Real Estate / Renting in Poland - tenants' rights? [51]

what can i do ?

30 years ago you could threaten him with sending a gang of Russian tough guys to his place. Today it doesn` work anymore. hahaha
So, you can go to court but that will cost you time and probably some money too if you decide to hire a lawyer. However, if he loses the case, the lawyer costs will be refunded to you.

he also wrote in my contract that everything was fine so i left the apartment and gave him the keys that day.

The court will certainly take this entry into a serious consideration.

Genealogy / The last name is Krzywoszyja. Help? Am I Polish? [30]

Yes, your landlords gave you that surname behind your back, while you were toiling in the fields like slaves, doing mandatory pańszczyzna service. Fortunately, we got rid of those leeches who sucked your precious blood - there are no more wicked landlords in Poland and all people are equal. God bless democratic Poland.

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

they're the type most commonly euthanised unfortunately.

Black seemed to me the most exciting colour when I got my first cat in early 1990s - a female cat who later gave birth to another black one which I kept. They lived for 18 years.

Today I have changed my preferences - I consider ginger ones the most attractive.

Life / What do Poles really think about cats? [470]

Jon, and all cat lovers. As I told you, I was planning to see the black cat which one of my students wanted to give away. I paid them a visit and took the cat - it is 2 months old, all black. My student called him Diego - tomorrow I must ask her if she was thinking about Diego Zorro. I quite like that name, though first I intended to call him Koks..

Our two old cats are stupified, they are shunning a closer contact with the novice, I feared some violence but for the time being it didn`t occur.

As usual, I made a surprise to my family - all our cats have been one.

Life / The climate for gardening in Poland [340]

Effortless. I replanted one rootstock in several places all over the garden and they grow fine.

Let`s not forget decorative sunflowers

who later "sacrificed" her child to money (avoid misery, poverty etc argument) by having an abortion.

Why do you mention money at all? How about a lack of a father? A male happily produces offspring but when it comes to taking care and rearing them, he is not longer so heroic.

Not a wedding. And it is a family event coz all family members come to celebrate it. And it is nationwide. And in May.

No, it is not underfloor heating coz the worker is installing pipes in the overhead cupboard. Besides, such heating has electric cables, not pipes. Sth else.

Genealogy / Last name - Murzyn [33]

Amazing you have dug up a thread that talks about white Polish people with the surname Murzyn as J357 says Moor.

Which is amazing exactly????
That:

I dug sth up
it was a thread
it talked
it was about whites
it was about Poles
it was about people
it was about people called Murzyn
jon said sth
he said Moor.

yes, guys, stick to the topic, please and comment on my cat`s name - Murzyn. Was it inappropriate in 1970s?

Now I am arranging a new cat for us - a student of mine has 3 to offer - one is black and I am going to see it tomorrow.

Yes, we climbed Tarnica on a really hot day ---- I was exhausted and sweated like a monkey. The last few hundred metres are a steep slope with steps carved in the trail, they made climbing even harder.

Yes, that is Winnie Hut shelter in winter.

Yes, the stag lived there for a few years and sometimes made an appearace to tourists We were lucky.

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1450]

That would be the 4th of July

No, I meant your post from 12th July.

Remember, when grilling, if you burn meat it brings out cancer causing carcinogens.

Yes, of course. But I also consume a lot of carcinogens killers at the same time so there is balance in nature.

Eating to many like you did can cause inflammation (arthritis flare up)

You mean joints are affected? Fortunately, I have a remedy for ot, too - my amazing amber spirit - all aches in joins or bones vanish after 2 days - I recommend it sincerely to you.

By pure accident. They were chasing Hannibal. Not Lecter, of course.

About to press the ignition switch!!

No, don`t touch the red button! And if you do and then you see the light at the end of the tunnel, don`t walk to it!

Family of the bride and groom......

Yes, exactly. So, just like a wedding, this event is a strictly family one. Those goralenvolk are sb`s family!!

Well there's not that much that flows through pipes in flats. It's not water or gas, and maf ruled out air conditioning.

Please, skip conventional thinking in Western terms! This is Poland! Anything can happen here. hahaha

Plus, those pipes were wound like cable so not made of metal?

Of course not made of metal - they are white - metal pipes are seldom white.

I'm sure it's going to be really simple but I can't get it.

Slowly, slowly, you`re getting warmer, warmer.

Hey, what a hint! Did you notice it?

Oops, two minutes to midnight!! We must be quick! Iron Maiden is chasing us!

I'm going to turn on the gas now!

No, wait!!! We can still talk!!!

The highlanders, younger people/kids and people who look like they might well be attending a wedding or similar.

And, who mostly attends weddings?

Heat? Pipework? Ducting?

Yes, pipes. Those mysterious cables are pipes. Hurray, pipes!

Those workmen are up high though, so not central or under floor heating.

Try to liberate yourself from conventional thinking - remember, this is Poland, the country of Mrożek! High or low, it doesn`t matter really.

But still, it is not heating.

Aaaagh!!!! You are not sorry! You are enjoying the torture!!

No! When I see how people suffer, I melt like wax! I feel terrible now!
I would tell you but it is too easy.

They're not about to dance around a maypole then.........

Nope, we already said they are too fat for that.

I thought they were significant as at the start of the riddle you asked who they were.

Yes, they are a little significant, a small curiosity, but only in the context of the whole event which is much more important than those gorale. Please, one more effort. Hint - you can see 3 seperate groups of people - who/what are they in each group?

I need to go stick my head in the gas oven......

Hmm, that might give you a hint. Think of the oven, think of the oven. What does it share with those would-be cables???

Is that first picture on Tarnica?

As far as I remember, that is the trail that goes along the mountain top called Połonina Wetlińska - it leads from the shelter called WInnie the Pooh`s House. The walk is a pleasant one, without steep slopes except the last metres where you need to climb giant stone steps to reach the peak Osadzki Wierch.

Tarnica is a real torture, though.

I am stumped on this one

Yes, I can see it and I am so awfully sorry to torture you with it but as I said, it is not a big deal for native Poles so I am still waiting for their response.

Is it something of importance only to Podhale highlanders or to all Poles?

TO ALL POLES! :):):) Look again - there are only 3 goralenvolk there - the rest are ordinary people in formal clothes. It means those gorals are accidental guys. Just a pure coincidence.

but that doesn't explain the the cables that aren't actually cables.

Yes, cables which aren`t cables. The size limits for photos here makes it impossible to get a better quality view of those cables. So, we must engage our Sherlock Holmes` deduction skills. Now think hard - if they aren`t cables - what else can they be???? We know they are white and long and made of.............. and are used to .............. to the house.:):)

over the vineyard part today, how the ones who refused to give up the harvest from the vineyard

That was only an introduction to a much more meaningful revelation, namely about a stone which, first rejected by builders, became a crucial cornerstone. That was Jesus - initially rejected by people, gave foundation for a world-shattering phenomenon - Christianity.

Yes, reading ABARTH, a kind of racing Fiat car.

Zielone Świątki?

Nope.

The only other things I can think of in May are

It`s without a fixed day, always in May.
You strive for 3 people and you can be excused but I am surprised that native Poles still haven`t offered an answer. It is so obvious.

Ok, a hint - I haven`t shown the main element of this holiday, coz it would be too easy. Here you see only the backstage, sort of.
