News / Throwing away the constitution in Poland? [626]

Of course it's outdated.

Why then are there different version?

What a stupid thing to say.

Maybe you'd like to show me where it says that phrase in the Bible?
Maybe you could also send a link with proof to your accusations?

Y'know, it's only my fifth time asking.
If you don't then I'll take it as truth that you're lying.
So maybe then a Mod could remove your post since it will have then been proved to be nonsense.

There is much to indicate that the TK is merely a branch of the foreign lobbyists party, PO.

You have replied to Mafketis, but you have not replied to me with proof of your accusations.
Does this mean your accusations were made up?

So you need to either prove your accusations of you need a Mod to delete comment #280

As a born and breed American (who choose to identify with Poles) he learned that phrase during his studies, a concept which is entirely alien to you.

That remark is very much on topic. Well done. But yea, it's quite obvious that you know so, so much about how well I did in both universities I attended. Dur.

Now please go back to never writing to me again like you have promised to do.

That is, are you supporting what PiS is doing because they're PiS or because of legitimate rule of law considerations?

Isn't that the strangest thing?
I have never understood people who are blindly loyal to one party. Surely anyone with an ounce of sense would see that what PiS are doing is laying the foundations for something sinister.

If PO were doing it, the plastic patriots here would be up in arms but they are blind to see the wrongs of their party. That's really, really messed up. Surely as a citizen of a country you want what's best for your country and not what's best for a damned political party.

These plastic patriots don't seem to realise that the parties are there to serve us, the voters and not us to serve their whims.

Even the widow's pence

Did you learn English from a 1920s phrase book? What a weird thing to say in this day and age.
Sure mate, give us some proof.

Edited - no personal remarks please

You those immigrants that hate migrants to their own country even though they've left that country?
Do they have the word 'irony' in their limited lexicon?

"I'm a nationalist immigrant, a patriotic immigrant." said Lukasz, a plumber, engaged to Londoner, 19-year-old hairdresser Chantelle.
"I came to London because the the good money I can make, and the football it better here too. Y'know" he sighs "I just don't get how migrants to Poland can be successful there? I couldn't, I had to leave, but these guys, they go there and they take jobs that should be mine, and our women."

Somewhere in Canada Alanis Morissette begins writing a sequel album to Jagged Little Pill.

The frustrated albeit impotent Platformers can rant, rave and fume to their heart's content whilst PiS just thumb their nose at them and laugh out loud!!!

If you know anything about the political landscape here you'd know that PiS are pretty much Pi$sing their pants already.
They're be a climb down soon coz they know they're losing the floating voters they tricked into voting for them.
They've pretty mcuh already ruing any chance of being re-elected already, after a few weeks in power.

give it a year, maybe 18months, some typical PiS scandal will hit, a snap election will be called and PiS will return to the shadows where they love to lurk and carry out their corrupt ways.

News / Polish final report on Smoleńsk aircrash [859]

Name three specific laws that were broken and say who broke them

I would also like Ironside to give the laws he's talking about

It's easy to retreat into the warm security of victimhood where only other actors need be held accountable.

Hard not to agree with everything said here.

News / The Witcher 3 game - Poland's great success [37]

Fallout 4 and MGS5

Yea, Fallout has been really disappointing. MGS is great though, probably my favourite MG.
Witcher beats both though, no question.

Feedback / Is it Polish forum or foreign forum? [159]

Polish are not uniform in mind and attitude

yet you say:

Western encroachmentisnot welcome

thus showing the forum that you're a grade A hypocrite. If Poles are

are not uniform in mind and attitude

then your opinion on

Western encroachment

is

not uniform

So, you see, your opinionisflawed, you think you speak for Poles, but at the same time you say people

are not uniform in mind and attitude

. So, you need to do something, either a) make up your mind which one it is, or b) realise that you're being a hypocrite and stop being one.

/thread

you were also being hypocritical yesterday:
When Maftekis caught you out.

An American integrating in Poland?

Go put some shrimp on the barbie mate ;)

Ah sure look, you can go skiing pretty close to Krakow and you'll have an excuse to drink hot wine.......avoid hot beer though, that sh!t is sick :D

You'll have a lovely Xmas market there too.
I'm sure you'll love it....I've not met a foreigner yet that hasn't loved Krakow.

Work / A predictable "Is my salary high enough post" - Krakow 13,500PLN GROSS Month [30]

I won't need a mortgage

Fair enough so, well done :)

I thought the average salary in Poland is 3.5k per month

COuld be, but the minimun is around 2000zl.
Depend on the area, where I live the average is more like 4500.

Numbeo is a pretty good website for comparing different cities:
numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Poland&city=Krakow+(Cracow)

From my own experience, I came here 6 years ago and lived on around 2500zl a month, I didn't save feck all, but I was fine. That lasted about 2 years but since then it's the gravy :)

Hope you enjoy it........and don't forget; Winter is Coming :D

Work / A predictable "Is my salary high enough post" - Krakow 13,500PLN GROSS Month [30]

9.500 per month

Yea, you'll be good on that.
Consider that the minimum wage in Poland is around 2000zl per month.

Cars are pretty cheap in Poland and insurance is very cheap when you compare it to the UK.

You might find it hard to get a mortgage though, usually you'd need 3 years of clean credit history.....unless though you get your mortgage from home. With, though awkward as a pig reversing is doable.

G'luck

Krakow is a great place.......except for the tourists and the insufferable smog that is. But, sure other than that it's cool. G'luck.

Language / Polish names without a nickname (or less frequently shortened) [61]

If I choose a name that I like for my child, I'd like that name to be used as I chose it.

That's stupid, if you don't like nicknames why didn't you use you're real name on this forum?

I've had a nickname since I was about 7 and only my parents call me by my 'real' name.
People will shorten names anyway, no matter what country you're in and then nicknames are attained thru deeds achieved or failed.
Nicknames are great, formal names are boring.

Work / English teachers in Poland - why are they so unhappy? [89]

the main question I keep asking myself is why are they all so unhappy?

I wouldn't share the same experience.
Most teachers I've met are pretty happy with what they have here.
Some stay at it as a career, others use it as a stepping stone into other careers.

The money situation certainly doesn't help. It's terrible, but if you came here straight after college at 22/23 as a single person then you'd be fine on that money. It becomes a problem as you get older, find a partner, have kids etc. But there are ways around that. The longer you're here the more contacts you have and the better you are at running your own business.

Things like going to other countries to work as a teacher during the summer holidays can be a goldmine for people

Sadly, of the dozens of teachers from Ireland I met in my years in Poland, every single one was an alcoholic

Nice bit of racial stereotyping there Dom.

I remember the old friendly nice Dom, now he's just old.

News / Poland's PiS party members and crime [346]

So now - we have Duda, Gosiewska and Hofman - all three were very close to the twins, and all three have been involved in fraudulent expense claims.

Awful isn't it, they just use public finds like their own.
Will they be brought to justice?
No, why?
People shrug their shoulders and say 'that's Poland.'

Life / Why do Poles talk so badly about Poland? [25]

why do Poles talk so negatively about Poland to foreigners that are planning to move here to study or work?

It's like this, people leave Poland for a multitude of reasons......mostly money however, so y'know of course they're going to have a negative attitude towards a country they feel they were 'forced' to leave.

Poland's fine, it has good points it had bad points. Some things will drive you bonkers here while other things you'll marvel at.

And y'know life's all about having different experiences so just chalk shi!t down to that while you're here...............and for the love of Jaysus, don't eat flaki.

News / Poland's PiS = suspicion & fear? [70]

how many years do you need to simplify the tax system in the country

Tax system is pretty straightforward here.
However, the archaic version of Polish that everything is written is is crazy. They should change it to normal everyday Polish, not that legal/business mumbo jumbo.

ZUS has got to go though, it's a feckin joke.

Language / What are the best Polish - English Dictionary and Learning Books? [24]

Something like Penguin readers series for Polish?

Naw, doesn't exist.

Maybe think about getting him a Polish version of a book he's already read. That way he'll get to practice his Polish better.

Or if he's a proper beginner, maybe some graphic novels/comics in Polish.

News / Poland's PiS party members and crime [346]

Public transport includes LOT

LOL
Your boyos who travelled to Spain with their WAGs weren't aware of that, oh, if only they knew eh? They wouldn't have been fired and disgraced.

The point is discredit the president and trash PiS no matter what.

The president has been proven to be corrupt, he should be trashed.
Sucks to be you Plastic Polly.
