UK, Ireland / Britain... What the Poles did for us. [444]

The Poles have been in the UK only for four years and not four decades, so I doubt that they managed to make a great impact on the British society. On the other hand, some claim that there are 1,5 million of them currently on the island. Surely, disappearance of that many people wouldn't go unnoticed. :)

UK, Ireland / Hand washing at public toilets in the UK [75]

Magdalena, I observed something similar among British construction workers, with an exception that they didn't even bother to wet their fingertips under the water! A sink in a man's toilet on a construction site in Britain serves only as a decoration. The shocking thing for me is that it wasn't only the physical workers but the supervisors as well! And then you see them in the canteen putting bacon from their full English breakfast on their toasts with those dirty hands! Yummy! :)

People who wash there hands after taking a p1ss must have dirty genitals.

I don't wanna wash me hands mum, I barely touch me anus! ;)

How did you know they were British construction workers, which are a rare breed today and were more likely Polish hehe

Because there were my work colleagues? To make it even worse, they were from the southern part of the island. :)

And you can see many of these examples in Poland as well e.g. at the weekend a guy came to do the artificial insemination for the dairy cows on my father-in-laws farm, and was doing the deeds with a sandwich in his mouth, taking a munch from time to time. eekkk

Ahh haaah! You see, that happened at the weekend while those workers were doing it all the time! ;)

Sad but true the further south you go the dirtier it gets - you just wouldn't get that kind of thing in Manchester ;-)

I believe you Shelley. The shocking thing for me was that the supervisors were the same! I can understand the laborers not minding personal hygiene, but people of higher education and status? It made me wonder about the ol Queen you know. :)

News / Poland's fight against paedophilia [277]

it's prevention like Bzibzioh wrote. one pedophile can destroy several people's lifes. and you can't stop pedophile from being pedophile. after being inprisoned he will walk free and do what's in his nature again and again.

How exactly do you know that? Most pedophiles are great examples of shyness towards the opposite sex and complexes going horribly wrong. The whole idea of chemical castration is just pure populism on Tusk's side. It's definitely not a remedy to the problems of pedophilia.

How exactly do you know that?

From professor Lew-Starowicz. People either become pedophiles because they were in fact victims of a sexual assault in their childhood or as a result of their sick shyness, which stops them from having sexual relationships with adults. Very often the source of that situation lies in the pedophile's low self esteem and body complexes.

Pedophilia is pretty much a mental disease that should and most probably could be cured. But than again who cares about the reasons one starts being a pedophile. It's easier to castrate them I guess.

You still haven't answered my question though.

IMO females are about 170 - 175 cm

I don't think so. 170 cm is very tall for Polish women.

Maybe that's truth. I would say that an average women height in Poznan is that of JustysiaS.

one Professor Lew-Starowicz doesnt mean anything...

Prof Lew-Starowicz is probably the best known sexologist here in Poland. Quite a prominent person, and a great expert in this field. This is why I named only his name, which doesn't mean that he is the only person that claims what I stated in my previous post. If you really are interested in thus subject, check any site about pedophilia and you will know that I'm being right.

News / GERMANS WANT TO GERMANIZE KOPERNIK (COPERNICUS)! OUTRAGE! [1016]

From his works which made them so famous...it's his signature!

If you are thinking about ""De revolutionibus orbium coelestium" than I would like to check your sorce because to my knowladge the signature only includes his name and the agjective "Thorinensis".

Education and heritage aren't interchangeble with passports...Or else the family of Kopernikus really would had become full Poles once the town Torn changed hands.

But you are aware that Copernicus never studied on a German university?

PS: The whole argument is a bit strange, as we are arguing about the nationality of a person that lived in the XV century using cryteria of a nationality from XXI century. But what ever...

Yes, galaretka or gelatine. Its disgusting stuff, why do you poles eat so much of it.

I don't know, but there's just no family gathering without galat. Mmmm...

Actually I always wanted to introduce my British friends to that dish. I imagined that since Brits love vinegar so much that it would be a smashing hit, but I guess I was wrong. :)

News / GERMANS WANT TO GERMANIZE KOPERNIK (COPERNICUS)! OUTRAGE! [1016]

BBoy, could you please provide us with the link to the source of that quote of yours?

Bratwurst is using criteria from WWII not 21st century and even if we take WWII criteria ... he is not right

Well it's a pity that he is altering the facts. Like for example with the signature of Copernicus on the manuscript of "De revolutionibus".

First of all, the signature "Nicolai Copernick Canonici Varmiensis in Borussia Germaniae mathematici ..." doesn't mean that Copernicus considered himself German like BratwurstBoy wrote here:

The Copernicus manuscript book states : [...] Nicolaus Copernicus Canon [in] Warmia, in Prussia Germaniae mathematician...(Nicolai Copernick Canonici Varmiensis, in Borussia Germaniae mathematici)

For there isn't a debate anymore actually as Kopernikus himself described his nationality quite clearly! But these stubborn Poles...:)

It actually means as follows: "of Canon Nicolaus Copernick from Warmia in Prussia of Germany, of the mathematician ...". Hardly the same, innit?

And secondly, this signature was added by a German Jakob Christmann, 60 years after Copernicus death, in 1603.

Here is the quote and the source:

A De revolutionibus manuscript of Nicolaus Copernicus passed[1] via Rheticus to others and was marked on 16 December 1603 by Christmann with Nicolai Copernick Canonici Varmiensis in Borussia Germaniae mathematici ... ("of Canon Nicolaus Copernick from Warmia in Prussia of Germany, of the mathematician ...") [2]. Since 1953 it is located in Cracow in the Jagiellonian library (Signatur: Ms. BJ. 10 000), accessible online.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakob_Christmann

So much for BratwurtsBoy's iron proof. Bad, bad Bboy.

PS: Ahh those stubborn Poles, innit? ;)

Only 60 years later??? He should know about it, don't you think? It's nearly the same time frame!

The author of the words which just few pages ago claimed to be the words of Copernicus, namely:

Nicolai Copernick Canonici Varmiensis in Borussia Germaniae mathematici ... ("of Canon Nicolaus Copernick from Warmia in Prussia of Germany, of the mathematician ...")

not only didn't knew him personally, but he didn't even knew the guy to whom the manuscript was passed to. Further more, he even didn't knew the guy who got the manuscript from that guy who got the manuscript in the first place. Actually, he even didn't get the chance to meet the guy, who got the manuscript from a guy, who got the manuscript from a guy, who got te manuscript from Copernicus. BBoy, are you being serious here?

And are you going to appologize to the good people of this forum for your lie or are you going to change the subject as usual?

Language / IS "MURZYN" word RACIST? [686]

A word in itself, and here I mean any word, is not offensive but the intentions can be. The word "murzyn" for me is a neutral word, however it can be used as a derogatory word if the person who uses it will have the intentions to offend.

Let’s take the word Paki for example. For a person from the US it’s just a short form of the word Pakistani. Nothing insulting about that. The situation is totally different in the UK where the word Paki is commonly known as a very racist term. It’s all about intentions.

And “Murzynek Bambo” is definitely not racist.

atyjasz:

nope again. do you just call everybody a nigger then? i am sure that's not racist either as you have no intention of hurting them with that word, right?

Of course it's all about intentions. It's just that some words have been used so many times in offensive contexts that the offensive message became part of the meaning of the word, as it happened with the word nigger mentioned by you in your post.

What do you reckon is so offensive exactly about the word nigger? Do you think that it's the specific combination of vowels and consonants that make it so derogatory? Maybe there is a rule that says that every time a vowel "i" follows a consonant "n" a word becomes offensive to the listener?

What do you think, wise-guy? And do you feel offended when being called a wise-guy? I met some people that clearly were, even though there is nothing wrong with being wise, innit? Do you think it could have got something to do with the intentions the speaker is using this name?

Ohh and if I would call my good friend a nigger I don't think he would be that upset. Back in my punk rock days I didn't mind being called brudas by my friends, even though I would get into a fight if some stranger would call me that.

Love / Do Polish Women age well? [153]

The stunning milfs who have been named here are all actresses.

Do you know any stunning women in their 40/50's that have been working their whole life in a factory? Well there weren't many business women in communist times around here.

Yeah, I guess that Poland of XVIII century could be described as the "sick man of Europe". Just like post soviet Russia is being seen these days by many politicians. It's too early for Poland to help you out but who knows what will happen in a decade or two from now. ;)

History / Famous Russian Poles [243]

This is like affectionate diminutive. Full names are different... Konstantin, Alexander, Evgeniy, Ivan. Sasha and Zhenia could be both female and male btw. Answering why so... well... maybe because Russians in general are very kind (and modest) nation. ;)

Ahh, I see. So why is Sasha a diminutive of Alexander. Strange. But than again, in polish it is Olek.

Do you still think that Russian names have a lack of manhood?

No Sir, I have learned my lesson. BTW, what is wrong with beautiful polish names such as Mysiwór, or Kocipał?! I'm thinking of naming my son one of those names. ;)
