History / History of Polish-Russian relations [186]

Time to stop all russian gas imports, however hard that will be,

Use coal assets to convert into syngas or methanol like Germany did in WWII.

Travel / Are Polish people as unfriendly as Slovaks? [84]

I've been to Slovakia - beautiful mountains, but people look at you like they want to kill you or something ;D

...and here I thought Poles and Slovaks were country cousins

Life / Why do so many Polish strive to be accepted by the West? [78]

Exactly, Poles are West Slavs. Poland has always looked West in fact they are Western Europe. They were responsible for the Renaissance along with Italy & France.

Historically Poland contributed to Western Culture. Russian domination was an aberration.

News / Should Poland exit the EU immediately? [377]

When you win an election you can't throw all the opposition out. That's not governing. Even Lech Walesa said as much and he's no liberal.

News / Should Poland exit the EU immediately? [377]

Poland can't go on it's own. Poles are showing that they can't govern themselves. They need the EU to keep a check on the fascist elements in the political class. Poland is showing that when it comes to governance they are adolescents.

Love / Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Find Polish Women Attractive? [93]

I have never even heard a stereotype like that. Do you talk about uneducated British chavs who prefer to stay on benefits instead of doing lowest paid jobs? There are minorities like that in every country.

The British lack self confidence to be ambitious.

That's also a new one. But there is quite true stereotype about Polish women that they don't work and like to be taken care of by their men, how is that ambitious?

No way. Polish women are shrewd and ambitious and love to work. If you like a working wife marry a Polish girl. If you want a stay at home Mum take an English wife. English and Polish women are as different as chalk and cheese.

Love / Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Find Polish Women Attractive? [93]

British women have beter sense of individualism, better sense of humour, are more ambitious, and emotionally more stable while Polish women are very often a moody cows. The only thing that Polish women beat British women on average is obesity problem, but since fast food is getting more and more popular in Poland they will catch up them quite soon.

I prefer British women also, but more ambitious? Being ambitious and being British doesn't exist...and there's no one more ambitious than Polish women.

History / Polish Easter Tradition is also pagan! [47]

Criticizing the Catholic Church's pagan traditions has no reflection of my belief in God. You should read the Gospel and pay particular attention to Matthew and where you read pharisee, cross out and write in Roman Catholic Priest. Thus the Gospel will become very clear to you.

History / Polish Easter Tradition is also pagan! [47]

That's not all, the reason why Easter changes its dates every year is because it follows the phases of the moon. Very pagan.

USA, Canada / 15 hr. motion on a minimum wage. (USA) [24]

Does it matter if i'm from money??? That has nothing to do with this

It has everything to do with it. It's how you perceive the world. Wealthy people obsess over the value of their currency. The problem we have in the economy now (not just in the US but worldwide) is a lack of demand. Deflation not inflation. Raising the minimum wage will increase demand. Hint, Henry Ford doubled the pay of his workers in 1915 so that they could afford to buy the cars he was building, thereby increasing demand.

It doesn't help the economy when Wal Mart pays so low that the workers qualify for food stamps. That's a huge subsidy for business and contradicts the "Free Market".

As for paying fast food workers, I would have to look at their profit/loss statement. But there is something to be said for a quality workforce, that is paid well enough to hang around.

USA, Canada / 15 hr. motion on a minimum wage. (USA) [24]

HAHAHAHAHAHA

You must be from money. The minimum wage in the 1960's was equivalent to over $10/hr. and the world didn't end. Workers need to make more to spend more and circulate money throughout the economy. Our economy is slow due to low wages and no one has money to spend. BTW I'm a business owner, who if he hires someone will be in the $18-$21/hr. range.

History / Time for Slavic Commonwealth around Poland as center [223]

Yeah, i've heard that excuse. If Poland focused on what's good for Poland they could become independent. Poland never would have been dominated by other countries if they would have had good governance.

History / Time for Slavic Commonwealth around Poland as center [223]

here it is. Direct question. Now tell me. Shall we Eastern Europeans and Slavs from Baltic to Balkan and Black see take our destine in our hands or shall we stay eternal younger partner within EU and/or NATO?

If Poland was smart they'd get out of the Euro and become independent like Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, etc. You've been dominated for 250 years by Germany and Russia, maybe it's time to try something different.

Love / My wife has been secretly sending money back to Poland [16]

Small potatoes. My wife works and pays very few of the bills. It's just the way it is. Why quibble over the little stuff. The money I make is in a joint account, the money she makes is in her account. But who cares, I don't.

USA, Canada / Polish friends, what would be your preferred US state/city to live in? [17]

Yes, I agree. Unfortunately recent Polish emigres don't gravitate to the most attractive places. The best I can think of is Northwest side Chicago. Artur makes a good point about New England but unfortunately they are not as welcoming to strangers. She won't have that problem in the Mid West.

USA, Canada / Polish friends, what would be your preferred US state/city to live in? [17]

If one wants Polonia. The above cities is where they are, among others. If she wants a stable social situation, low crime rate, good schools, low unemployment, etc., she'll have to migrate to the American hinterland: North Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, MInnesota etc. but she won't find a recent Polonia there. Polish Americans but they'll have little in common with recent Polish emigres. If she wants urban living, Minneapolis. If she doesn't mind smaller towns, Bismarck, Lincoln, Des Moines, If your skeptical, crime stats, education stats, employment stats are easy to check. These states rank highest in low crime, education and low unemployment. But she won't find a Polish sausage within 500 miles.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

no. not everybody is cut out to own a gun. you don't want to be affraid to go to a movie theater or shopping. America has its problem, do not let it happen in Poland:

pgtx, those shootings are staged, intended to intimidate the people. They pulled off the same thing in Nazi Germany in the 1930's, and as for "don't let it happen in Poland", it did happen in Poland in the 1940's.

Life / Halloween vs All Saints' Day in Poland [48]

Halloween isn't American!

Smurf, Halloween was brought to America by the Irish Catholics. You have any idea how many people of Irish descent live in the States? About a quadzillion. You went east, you shoulda went west with the rest of your brethren.

But it's also the first day of winter, that's why the ancient Britains picked November 1st for their remembrance of the dead holiday.

Life / I hate Warsaw. The worst part about living here is the people who move here from small towns, villages.. [129]

[quote=Poloniam] Yesterday, 10:49pm ☓ #

I am Polish but from the NYC area... I love NYC but there is just something about it... maybe it is just to crowded with building for my taste... don't get me wrong, I am a big city lover. New York just has to many buildings[/quote

Chicago is much better than NYC. It has all the amenities of a major metro but also a community atmosphere to it.

History / Communism fell 20 years ago, Poland led the fight since WW2 [341]

It was Poles who imprisoned Poles.

True. This thread is an attempt to absolve Poles of any responsibility for their history. The fact is after WWII Poles embraced communism, if not why didn't they accept the Marshall Plan when it was offered? Poles are totally delusional about their history.

Polish people, you're responsible for Poland, not England, not France, not Russia, not Germany, not Austria, etal.

Law / Why is Poland importing so much coal? [76]

You can make methanol, ethanol and natural gas from coal. Converting coal to gas takes 50% of the carbon out of the waste stream. It's not in the interest of Poland or the UK for that matter to import coal when they have such large reserves and have to import so much energy. Both countries can reduce their imports of oil by adding methanol/ethanol to the gasoline mix and clean up their emissions to boot.
