as a designated driver. I love my friends. Even when they are stupid.

I would ask what the Church is actively doing to support and assist these couple that "did it right"? Or the community of parish members?

Especially in countries where it is so supported and has so loud a voice. My small catholic church in Arizona rural mtn town actually gave assistance with daycare. I was a volunteer watcher then. No other parish has yet, regardless of size, affluence or region; that I've seen.

I have 3 children at this point of time. 7-15-17. I would likely had 1-2 more if not for CHILDCARE and the high curve of RENTERING WORK FORCE. And I started late so ruined the career I worked a decade to build. I suppose in some regions you can beat this out by having a rapid litter bang-bang-bang straight out of high school and THEN working you career up..IF the default working partner is supportive, stable, mature, grounded and really pulls during the adjustments. So many "IFS". I am in full support of traditional and conservative values. Even if I fell short myself >_<.

When (understanding a "should" since long term planning sometimes can go awry) my dearest and I marry we have spoken of children.

(I am a divorcee. Even now, still having my parish work out how I can be in my position.LOL. The parameters for allowable divorce and remarriage within the Church are met. And then some. BUT There are some criteria that inbue that I was not even considered properly married. So how to not have my children -all baptised-..become bastards overnight is a pickle ^_^ )
