Off-Topic / WB's body building and general fitness thread [97]

My advice is to wrap it up before it's too late (ie. before the permanent damage is irreversible) and focus exclusively on body weight exercises, speed walking, and running. You'd be surprised you cannot run 2 miles within 15 minutes now and you will in a year or so ;)

Better than expected. Still, my 'problem' with bodybuilding is that you must be 100% devoted to it; when you take a longer break you end up where you were a year ago. That includes diet (when you stop working out you gain weight faster than you'd normally would).

Feedback / Is the Administrator of the P.F. a Native Pole ? [80]

Comparing it to politics... if I was a typical Russian person, I'd want Putin to administrate the forum; otherwise, I'd prefer someone neutral without a hidden agenda to do it. If I knew Putin is a moderator, I'd be afraid to express my true opinions because the authority will always have an advantage over me ;)

Genealogy / Ruzycki and Marciniuk families research [3]

Are you sure the first name reads: Ruzycki? It has probably derived from the Polish word 'róża' (rose). In Polish, such words are supposed to use the 'ó' instead of 'u.' On the other hand, if it's related to a Polish person from the US, I'd not be surprised there is a spelling mistake there ;). Regarding Marciniuk, no idea (other than it could derive from the first Polish name "Marcin" - "Martin").

Law / Retirement laws in Poland [11]

I wonder if it's possible to start contributing to ZUS at an older age, let's say, 60 and still get benefits at 67.. probably there are some minimum number of years to pay into the system to get benefits and age alone may not be enough.

Travel / Public Transportation in Poland [30]

That's even more of a reason to check it before providing the transportation service... ;)

Travel / Public Transportation in Poland [30]

Merged: Public bus/train transportation in Poland - fining passengers for lack of tickets?

I hear more and more complaints about public transportation city buses ticket collectors (so called 'kanary'). Their job is to find and fine people who don't have a valid ticket. It's supposedly a big business in Poland? Isn't it possible to check if a passenger has a valid ticket BEFORE he/she enters the bus? :)

USA, Canada / Best way to send thousands of dollars to Poland into a bank account. Paying a bill. [6]

Western Union business services may be even cheaper, there is even a fixed-fee option regardless the transaction amount, but not sure if they are available in Canada (they are in the US). Also, a regular bank transfer may work well (could be a cheap option if bank has locations both in America and Europe).

USA, Canada / Cheap Shipping to Poland from the US? [5]

Polamerusa.com and Domashipping.com deal with shippings between the US and Poland; they probably do it two ways, you may contact them.

News / RIP Tadeusz Mazowiecki - Poland's first prime minister after the fall of communism [7]

Good point - one of the reasons could be that Jaruzelski lived longer than one might have expected. Still, there is no point to talk bad about those who left this world; it's ok to discuss their achievements or failures in the context of their professional activities, but there must be some higher standards when it comes to discussing their personal lives.

Work / In search of an English speaking Au Pair in Poland [14]

Does anybody knows if there is aupairing between philippines and poland?

You shouldn't have problems finding a job in big Poland cities (you could probably be hired for foreigners in Poland too).

USA, Canada / Why indian origin woman as Miss America and never Polish origin? [37]

And to prove my point, today's Miss World TOP 3 are:

1. The Phillipines ('Yellow' race).
2. France ('White' race).
3. Ghana ('Black' race).

Yet another coincidence? No. It was supposed to be like that before the show started. I'm just trying to tell people not to get excited about such events for the masses because what they see is a pre-manufactured news.

BY THE WAY. Someone might have think -- ok, but there's also the 'Hispanic' race? Not to worry:

4. Spain.
5. Brazil.

And I'm not 'racist' - I just don't like being fooled by the 'high priests' who try to manipulate the reality. Next year's news: TOP 3 Miss World will be: Hispanic, Yellow, White, Black (in random order).

USA, Canada / Why indian origin woman as Miss America and never Polish origin? [37]

I just assumed someoene like Miss America would be extraordinary.

You still don't get my point. These days the words don't actually mean what they are supposed to mean and most people don't even realize that:

- Miss World is not the most beautiful woman.
- Nobel Peace Prize winner hates peace.
- Expert in finance cannot count to 100.
- A devouted believer doesn't believe in God.
- Exemplary husband or wife masturbate in public.
- Healthy eating proponent is obese.
- Raising debt ceiling is nor raising debt.
- The most popular man is in fact a woman.

Btw. I was some years off with my assumption above:

A transgender student at Marina High School in Huntington Beach made history Friday evening by becoming the school's Homecoming Queen.

USA, Canada / Why indian origin woman as Miss America and never Polish origin? [37]

It's about 'no to racism, political correctness, and globalization' at this time (and in the years to come, probably). I won't be surprised in a few years a drag queen or a 'third gender' will win the prize.

I didn't watch the show but I'm sure there were girls with a better physical appearance (ie. when I see her body fat near the arms and breast area I assume she's not a frequent gym goer). Don't get me wrong - she is very nice, but not stunning (A. Kreglicka was not stunning either).

USA, Canada / Why indian origin woman as Miss America and never Polish origin? [37]

What's wrong with having a woman of Indian descent as Miss America?

Nothing. It's just meaningless who wins because whoever wins is decided in advance by the current political or social needs as determined by the 'highest priests' of this world.

For example, it was not a coincidence that the Polish woman, Aneta Kreglicka, was announced Miss World in 1989. It was a political decision, nothing else. In 1989 / 90 Poland and Europe started the new era. To celebrate it, Poland was awarded the prize.

In other words, all these contests for the masses are just that - reality shows that have the winner before the 'official' or 'public' voting. There's nothing exciting about them at all if you realize you are being duped ;)

USA, Canada / Would you live in California, USA? [240]

Ehhhhh I doubt that, Florida is WAY WAY too hot.

Not in places like Sarasota. Yes, many parts (like Orlando) are hot, but not the bay area (especially in the 10 mile radius from the ocean).

USA, Canada / Would you live in California, USA? [240]

Definitely not. Liberal state, waaay too much taxes and regulations, too much Mexican gangs influence. Plus a big earthquake is coming. People from CA are moving to FL (much nicer beaches and safer, especially in the bay area).
