Life / Things that annoy you in Poland. [114]

Polish ppl love to talk in superlatives, 'the best', 'the longest', 'the most ......' etc without showing any evidence of any of this

I think that's a universal trait. I've seen it from a lot of people (from around the world.)

[Moved from]: Weights and Measures in Poland; kopiasta / czubata lyzeczka

What exactly are kopiasta lyzeczka and czubata lyzeczka compared to tablespoons and teaspoons?

Can't buy some badly-needed **** here (like a desk fan, for instance. Neither Tesco nor LeClerc seems to stock them. Neither does RTV.)

Oh, and the beer sucks.

History / GdaƄsk, Danzig: Was prince Mieszko the first to land there? [32]

It was a Slavic settlement at first. It was a German city for about 700 years. The Germans were really the ones who developed it and grew it in size and importance (same with Szczecin.)

Shhhhh… you hear that? *tap*tap*tap* That's the millions of Poles who will reply angrily, with angst-ridden messages and torrents bitter hate!

Food / What's your favorite Polish coffee? [73]

It's 90% instant.
Of all the stuff I love about Poland, I think its coffee selection in stores sucks.
It's more of a tea culture.

Cool beans.

UK, Ireland / Advantages of living in Poland as opposed to the UK. [126]

I can`t agree. Strong beer is better in Poland. Sorry.

We're going to have to agree to disagree. I am pretty selective in my beer-tastes, but Anglo-Irish beer is some of the finest brews, with lots of variety.

polishmeknob.blogspot.com/2009/06/beerfest-be-not-held.html <- My evaluation of Polish beer.

Also, Poland has hotter women (this goes without saying.) I mean, it's a given.

Love / Sexual appetites of Polki (in the 21st century) [31]

do they want to enclose you into the dark hole never to get out on the surface?

Is this from Maynard James Keenan or something? ("You ever have somebody who loved you so much she tried to kill you? Dragged you down into a hole and you had to kill her to get away? …Yeah, me neither.")

UK, Ireland / Best way to get boxes from UK to Poland? [25]

Ship them via regular mail. Also, if there is a bus driver going from UK to Krakow, you can give them to him and pay a courier's fee. That usually works.

"Working and living in a foreign country can be quite a challenge. Not the least by the conformity you must undergo, and obstacles with language and culture, plus differences in work place laws (learning about Polish/EU labor laws has really been eye-opening for me.) One of the largest gaps I find hardest to bridge is that of humor".

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1410]

but my grandmother has jet black hair and hazel eyes and is 100% polish.

She is a freak of genetics. There must be some non-Pole in her if she did not subscribe to the blue-blonde girl.
