Travel / Poland or Philippines? Which is better for a vacation? (sex tourism) [39]

I don't think he is looking for a relationship; I think he just wants sex, guaranteed, and at a bargain price. Like I said, he is not an exception; huge industry, oldest profession and all that, there is no denying that. He does, however, have some misconceptions about how much of a bargain Poland would be.

Johnny, he is not the first, or the last that would like an escape vacation with some chance of a "romance", to put it nicely. You have made your point, but now seem to find entertainment in insulting others as much as possible. Not as funny as you might think. Much sadder overall, actually.

I actually don't mind a guy being honest enough to admit what his priorities are. Crude, but those are the realities. There are enough women whose priorities might fit with his. I still say 4K is not enough for a month Poland, though, unless he's hoping some Polish beauty will take him in and entertain him on the chance he'll take her to the promised land, like in the olden days. ;)

What hotel are you going to stay at, eat and drink for 30 days for four grand? And "impress" the ladies on top of that? You don't have enough money for Poland. And you're not going to have a good time calling Poland a third world country. Philippines, definitely.

Love / My Love Story: my 'good' family vs her 'bad' family in Poland [25]

Have you actually met her family? Maybe somebody is trying break you two up by feeding you a bunch of unsubstantiated gossip about her family. Your mama, maybe? Old girlfriend? Or someone who wants to steal your girl?

Work / Why English Teachers stay long term in Poland [30]

DominicB quote:"A lot of employers and academics have a very big soft spot for cashiers, waiters, valets and the like that does not extend to EFL teachers."

That's too bad. When I was hiring, a stint in a foreign country, especially with employment, would count much higher than a job as a cashier in a neighborhood store. One takes more independent thinking, initiative, and generally, balls, than the other.

Work / Why English Teachers stay long term in Poland [30]

I still think that teaching English in Poland for a year is more valuable for a new graduate that backpacking through Europe. At least shows some working experience. Also, more valuable, as a life experience, than working as a cashier, or a server in a restaurant.

Good post, CMC!
Some become English teachers as a means to support themselves as they try to get the travel bug out of their system, before they settle down.

They might not mean to do this for too long, but then, the Polish girls.. ;)

Love / Are Polish men shy and take things slow? [116]

Have you considered that a relationship with a boss might cost him his job? This might be a very difficult situation for him. In most companies, one half of the couple should not be in charge of the other half. Often, one person has to be moved to another department, but if a position in another department is not available, or is not a good fit, one person might have to leave.

Food / POLISH RECIPES! [287]

Gosc123456, I'm confused.
You said that such cakes are DECLINED by most western cultures.
Surely you didn't mean that.
Decline = reject, refuse

Law / Problems in Poland - Swiss mortgage, bankruptcy, jail, mental health etc [26]

One of the way I observed many people dealt with their upside-down mortgage here in the US, they simply stopped paying their mortgage. It annoyed me to no end seeing few people I know live rent free for close to a year, because that's how long it took the banks to repossess their houses. All along convinced that it was entirely banks' fault.

News / US slaps Poland in the face (Comey Poland) [92]

I definitely don't want to takes sides here, and I honestly don't care what somebody said, but I really hate it when a sentence or two are plucked out of a statement and used to rile people. They should have printed a whole speech. These 10 seconds "soundbites" so prevalent today try to make their readers into morons (if they're not morons already ;) ).

here is the link to the speech, I'm sure most of us here are capable of getting its point:

Language / Could someone please translate a couple of sections of this movie? [7]

First she says the movie is hard to describe, it works like a narcotic. In the second part they talk about what may have happened to Miranda. He: "She chose freedom". She "Freedom? As in disappearing into thin air?". He: "or escaped. Into another dimension. Secrets are hard to analyze."

Off-Topic / Eurovision - Today I will be ashamed to be Polish [340]

Wait, she's in the wheelchair? Am I the worst cynic in the world, or is anyone else thinking that Poland is trying to atone for the last year's entry and going a completely different approach? It would be a slam-dunk if she turned out to be a transvestite, too. ;)

Life / How To Make the Poland Homeless Happy [7]

[Moved from]: Help for Poland's homeless

Now, Poland's most desperate can get the help they need, once they register electronically:

The Polish newspaper, 'Dziennik Gazeta Prawna' has reported the Polish Ministry of Employment has spent forty-nine million PLN on setting up an internet portal to provide help for the homeless. Thirty-eight million PLN of these funds has been provided by the European Union.

Food / Which Polish milk brand is closest to UK supermarket style milk? [31]

When I was growing up in Poland my mom always boiled the milk before we used it.
Unless we were on my grandparents farm, where we drank it straight from the cow. Sort of speak. ;)
I guess she trusted our cows, or the delivery system, more.

Love / Polish girls hard in relationships [156]

Looks like somebody got burned.. In all honesty, relationships do go bad, and a guy speaking warmly of an ex is a rarity.
Here is stereotypical take on the situation:

Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

Sadly, I find that more religious people are, more intolerant they are of the "outsiders".
