History / What should Russia and Poland do to become if not friends, then at least not enemies? [939]

Patriot is primarily an anti-aircraft system, its anti- ballistic functions are secondary (only for the US Army).

Thats wrong. The US emphasises ballistic defense because, recently, that's the only sort of weapon that has been used against it. It can shoot down aircraft very effectively, but expensively.

Poland's Patriot system is fundamentally different in that the SkyCeptor missile (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David%27s_Sling) is cheap enough to be used against ALL targets.

I will take one for the team in order to make the forum a better place and more about Poland.

I saw Harry in downtown Warsaw last week.

johnny reb has visited Poland Shocker!!

My God, are you telling me that the Yanks actually do have a connection and interest in Poland?

If Delph is such an issue, why don't and the others put him on your ignore list, stop talking about irrelevant American subjects and get back to Polish subjects.

Delph at least does make an effort some times.

Life / Rowing clubs in Krakow? [5]

Its a very underutilised river. I could be because of historic or current pollution. You can see the Salwater rowing club when you walk along the riverbank, you could just ask there.

UK, Ireland / Ireland and Poland - ways of struggling for independence [43]

rebellions of 750 years of British occupation.

You were talking about the 1918 rebellion, were you not?

And what exactly is British? It would include the Irish, Scots, English and Welsh. Because Britain includes the Greater and Lesser Britain as well all the other Islands that make up the British Isles.

Britain is a geographic term, it would be more accurate to refer to the English and the Scottish, but now we get into tribes rather the them Brits and us. But it looks like the Brits (Dal Riata) invaded Ireland 1300 years ago, according to this map

Tribes

I suggest you stick to the more recent past,

News / Britain - problem for Poland and Poles? [103]

No. They despise you as you are Slavic.

The British don't even know what Slavs are. I cannot remember anyone even uttering the word.

Tesco expects the total net proceeds from the transaction will amount to ca. PLN 0.82 billion in cash, according to the statement. Tesco will allocate the proceeds to general corporate purposes.
The transaction, encompassing 301 Tesco stores in Poland, distribution centers and headquarters.

Tesco has seen "significant progress in our business in Central Europe, but continue to see market challenges in Poland," CEO Dave Lewis

Compared to the selling price Tesco obtained for its Thailand stores, it doesn't look like it was profitable in Poland.
