Love / Do young Polish ladies 17-23 speak any English? [59]

Intruiged just be aware that a fair number of posters on this thread are trolling and baiting you. If you hang out here longer you will be able to sort the chaff from the wheat. Just be aware not to take everyone here seriously. btw the legal drinking age in poland is 18 :) And yes there is a small percentage of poles who are skinheads and will not like you much but the vast majority are cool as long as u don't crack onto anyones girlfriend.

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

Yes, I saw some of them yesterday shouting "palić, sadzić, zalegalizować"

Expected blow back from youth when you send masked anti terrorist units breaking down doors looking for a few grams of grass, and then put said posseser of herb in jail with murderers and rapists. Actually decriminilisation of marijuana and other drugs has been proven to reduce societel harms in portugal and czech republic.

PO is now caught between a rock and a hard stone, implement austerity measures to reduce the debt or risk losing EU funding.

Of course closing corporate and company loopholes and increasing tax on the super rich does not enter into their status quo equation. I don't even think they will be able to streamline the public sector to the level that cuts are needed.

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

interesting that 25 % of young people voted for the palikot movement. The backlash against the mainstream parties has started, it will be the next parlamentary elections where there will be a shakeup.

News / Poland Parliament elections in October 2011 [944]

Exit poles say that palikot party got 10% ! This is amazing.. Good stuff. !

Marcin Sobczyk, the Dow Jones Warsaw bureau chief told us tonight: “It looks like the current PO/PSL coalition can be in for another four years. The current parliament will have a more leftwing character [however] with the Palikot Movement getting 10 percent. The general mood will be far more leftist,” he said, referring to Palikot's promise to legalise soft drugs and his call for a clearer separation between chirch and state.

adamlyshit, shut your mouth, wypierdalaj stąd, wruc do wody i jakies comix, you give polish people a bad name, both in the country you left in bitterness and in england.

poles are way smarter

Unfortunately you are not an example for that. you are only good for painting englishmen houses, and then you can lick their boots for an extra 10 pounds, so in your frustration you come on this forum and have a impotent *****.. (yawn)

Wroclaw, don't hold what i wrote a long time ago, after first coming to this forum and experiencing harry and delphia instantly against me :_)

News / Tusk wants to privatize PKP Cargo. [38]

Indeed if the germans are afraid to privatise DB, why should poland go first with a much more inmature market economy?

@nahummer
nice blog post. A lot of effort when into it.
yes for the money they are spending to build 3 new high speed rail lines that go 250kph they could spend the money to get a multitude more tracks up to 150 or even 100kph. In a country where many regional trains travel at 40kph the hsr is 2 steps too far.

News / Tusk wants to privatize PKP Cargo. [38]

The only important thing is to make sure that there are no barriers to other companies running freight operations in Poland, too. It should certainly not be the case that whoever buys PKP Cargo also buys a monopoly.

This. And the fact the the goverment will be constantly subsidising pkp cargo through investments in rail infrastracture. Privatised Pkp Cargo will pay ridiculously low rates for usage of tracks as is the case now when owned by the goverment. This is good when both are owned by the goverment but not if one area is privatised. I will do some research on the polish rail forums and see what general mood is.

News / Tusk wants to privatize PKP Cargo. [38]

The price is ridiculous , and the goverment should hold on to its assets, at least to subsidize the passenger side of things.

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [380]

To be fair, you don't know that.

Ironside, how many minutes before departure did you arrive at the gate? was it an iternational or domestic flight?

Did they put you on the next flight? How much extra did you have to pay?

Travel / Why does everyone seem to hate LOT Polish Airlines? [380]

Well as you know ironside, many of the areobridges are unused and they still buses to ship people out to the planes. Therefore if you were late to boarding it might have been more of an effort than at an aero bridge, but yes you are right to an extent, it actually takes another 10 or so minutes to find the passengers bag and offload so sop is to delay the flight slightly for the passenger who has checked in but not yet boardedl.

Now i feel this may have been an individual staff problem and not an indictment of lot in general. They have made some good strides lately, and considering their ceo is only on 200k or so, are playing it smart. Their new long haul route to vietnam has been a sucsess and the only reason their long haul planes appear old is that they are waiting for the massively delayed 787s, like everyone else.

yes expats.cz is the gold standard of expat sites, pf does not hold a candle to it. But it does reflect the chaotic and spontaneous and stubborn nature of poland :)

Palikot has a lot to offer to secular, young poles who want to radically change the course of the country. A polish ron paul if you will.

Life / Expats/Immigrants in Poland: Needy, Greedy or contributor. Which one are you? [118]

yes cms but my point is that in western europe social democracies it is the goverment role to provide these sporting facilities to their citizens, and it is subsidised by the taxpayers. Because poland pretty much adobted a american free market model various goverment departments did not fufill that role, and no money was spent on sporting facilities. Schools have no ideological or community motivation to provide cheap facilities to the community. Hence the position we find ourselves in.

Life / Expats/Immigrants in Poland: Needy, Greedy or contributor. Which one are you? [118]

Before the goverment provided access to sport and cultural activities , with the fall of communisim this has not yet been replaced by a community or goverment area.

There were whole floors of the palace of culture dedicated to sporting and cultural activities for poles, all provided for free by the gov. When communism collapsed and the chicago school of economics dictated a top down free market approach, all these things were eliminated.
