Life / Polish and Czechs [191]

Study the history of anti-Semitism

Study the history of anti-Semitism is a sophisticated way to promote bigotry, hypocrisy and a victim complex used oft as an excuse to be a xenophobic, racist a-hole to all but your own tribe. In this way atheist people can base their religion sectioned prejudices on 'scientific' resentments.

Czech and Poles are different cultures. Due to same historical connections and some similarities people might think otherwise. In fact there is little nowadays that would connect both cultures. Poles and their culture are not interested for Czechs and vise versa

News / Americans incite hatred towards Russia in Polish media [75]

A lot of people does not mean by any bit a majority. Many people like Russia and a lot of them quietly support Putin.

What? Are you for real? People who like Russia are either soviets, morons or some trolls like some Russian/Australian.Susex gay.

History / What is Poles opinion on Intermarium (Międzymorze)? [188]

He was pushing for it and for other ideas as well.

Allegedly.
I want to say that is not a concept that can be traced back to some or other individual. Geopolitical reality formulated it before anyone named it.

Pilsudski

Has nothing to do with it. I wonder what the concept of Intermarium has to do with him because there is nothing bar that in politicks of the region those countries who don't want to be vassals to Germany or slaves to Russia must and should cooperate closely - that is a logical and an obvious path for them to take.

News / EU triggers Article 7, could strip Poland of voting rights [91]

The logical inference is that any judge who doesn't find him guilty is not worth his salt.

Well if someone killed someone in front of your eyes, would you assume that the guilty verdict would be only a formality and if he is not that there is something wrong with a judge? Why overcomplicating that issue? Just because you think that traitors and scum are fine in your eyes? Well, there is nothing I can say to you...

Beata Szydło

Why that assumption that I care much about Beata or any other politician or a party? I want to use this opportunity as a pivotal point to talk about constitution in Poland and all garbage spewed about it by so called opposition.

Frist, tinkering with the legal system in a country by its gov. is not a treason. So there is no comparison.
Secondly constitution in Poland is just an absolute rubbish and from the legal point of view absolutely worthless. Enough said, it should be done away with as fast as possible.

Thirdly all traitors and criminals and scum should be severely punished first and then we can talk about (subtle issues) fine points of overstepping authority.

News / EU triggers Article 7, could strip Poland of voting rights [91]

18 months later the EU has called their bluff and told them no access to the single market without accepting EU law. Now the Brits are begging to be allowed to stay.

I think you got it wrong.
Anyway business is business EU or not. If some countries in the EU would want to make a war against Poland using their economy that is their choice.

our approach is to start from the obvious guilt of certain individuals and proceed from there.

Your assumption is wrong. I have said that in some cases the guilt is obvious but I have never said that all the proper proceedings should be overlooked or bypassed. However in the circumstances where judiciary system like in Poland is corrupt, unaccountable and blatantly on the side defending status quo (i.e. post-communist cronies/mafia style) it would be hard to find an honest judge that would deliver justice to the said individual.

Okay how will the judicial "reform" actually address that?

It will make judges accountable to some degree. It is not as good as burning it all to the ground and build from scratch but it is good enough for a start.

That's PiS party line rhetoric with no real basis in reality.

quite the opposite. I can name at least a one judgment that has been passed in the current system that is so blatantly unjust, brazen, partisan and in your face that you couldn't make it up. What more the judge who passed such a mockery of a justice and a common sense is still well and IS a judge - the poof was in the pudding mafketis. Your off-cuff remark about party line doesn't really cut it and you know it. Enjoy the pudding.

The system starts from the impartiality of the judge

What if judges are blatantly partial, politicized and corrupted as is the case in Poland? In all they're running amok as they are practically untouchable in the current system.

The guilty of treason is a public figure and his guilt there for anyone to assess for themselves. As to his other transgressions of the criminal nature, those should be judged in a court of law.

It is more subtle than that

Nothing subtle about it. Lefties believe in democracy as long as it works in their favour. If it doesn't it is populism, fascism and issues too complex to be handled by the popular vote.

The only 'subtleties' in all this totalitarian lefties nonsense is the way they try to sell that BS to the people.

Opinion polls show a majority want to stay in the EU

I wouldn't put any credence to the polls in general and especially in Poland. If you think about TVN poll, that is clearly just a propaganda spin.

My take ( I clearly say it is a guess but an educated guess that includes intimate knowledge of the Polish people) is that about 70% want Poland to say in EU but not for any price. On the other hand 60 to 70% blame the EU for the all those happenings.

Unlike PL where Ziobro could prosecute Tusk and have him tried by PiS appointed judges

Well, as he is clearly guilty any independent judge worth his salt would found him guilty. The fight against that reform is aimed to keep corrupt, politicized judges in power to make sure that anyone suckling a post-commie corrupt system, no matter how guilty never would face prison or even a fine.

f PIS really cared about poor families,

If you (after 27 YEARS in the country and married to the Polish national) you would master the local language on a basic level instead of drinking, you would know that 500+ is not about helping poor families but to offer incentive to Polish people to procreate.

Genealogy / Americans of Polish descent. How many of us are on Polish forums? [216]

Come on, why would a leftie care what the Pope thinks or any other religious leader?

They don't! They frequently make lame attempts to tell Catholics how THEY would like THEM to vote or what choices to make in politicks. Using as their props ups words of religious figures, and if the pope as this case might be is very vague and ambiguous in the way he expresses himself they just jump on those phrases and opinions with renewed vigor.

As for Catholics and Poles not giving a damn about him,

Geez, the pope have no say in anything else but religious dogmas while speaking officially ex-cathedra. Interviews, speeches, his opinions so on can be very well skipped and are skipped by the most people. If kids want to see the pope they are there mostly to see a symbol a head of their religion, it would not matter if somebody else was in his stead.

There are only few issues in todays politics that can be and are influenced by religious beliefs - most of them are not.

His blessing didn't work either. 3 months later they closed down the business.

Seems they are loaded regardless so might be that closed business was good for the salvation of their souls.

nd that pretty much sums up your Catholicism

Quite the opposite, it sums up what you imagine you know about Catholicism, in fact you know preciously little.
Its only his opinion. What he really meant?- What it means - refugees? In legal, normal sense someone who run way from a disaster, a conflict to the closest country, in that sense no Syrian or Middle East denizen showing up on the Polis border is a refugee.

If on the other hand he meant (ass lefties would have) the current wave of illegal immigrants - fair enough - that would and doesn't make sense but if this is his opinion that mean it is his opinion.

The word 'catholic' is related to Greek 'kathe' (all)

No S....Sherlock! The Catholic Church means The Universal/Worldwide Church - a place for ALL!

Pope Francis IS respected by a lot of Poles.

Lol! Not Catholics and other Poles don not give a damn about him apart from those who are lefties anyways - they pay the lip service to him. Only because he is allegedly a leftie too.

But look on the refugees issue - even the Church here itself has been calling to accept them, yet they're completely ignored by the holier-than-thou types.

Even if we assume that you're telling the truth you missing a vital element in your reasoning here. The Church has no say in everyday life and in politic.

Life / Why do so many Polish strive to be accepted by the West? [78]

You have unhealthy hatred for Russia

I don't have hatred for Russia. I understand Russia much better than you. I understand their language. I understand their politick and I understand their history. As for Russians being Slavs it means less than nothing. It is not about individual Russian. That about their state and their policy - as they have no society, not in a western civilization sense, not in the eastern sense.

Do you know anything about North Korea

I know more than enough. If you cannot distinguish between propaganda and facts you are lost.
You what?
You embrace Russian and NK in their struggles against the west? lol! Grow up and we'll talk then. I heard about people like you but never have met one of your few silly boys - who think that they got the holly grail of wisdom. By the way a half of your mates are most likely on Russian pay.

nobility

Nobility in context of Poland would better translate as a citizen. Think - US citizen and you got a picture. Much would depends on personal circumstances of your family.

Some families lived very well during that time, which explains their anger and rage towards the post-1989 system

Do you really believe in what you saying or you're just being deliberately obtuse because you aim at derailing this thread?

one which is truly allies

should be a one which is truly alien to Poland.

China is more powerful than Russia

True, and both strive for domination although that is secondary to their hate and fear of the USA. China I can understand but Russia is historically out of touch with their ant-usa stance. Unless they are looking for power to confront china in accusing eastern Europe again, Obama's policies were giving them hope that USA's power is on a wane.

As for Russia being more spiritual than the west i have never noticed that on my visits.

what do you mean? they drink sprits in greater quantity. They are more spiritual no two ways about it.

Ask anyone who travelled to Asia and saw how happy people were there

Sure very happy. You should move there - The North Korea would do just fine. Happy happy people.

Russia is Russia with European like face courtesy of Peter the Great. No bridges here just pits.

Go West? How about go East? Why not?

You're mixing here few issues.
Firstly, Poland is a post-colonial country with all the problems and issues that a post-colonial syndrome pertain.
Secondly Poland is basically an integral part of the western European civilization/culture. Hence is naturally attracted to it and this 'striving' you talk about is a tad naïve longing of a cousin from some branch of a family that is down on luck to be recognized as a part of the family.

Although I must say that this attitude is less common nowadays as western Europe is becoming less and less European and which turns its back to the basic European values. (this include of course USA)

Well on the east you have Russia - which is a separate civilization on its own - a one which is truly allies to Poles regardless of the fact that on individual basis many Poles seems to be getting along with Russian just fine. On a social or state level however that is entirely different story.

Does it answer your question? Maybe we should go a one step further as there is an implied question in your thread - why not buddy with Russia instead.

Russia doesn't have buddies, it has business partners like Germany and China or pawns and lackeys. They do not understand term a junior partner or alliance. It is a one sided arrangement and unstable because depends on the whim of Russian czar.

Czar (could be called the first secretary or a president - makes little difference) in Russia is only limited by the power of bureaucracy.
Which is unlike in any other country. It has been the main power in Russian since Peter the Great (what great about him I don't know).

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

A one policeman had been killed and two wounded while they ambushed ATM robbers in the act. Two criminals has been apprehended and one killed by the police.

Its shows that criminals in Poland have no problem to obtain so called 'assault rifles'.

So it bust no guns no people killed by guns argument!

Life / Do you think that Polish people are rude? [951]

My how my post got butchered in that translation.

Geez man make up your mind. Do you complain, brag or just share a story. If you are up for a chat it is OK with me although it is a wrong forum for this kind of activity in my opinion.

So what exactly happened? Some people laughed at your brave attempt to butcher Polish language. Not very sophisticated people, simple people, maybe not a very bright or well mannered people. What it has to do with their ethnicity? Such people can be find anywhere. Was it a malicious laugh? Is that terribly important to you?

Did they hurt your feelings? Did you communicate to them your displeasure at they behavior? What do you expect from the strangers on the internet?

Given (according to your words) that you're about 60 years old I would think you could bring some perspective, a philosophical stoicism and a tad of wisdom to the table.

Fun fact - 7% of Americans believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows.

Aside from your digs at me that are quite unbecoming you. I enjoyed your story. Honest.
If you could deliver more of the same. (minus digs) I would like to read it.
Now that I know you want to share stories.

I wanted to learn my culture and to feel connected to a country I knew little of.

Really? A day trip to mix, learn culture and feel connected? Tall order, should've save yourself a bother. Well, you didn't care enough to put some work or time in there. You wanted to invest a one cent and withdraw 100$, try Vegas.

Laughing at how I tried to pronounce in Polish food I have eaten since a child

Maybe not nice. You're old enough to know better. I mean did you expect a medal for the effort? Either you care enough to not butcher it or you don't. They are living communities not some tourist-trap.

Older men on a sentimental trip can easily get burn if they expect too much.

News / Should Poland traitors face the death penalty? [105]

I'm not the one who calls to bring back methods from its darkest times. it's you- not me.

A fool then!

If we all ended up killing whomever we disliked or disagreed with, there'd be no one left, lads!@ Lyzko

Stop your whining, It is not about different opinion or political standing or religion WTF? Why is that that your kind (leftie yappers) always go from zero to 100 in a nanosecond, into overheating circuits in their tiny brains, all that ridiculous exaggerations and dramatics - chillax!

For traitors like that there need to be some kind of punishment that is clear. If you don't get what I'm saying that is your problem.
