Life / How Polish are you? [74]

It's rather 'How Catholic are you' than 'Polish'. I'm 100% Polish even though I don't give a damn what Papa Ratzi says about whatever he has to say about.

Edit. Anyway, I just have to produce my passport with a crowned bird at heaven's gate. It's as obvious as that (:

Life / How Polish are you? [74]

I doubt you could be polish vault dweller.. I don't think they would build any vaults in here..

Well, Glasgow in certain places looks like it had been through nuclear holocaust. You would be surprised how close to the city centre (:

There is a second Quiz

That's more like it. 100% of course.

Polonia / POLES vs BULGARIANS [160]

Recently a Bulgarian I met told me he feels safer in Glasgow(!) than in his homeland Bulgaria. I guess that sums up the discussion about who's EU and who's not yet there.

And before you call Poland 'asia', look at your own backyard, pal

Language / ch - antychryst - chłeb [13]

antychryst and anarchia struck me as odd because the ch sounds is pronounced like a "k" rather than a "wh" sound

???
Use your headphones to listen to that and try listen well... AnarKia or antyKryst would sound rather 'slangy' or 'dialect'-ish, at least to me.

UK, Ireland / Proof of Address (my Polish gf moving to the UK) [14]

I can tell you how it was with me: my landlord wrote a letter stating that I lived at that address, with a signature and contact number (and obviously you would act as her 'landlord'). And getting bill would be a good idea, but then again service provider(s) would probably... guess what... need a proof of address...

UK, Ireland / Man on UK - Krakow flight eats 10, 000 Euros [18]

It happened on a Ryanair flight. It's probably a part of their marketing strategy (which is known of being controversial).

Blimey he was bright? Are these the educated Poles they keep telling us about that are working in the UK?

What does it have to do with the whole thing anyway? Why are you using plural while it was only one man, and it was probably just a marketing action?

News / Who will be the next President of Poland? [51]

Most probably Komorowski IMO.
Unless Cimoszewicz decides to run as a candidate of left or perhaps independent with some not-so-quiet support from SLD and other leftist parties. He's the guy who has the biggest chances in current political climate. Olechowski is maybe 5-10% IMO.

UK, Ireland / Let's discuss Polish and British, only constructive (though we will digress) [60]

I'd be happy to discuss, but can't be bothered as in 3 posts mutual slagging off will develop. Some dailyfail bullshit will be copypasted; some outdated/irrelevant data will be presented; women on both sides will be called sluts; etc. So no, thanks. Starcraft is WAY better ;)

Love / Are Polish men romantic and caring or... "plain"? [85]

I'm a villager living in a big, polluted city. And I miss my village family house at the river with proper yard and even a well :) And though some of my neighbours are indeed

backward, and like something from a previous century

, the pros of living in the village outweigh the cons.

News / Poland should move its location to be more secure.. [21]

Instead of moving Poland, I'd rather replace our governing 'elites' with people with common sense. German-Polish relations are getting more and more normal, there is a hope for the same with Russia.

Loses the opportunity of getting quickly and quite cheaply good used cars

Ok, but I say 'NO' to making Poland the Schrottplatz of Europe.

Let's not kid ourselves. I'd rather Putin be replaced with someone a little more stable and reasonable.

We need to be more opportunist in contacts with Russia. They need us as a market for their oil and gas. In politics there's no place for sentiments.

Agree ,but how can we do that?

By moving our ar$es and voting.

News / Poland should move its location to be more secure.. [21]

Well, I meant that I've no objections to buy an used car (I own such vehicle myself) or any other machine but there's definitely too weak control of what is brought down from Germany. Many of our garages are corrupted and give good certificates to cars whose only destination should be a scrapyard.

And I agree that due to poor economic activity in Opolskie, many people with dual citizenship work in Germany thus virtually decreasing unemployment there.

News / POLISH GAS RESERVES [40]

Poles can't do it because we don't have the technology. Basically, shale gas is 1) located very deep and 2) deposited in between fractures in the rock.

So drilling for shale gas requires equipment and knowledge which Poland, I'm afraid, doesn't have.
