News / How is the Ukraine War effecting Poland and the rest of the E.U. [35]

Parents, pensioners, the church, small business owners in small towns - core PiS voters

Whose money is it ? It is our money, but PiS thinks it is their money

How much is from the EU ? Some but not so much - most EU money is for specific infrastructure spending

Off-Topic / Stock Market and Trading Talk [1011]

JR - I am not trying to wind you up, I am just asking for stock picks.

Like most people with a day job I don't have time or energy for "day trading" - after tax and fees you can only make a few bucks here and there, certainly less efficient than just doing some overtime

So i am still waiting for your tips. Don't like a year? Ok lets go for 6 months - I am going for business software provider SAP, down 25 percent since the invasion but a good installed base and steady revenues. Price today 89 euro.

Let's have yours for 8th January 2023

OK JR I got a few more fro you

JMT - owner of Biedronka. 21.94 Euro today. Up nicely over the past few days. I reckon up to 27 eur by next summer as Poles look for cheap shopping

Bank Pekao - down 37 percent last 6 months but high interest rates and removal of some PIS idiots from management might help it recover
Dexcom - down 37 percent this year, a poor performer from my US portfolio, but make diabetes drugs and should be Ok if covid comes back

So you now owe 4 tips for July 23 - lets be having them

UK, Ireland / Boris Johnson - is the new British PM a popular figure in Poland? [150]

The covid party thing is not stupid. He was partying while he told the rest of the country to lock down - unlike Russia (and Poland) the British people expect fairness and won't tolerate hypocrisy.

It wasn't just one lapse which would have been forgiven, it was a series of boozy parties which made it clear they thought the ruoes didn't apply to them. After that he never got his authority back.

OK, so this weird JR. You ask for a stock tip and I give you one.

Now you say
- you never heard of it (its on the German exchange but surely everyone heard of it)
- you are a day trader
- you don't want a one year contest because you don't want your capital tied up (though you should have plenty to spare)

I respect you, so give us your tip for one years time. Can be NY, London, Warsaw, anywhere.

I have no idea what Siemens will do, probably Ok because it's a diversified business that makes something - I am just responding to your challenge. Now your turn.

Dude it's Siemens - SIE, one of the biggest industrial companies in the world and a Eurostoxx 50 company

There is not a question to answer - you just need to provide the name of the stock you are tipping.

OK

Siemens - its the worst performer in my portfolio this year, down 33 percent because of some energy and Russia things. But I am holding on to it for one year.

Price today 97 euro.

Give me your tip and we can compare in 2023 at end June.

News / Lukashenko - removes graveyard - AK resistance fighters [51]

Soviet graves in Poland are not desecrated - on All Saints every Soviet grave normally has a candle on it. I will say that compared to the British and Commonwealth graves, the way the Soviets care for their graves in Poland is disgraceful - they are weed strewn and crumbling, but never attacked by locals.

You assume that everyone shares your mean mindedness and misanthropy - but we are all normal people, not bitter twisted internet warriors

News / Up to 80 Polish fighters killed in Ukraine [63]

They are not attacking Russia, they are defending Ukraine

Night shift passing slowly tonight ? That Nicaraguan coffee is running low and there is no more chocolate because of the sanctions. At least none for you - the higher ups will still get their ration

Yes - I never touch crypto. Might make me a mug but I have enough risk in my life with eating, drinking and smoking too much

Life / Life in Poland - ECONOMY [59]

I would say keeping some of your savings in foreign currency is still a good idea - you never know when this government is going to do something really mental or when the general situation for emerging currencies will suddenly go bad. On top of that PiS don't seem to have any strategy apart from spending other people's money.

I have savings in Euro and Dollar as well as some in zloty. The zloty ones are now worth 14% less than they were, the euro ones are worth 6% less.

Law / How to register a foreign Non-EU car in Poland? [25]

If you want any kind of official document at the moment then prepare for a long wait and the need to phone them many times to hassle them.

they don't work much in summer anyway.

they have a huge backlog after COVID

they have an awful lot of Ukrainians to process at the moment.

If I were you I would just drive your car around for a few months and if you get stopped just tell the cops the office was closed because of COVID / or that you were in isolation etc. But then I'm not a very risk averse person.

Food / Where can I buy lamb in Poland? [89]

So there is a turkish shop and restaurant near the airport and they also have a mail ordee business where you can get lamb on the internet.

Unfortunately after racking my brains I cannot remember the name. I am saddled with a bad memory

No doubt he wioo tell us that it's now been invested in something even better - Byetcoin or some other local Russian turd on a stick

News / Strip clubs raided in Poland [20]

I was drugged by some of these girls, not in the strip club but in a normal bar next to it - they then tried to get me to go to the strip club. Fortunately they underestimated how much it takes to drug me :)

A few weeks after I was walking past the same bar and saw them talking to another punter so was able to warn him

UK, Ireland / Double Taxation coming back between Poland & UK? [6]

If you are tax resident in Poland - here more than 183 days - then you have to pay tax on that pension wherever you keep it

In reality the Polish tax authorities have little way of knowing about it and don't have the resources at the moment to pursue small cases like that

Law / Can I Legally Adopt My Girlfriend's Child? [3]

I think if you do that you will also be responsible for the kid until quite a late age (24 ?) and they might be responsible for you when you are old - really check out what you are signing up for and remember they are not cute kids for long

I urge you to spend a few hundred bucks for a proper lawyer

Five facts about Russia that everyone knows

1. Your army are primitive rapists
2. You are poor because your leaders are thieves
3. You are unhappy because you are not free
4. Your president is a murderer
5. Your food is awful

Bonus fact

Those oil and gas deposits don't belong to the plebs.

Real Estate / Dividing a property [4]

No. Whose name is on the title deed "ksiega wieczyste" ?

That is the legal basis for who owns the house

If you are married then even if your wife's name is in the ksiega then it is still your common property

If you are not married then the only way to secure yourself is to loan the money to your partner - that is much more complicated though, and if she is living there with kids almost impossible to enforce if something goes wrong

Put a ring on it and your life will be more simple (at least about this house !)
