btw the majority owner of the Orange brand is the state of France - so we are effectively sponsoring the French state - I'm pretty sure PiS wouldn't sell Telekomunikacja Polska to a foreign entity


I don't know why - probably because Orange France drains Orange Polska with fees for 'consultation', overpriced purchases from Orange France etc - you cannot help it without breaking European Treaties i think - the only thing that can be done is imposing a sales tax (on top of or instead of VAT tax - there is no VAT tax in the US as far as I know and individual states impose sale taxes)

for example Orange Polska pays 1,6 per cent of it's mobile services turnover (and 0,8 per cent of its landline services turnover) solely for using the Orange brand (like Orange brand means anything) - with the turnover of over 11 billion PLN you can safely bet that the fee exceeds 100 million PLN (more than Orange Polska paid as an income tax in 2019) :

if SKOK was the problem of PiS, PO would have long ago capitalized on it, since the issue happened when PO was in power - the biggest scam was in SKOK Wołomin which was established by ex-communist military intelligence functionaires

also SKOK's were not under the supervision of KNF before 2013 because they were not obligated to pay into the Bankowy Fundusz Gwarancyjny and people's savings in SKOK's were not protected by the BFG - I don't know much about it but it is entirely possible that including SKOK's in the BFG (and demanding them to pay into the Fund) meant the downfall of them - to those uninitiated PO/PSL ruled in 2013

I would hardly call it corruption, sorry - corruption would be if the state companies directly subsidies the ruling party - all these transfers were within law (within the legal threshold of 'sponsoring' political parties) - compare it to the 'słupy' affair of Palikot

smog is not caused by power generation simple as that - if it were, Bełchatów, Turoszów and Opole areas would be among those most affected and they are not - smog is caused by low level emissions, just plenty of them and this is caused by burning coal - it happened so that coal was the cheapest option to heat your house not so long ago (we heat our house with coal for the very reason - I don't live in a city so, yeah, don't jump on me for causing smog in Kraków or Warsaw)

maybe I am wrong but what I heard is that there is no definition on rule of law in the European treaties and if ECJ rules anything about it it would mean it is creating law not interpeting it or applying it (which means we are no longer in a democracy but in juristocracy) - not so long ago the current United States Supreme Court overturned the long established ruling of the Supreme Court on abortion (Roe vs Wade) argumenting that the previous ruling was an excess of power (since in the tripartition of powers courts are supposed to apply the law not to create it)
