History / What should Russia and Poland do to become if not friends, then at least not enemies? [945]

- It is obvious that the "Polish problem" must be solved

Yes, people are saying that if the Russians succeed, they will go for the Balrics next.
I don't think so, they will go to Poland next, because in their eyes they are troublemakers like Ukraiinians. If they get Poland, the Baltics will be easy.

Ukraine has to win.

USA, Canada / What kind of American food do Poles like most? [119]

an alien concept and because in Polish, the word pies suggests something else, not usually considered edible unless you're Korean.

News / Mr President Joe Biden comes to Poland again [177]

in such a noble thread about another great US leader as Mr President Joe Biden.

He is no.such thing. But he is President of the USA.

People shouldn't be taken in by his quiet and thoughtful manner

Agreed.

His visit to Ukraine was simply brilliant

Totally agreed!
It sends a very strong message to Moscow.
Butt out or you will be embarrassingly kicked out.
Russia's choice.

UK, Ireland / Why Poles will never belong in England [283]

Polish people belong in England because Polish people have helped make England rich.

I agree!

It's not enough.

Cynic....

The disintegration of Russia is forecast

Russia is finished.....it.is over....Putin did this, but 70% of Russians support him?
I am.sorry to say this, but stupid Russians will pay a huge price for this insane invasion.
Furhermore, the West will not allow Russia to win.
Even if it leads to war with Russia.

Life / What should I get for a gift for somebody who's never visited Poland? [59]

Is ir possible you mean Ptasie Mleczko?

You may be right, they did have a milk theme about them....But not real milk....urgh!!!!

I like Krówki. The trick is to find the ones with hardness/ softness you like

I did too, but as I said, some of the younger Poles over here hated them
I don't know why.

I can't remember the brand or what they are called, maybe Edelmans?
But they are a soft centred gooey sweet with a very thin layer of "chocolate like substance" surrounding the little bars.
Poles used to bring them back from Poland and the only people that loved them were the Indians.
I thought they were absolutely disgusting!
By contrast, when I was a kid, dad used to often visit a Polish deli and, amongst other things, brought home Kruwki.Little hard fudge sweets with a red cow on the packet.

We loved them as kids.
But younger Poles have since told us they hated them.

All my vacations are written off as business trips to buy real-estate wherever.

My leer jet and yacht are both huge write offs as well

Do you really not see why you are such a laughing stock on this forum?

PF's very own village idiot with visions of grandeur!

History / Poland and Britain started WW2 [356]

Stalin is a more aggressive dictator than Hitler.

In some ways he certainly was.
But that doesn't excuse Hitler for his evil crimes.

Life / Understanding Poland's Birthday Tradition [66]

My wife`s grandma was 101 when she died. When 99, people wished her 200 years not to offend her with 100 years

I get that.

I recall hearing "Sto lat!" in Poland following a loud sneeze as well.

I have never heard that before.

Yes, we say it to the sneezer.

New to me.

, because America - with all its military, political and economic power - is guarding the security of this region

It is time that Europe builds its defenses up so that it can survive without relying on America!
Relying on America is lazy thinking!
We should only ask for American help as a last resort.
What is wrong with you?
You depend on America to defend you?
The average Yank will tell you where to go in no uncertain terms......
