News / President Duda rules out homo marriage in Poland as banned by the constitution [172]

Why?

Because marriage is much more than just a legal contract and for thousands of years has been between a man and a woman.
Not two men or two women.
Why should 2% of the population be allowed to ruin an institution that has served us well for so long?
A severe case of "The tail wagging the dog".
Marriage is primarily for having children.
Gays can't do that.
I am also against gay adoption, which is nothing short of child abuse.
What is wrong with a legally binding civil partnership?
In the UK some hetero couples are now opting for that instead of marriage, largely when they don't want to have kids.

What is the difference?

You are not seriously comparing sexuality to race or religion?
They are three completely different things.

Not in Poland.

I didn't know that.

And if it's all the same anyway why differentiate between civil union and marriage?

Because it makes a mockery of marriage.

But suddenly when it comes to gay people their number starts to be as issue

Being gay cannot be compared to a race or religion.

First LGBT visits. Next, civil partnerships. Then, homosexual marriages. Finally, LGBT is widely accepted in Poland

Why is there this huge obsession amongst liberals for giving gay couples ( I cant do that LGBT nonsense) the same rights as straight ones?
I thought marriage was mainly about having children.
Gay couples cant do that.
So what is the point?

Food / Which foods are generally disliked/unpopular in Poland? Which non-Polish foods are slowly gaining popularity? [180]

I will take a good kebab over tikka masala every time

Me too.

the gradation of kebab is UK the worst, Poland ok and Germany- the best by miles

Uk kebabs, you have to know where to go.
Central north London where many Greeks and Turks live you get the best kebabs.
German are very good too, so much so that there is now a German kebab chain in London.
As for Tikka Masala, that is Anglo Indian cuisine, you won't find it in India.
Proper Indian or Pakistani cuisine is excellent, along with Sri Lankan ( which is slightly different and even spicier than Indian).

Off-Topic / To ALL IMMIGRANTS ("expats") to Poland on this forum... [124]

A pack of lies

That is all you can expect from these extreme right wing nationalist russian loving Serbs.
They learnt from their Russian "brats", who would incidentaly drop them as soon as they stopped being "useful idiots",
How to use propaganda....

Brits don`t like their own cuisine and prefer to choose foreign ones.

This is true.
British food has a few gems and is pefectly edible, I think that Polish cuisine is on a par with British.
Maybe slightly better, but not much.
Look at North European cuisine.... Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, Norway, Sweden. Finland, Estonia,Latvia, Lithuania, Poland.....bland, bland, bland......
Go to Hungary, the former Yugoslavia, Greece, Spain and Italy and it is more exciting cuisine..

News / European funds - why Poland should refuse to receive them. [36]

Hmm, after deducting Polish contribution from gained funds, we are 110 billion in the black

That may be true, but Poland is getting very close to becoming a net contributor to The EU... and if they then push for even more central control and federalism, I don't think that will play out well with Polish people.

Other big dislikes are any cheese or any fish except for the very blandest varieties.

This is the main problem with Polish tastes.
They are like Britain in the 1950's..... not interested in trying anything new and quite happy to eat bland boiled potatoes as long as they have a bit of dill sprinkled on them..... time to hit the 21st century Poland.... at least we are educating the Poles in the UK, most of them have grown to love Indian cuisine ( Which has been adopted as part of British cuisine now).

Love / 20% of adult Poles are single and live with Mummy! [241]

My son rightly pointed out that I came of age in a slightly better economy than he

That was correct of him to do so, I took that into consideration too, me and my wifes 21 translated to 26/27 for their generation.
And it worked.
Any later would have been too late.

Love / 20% of adult Poles are single and live with Mummy! [241]

When my kids reached their late twenties I pointed out to them that I left home when I was 21 and their mum did too.
They got the message, within a year they were both gone and have since thanked me for it.

Law / The right to own guns: would you support such legislation in Poland? [2237]

I am starting to see now why Lenka thinks it is a bad idea for the Polish to own guns

It's not just the Poles. It's all Europeans.
We just do not have the American knowledge and love of guns that you Americans have.
We don't see the need for them.
But as I said in a different thread, life in America is not like life in Europe and we have a different mentality on this subject.

This subject will only continue to divide Europe and America forever.
Which is why I continue to have an open mind.
