The Kantors are the best rates in the cities, but shop around as there can be big differences.

Travel / Changing money in Poland [15]

Those days are gone. " big differences " ? ...... I don,t think so.

The Hitman, how wrong can you be, In Krakow for example there is always as much as 10% difference between the good and bad Kantors.

I don't understand why people still use kantors. Taking money out of machines gives you a decent rate. Perhaps I'm just with a reasonable bank....

Why wouldn't you use Kantors, they give you the best rates at zero commission?

I even use them for large transactions, bringing cash from UK and changing at a Kantor, always gives me an even better rate than using any of the main Forex companies.

UK, Ireland / British Equivalents to Matura Results [30]

MATURA is closer to Scottish Revised Higher Grades or England's A-Grades.

You mean levels not grades.

The Matura is the equivalent of English A-Levels.

Have a look at Wiki to see what grades mean in terms of points.

Travel / Beware GTI Travel in Poland [2]

They have a little scam they pull to get last minute holiday bookings.

They alter the rating of a hotel from 3 to 5 stars on the screens seen by travel agents. When they've got a few bookings they change it back again.

The agent contacts the client and says they can cancel, but by then it's usually too late to rebook somewhere else.

GTI then refuse to recompense the client claiming that they should have looked at their brochure or website for the correct details instead of relying on the Travel agents information.

History / Should David Irving, Holocaust denier, be allowed to run tours to Poland? [246]

It seems that the, formerly convicted, British Holocaust denier David Irving is starting to run tours to former nazi concentration camps and other sites in Poland.

The Nigdy Więcej (Never Again) anti-racist organisation have called for 'Holocaust denier' British historian David Irving to be banned from entering Poland later this month.

Starting September 27, Irving is leading a tour party, with tickets costing around 1,500 euros each, taking in sites including the Treblinka death camp, Warsaw Ghetto and Hitler's Bunker in the Masurian lake district.

Travel / Cheapest and quickest route from Wales to Poland by car? [11]

You don't tell us whereabouts in Poland they are heading, it makes a big difference to the best route, and also the advice.

For many areas I'd recommend Dover to Dunkirk, then a virtual straight run to Berlin then it depends which city in Poland you want to go to. No tolls at all on this route, apart from the Severn Bridge (I forget whether you pay going into or out of Wales) and the Dartford crossing.

As long as you have an address in UK that you can use for correspondence (Parents, family etc) then just apply for the renewal with a change of address.
