Genealogy / THE MEANING AND RESEARCH OF MY POLISH LAST NAME, SURNAME? [4500]

I am from the USA and have a question. I was told that those that served with Sobeski (spell) were allowed to put a ski on the end of their name. Is this so.

Not only with Sobieski but higher royalty and richer people had a "ski"

Poleciała do wodeczki,

Life / Doughnut [Pączki] Day... in Poland [70]

Here in Wisconsin the churches organize "ponchka dances". They had one this Saturday. There was a polka band playing and at 8:00pm they start serving pączki. Everything would be cool, exept those are the worst tasting pączki you could ever eat! TRhey buy them from a store and they don't know how to make them. They are undercooked with raw batter still inside then they stuff them with the cheapest, bitterest raspberyy or prune filling you could ever imagine. My daughter took one look and turned away. My 4 year old son took a bite then stuck his finger in the hole and the red raspberry juices started floated out and he tells me his finger is bleeding. He's such a little joker.

He gets that from me :)

Love / Polish Women Versus Your Local Women ? [289]

Good answer Roko.
It is considered morally wrong to have sex before marriage in Poland because of the catholic upbringing, although it's views on that are slowly changing.

Depends how long she has been in the USA. They get smarter every year and don't take any crap from nobody. They get bored of the Polish guys and try to go after Americans or God forbid Muslims, but after a while they realize they are just too different then they are in their upbringing and understanding that they settle back with a Polish guy.

When they first come to another country, you can do anything with them because they are helpless, don't know anything and rely on you.

So you see, it all depends.
They will go after your money, but that's in every nation.

Genealogy / Polish looks? [1410]

When you go to Chicago, you can almost always spot a Polish person, by the way they dress, look and walk. The men have high foreheads, wear leather jackets and when they walk they move their hands really fast like they're nervous, and they wobble from side to side with a cigarette in the lips.

The women have short, purple hair, some wear too much make-up and usually wear high-heals and long coats and some even wear a czapeczka on their head.

Prove it! Lets's see! :)

I have noticed that many polish males around the mid 20's onwards seemingly lose their hair on their heads and dont have any at all???

They need room for a growing forehead.
