News / Poles drinking more than ever, as incomes rise. [19]

Scotland has an average of 11.8 litres per capita for every person aged over 16. This is considerably higher than England and Wales, which had an average consumption figure of 9.9 litres per capita.

History / The Two Saddest Nations on Earth... Poles and Jews [243]

Shame on the Pope, and the Papists who believe in this wicked and perverse religion.
If you do not repent and leave this false Church, you will all end up in Hell. Mind my words.

From this blog..

No I've checked the blog from these pics were taken ;)

UK, Ireland / Warning to British people visiting Poland!! Don't get drunk and smash the place up! [447]

the majority.

The majority of people who were forcibly evicted, were done so by agents of the Marquess of Stafford. Notoriously in Strathnavar and the strath of Kildonan. These agents were usually employed from outside the Highlands and yes, they were Scottish.

With the enforced destruction of clan structure a few chiefs ( to their shame ) evicted their clansmen, most notably the MacDonald in Skye and MacDonnel of Glengarry.

Scots who perpetuated

Not wishing to be a garmmar nazi but.......these crimes were perpetrated, it is the Westminister Government which perpetuated the clearance ( battle of the braes, Lord Brocket, men of knoydart etc ).

Interesting that the population of the Highlands is only now reaching the levels it was pre-clearances.

History / 'Battle of Britain' won thanks to Polish aces !! [158]

was that Spanish civil War

Yep, Frank Glasgow Tinker
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Glasgow_Tinker

I suppose I have banged on enough about how if the Spanish Republicans had got more support then Poland would never have been invaded in 1939.

Back to the thread - why is there such a focus on 303 squadron ?
304 is mentioned above but there were a few other Polish squadrons and they dont seem to get as much recognition.

Study / "MAGISTER" OR "MASTERS DEGREE" - ARE THEY THE SAME? [75]

post-grad MA as well as an UG MA

Did the under grad contribute towards the post grad ?

I would detail it on my CV but to list all professional qualifications would run to a fair amount of letters after your name.

Study / "MAGISTER" OR "MASTERS DEGREE" - ARE THEY THE SAME? [75]

Thanks delph -
I have become a bit scunnered with further education.
Education is such big business in Scotland, a lot of the courses ( products ) being churned out with little support or direction from the Uni.

S'ppose its the same throughout Eu now.

Study / "MAGISTER" OR "MASTERS DEGREE" - ARE THEY THE SAME? [75]

I have lessons on this and I don't go too deep

If you could explain briefly and simply please.....

A Scottish basic Ba is 360 CAT points, Ba ( Hons ) 480 etc etc how does this transfer to Pl ?
Are they part of ETCS ? Whats the relation between CAT points and ETCS ?

I realise that the answers are on the internety somewhere but its confusing !

History / Question on Poland's szlachta clan admission [26]

The clan structure in Scotland had regional variations - some clans in the west highlands claimed direct descendancy from Norse or Celtic kings, others, mainly lowland clans were formed by warlords.

Clan members paid rent to the chief ( landowner )and in return for the benefits and security of being in the clan, they were loyal to the cause of the clan when the Crann Tara was sent round.

Some smaller clans ( septs ) were had allegiances with larger clans for political reasons.

The clan tartans and badges were mostly a 19th century invention.

Having a Scottish surname gives a sense of belonging and kinship.

Dont know how this compares to Polish clan system.

News / Green electricity in Poland [41]

This can only be good news:

Its a bit lacking in ambition - By 2020, Poland is expected to have a total installed capacity of up to 12,500 MW,

In ten years Poland hopes to get up to 12,500 M(Million)Watts.
Today Scotland produces 1.5 G(BILLION)W of wind power.

Germany produces 25 GW of wind power.

I am not a big fan of wind power onshore, it completely spoils the countryside and is hazardous to wildlife. Not to mention the powerlines needed to transport the electric generated. Much better to have tidal power where possible.

Travel / Polish Marine Traffic [2]

Here is a site that is useful to anyone with an interest in whats coming in and out of Poland by sea.

Use the guide on the left of the screen to see if the ship is a cargo vessel, passenger carrier, tanker etc - then click on the icon to tell you where its destination is, its cargo, speed, direction and ETA.

All data is live.
