Hołownia - a rising star in Polish politics?

... or a shooting star?

Recent polls suggest that Szymon Hołownia, one of the candidates in latest presidential elections, not connected with any already existing party, gains top positions in trust rankings - with over 50% Poles trusting him. In comparison, President Duda scores around 50%, too.

Hołownia is a journalist who became a TV celebrity. Polls suggest his Polska 2050 which now is a movement but soon is going to turn into a political party might attract about 20% support.

His advantages are:
- good contact with people
- moderate views
- lack of aggression
- Christian background
- intelligence

What do you think about the chances of his party to play a major role one day? It is a long time to the next elections and people tend to forget easily about rising stars.

I have read opinions that Hołownia and his party is nothing more than another centre party, PO, now in opposition.

Of course they are private opinions which might be true but they also can be false. We don`t know it until Hołownia`s men become a part of the government and we see the result of their rule.

However, even if Hołownia rules similarly to old PO, then by comparing it to today`s PIS` rule which is a failure on most fronts, we will be able to say he is an excellent politician. Simple.

Just listen to him. He says stuff that is contradictory trying to please everyone....
lately his applies to the people to defend against PIS almost call for a revolution cause a fatherland in danger - form a spa with his ass in jacuzzi and a glass of a sparkling wine in his hand.

Warsaw's mayor some time back - go and fight totalitarian PIS they are about to introduce dictator, the country in danger and then he up into a plane for some holiday on some sunny beach. lol!

It's a long, long time until the next election. Hołownia needs to desperately build up strong local structures, as all of these one-man parties have suffered badly through excessive centralisation and weak local presence.

The problem is that he needs to find a way through in Eastern Poland. It's not enough to be supported in Western Poland - he needs to go straight to the heart of the PiS electorate in Tarnów/etc and start presenting himself as a viable alternative. As it stands, he's trying to build a movement from Warsaw, which will never work in the long run.

Funny but I never read or heard about those occurences you are mentioning now. Are you sure you are talking about Poland?

Hołownia has a legal problem. So far, he has been acting under the name Poland 2050 which is an association. He is trying to register it as a party but certain smart alec already did it a few months ago. Their dispute will have to be settled by the court. Currently Hołownia is thinking of registering the party as Szymon Hołownia`s Poland 2050.

Dirk, in another place you mentioned making fun of the oppositions record low approval ratings.. It is obvious you forgot about Hołownia party which is the same opposition to PiS as PO.

Do you know their latest result? 27%. The second after PiS. What say you?

In another thread I mentioned that Tusk`s party was polled as the second most popular party today. Hołownia`s party is third. It seems Tusk has outshined Hołownia for a while.

A nice metaphor about PiS by Hołownia:

Szymon Hołownia seems reluctant to ally with Tusk`s KO/PO before the coming elections. He prefers a more independent approach which is no surprise coz this year`s will be his new party`s first elections ever.

Szymon Hołownia was elected its chairman during the first national convention of the Poland 2050 party in Łódź. During his speech, he responded to the appeal of the head of the PO, Donald Tusk, regarding a joint opposition list in the parliamentary elections. He stated that "all options" should now be on the table, and "the decision should be made after carefully counting all the options."
