Australia / Have you moved from Australia to Poland? please share your opinion... [43]

So is the Government doing anything about this to put Peace in the region?

I agree with JollyRomek. Chances of Russian-Ukrainian conflict to seriously affect Poland are rather small. You can see that this is a general perception, because people and capital are not fleeing Poland. If they were thinking that there is a big risk, then PLN would be going down to EUR, because everybody would try to sell what they have in Poland.

Polish government cannot do much about this conflict, because Poland is too small. But French and Germans are trying to make a peace. For example yesterday night:

Poland has free education, so if you're ready to send your children to a Polish language public school, then you nearly don't have to pay anything. Usually children repeat one year in order to learn the language. You could move into a neighborhood next to a good school, because children are assigned to the nearest public school from where they live.

Life / Warsaw M2 line? Will it ever run? [8]

It was supposed to be ready and opened few months ago, so it will be probably ready in this year, maximum few years later, because I haven't heard about any serious problems. Your colleges know that dates of finishing major constructions are rarely kept.

Work / SAP Consultant Salaries in Warsaw, Poland. [16]

Translate yourself this salary ranking:
outsourcingportal.pl/pl/userfiles/image/raporty/2015/2/2/raport_placowy2015_s.pdf

You can see there min, max, avg salaries from Hays recruitment company, so what they describe there as Min. is actually maximum in smaller companies or out of the biggest cities. In other words there is written:

SAP Consultant min: 9 000 max: 20 000 median: 13 000

You can understand this, that 13 000 is an average salary in top international (cause these pay usually more) companies in Poland.

Work / Salary for Business Internship Position in Poland? [16]

It seems as if another person was paid $3000 ZL Gross for a job at IBM which is a similar type of company I am talking with.

Programmers earn on average 2 x more than other professions in Poland, so if you are not a programmer, then it doesn't matter that you apply to a similar company. Also he couldn't have been an intern. Anyway just write here their reaction.

Work / Salary Expectation for HCL Senior JAVA Developer with 4 years experience in Poland [66]

There are so many Indians asking the same question, that the answer should be pinned to the top of forum.

1. min. IMHO is 3000zł net, but somebody recently calculated 6000zł net for Wrocław (including private school in English) and I think he was also right.

2: net will be 8427.87zł. No other taxes deducted from your salary.
3: You will be paying for national insurance (it's one of taxes). The company will pay for your private insurance for minor sicknesses. It's good to have.

4: job scenario? job security? If you do your job good then they will probably keep you. There is too little good IT people. If you loose your job, then you have to leave country or find new in 1 month.

5: Nothing will change for your prospect of getting job in Western Europe, except of shorter distance for an interview. You will still need work permit. Except if you work in Poland for 5 years, then you get permanent permit to stay and right to work in EU.

Life / Moving from India to Wroclaw [53]

someone can give some estimate for flight cost, hotel and other expense.

Min 60 eur per day for hotel room for 2 people + child in France and Italy. Buses to Italy and France min 400zł return. Flights with cheap airlines from 40 eur per person (one way) when booked few months in advance. Short train trip there around 10eur per person. Lunch in restaurant min 10 eur per person (without drinks). Daily ticket between 5 and 15 eur per person, depending on city. For Switzerland double all these prices.

As for 6500PLN per month in Wrocław it seems about right. Just note that Poles usually spend less than your Indian friends because know better how to buy stuff cheaper and don't have to pay for private school for children.

Travel / First vacation in Poland [15]

You are aware that Kraków and Gdańsk are at opposite ends of the country, and that will consume two whole days of travel?

With Intercity trains it's 5:20h now: intercity.pl/en

My mom was also disappointed with Częstochowa. My brother called it "Catholic Disneyland".

That term would even more to Licheń:
pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanktuarium_Matki_Bo%C5%BCej_Bolesnej_Kr%C3%B3lowej_Polski_w_Licheniu_Starym

but what about places to eat

Use this website to find good places. There are a lot of reviews of restaurants in Europe, also price ranges and pictures:

Travel / Finding a place to stay in Krakow for a month! Couch surfing. [14]

Are there agencies/websites?

Book through this portal. Do it at least 1 month in advance and from a person with good comments: airbnb.com/s/Krak%C3%B3w--Poland?locale=en

Whilst there I'd like to improve my very elementary Polish by taking classes. Do such things exist? Any websites about these classes?

Just google "polish classes in Kraków":

Real Estate / What are possible price ranges (rent) for studio and 1 bedroom apartments in Krakow? [20]

It is going to be around 1500 including all bills and administration fees

Kraków is more expensive than £ódź. Check this article:

Krakow is the second largest academic center in Poland. But in the ranking of the cost of renting, Warsaw and Wroclaw is ahead. Both demand and supply are maintained at a high level here. Cheapest apartments for rent are in Nowa Huta district and Prokocim. Renting a studio in Nowa Huta costs monthly approx. 900 PLN, respectively 3-room apartment can be rented for 1400 PLN, and Prokocim for 1375 PLN. More than twice as expensive is in the Old Town, Downtown and Grzegórzki.

Life / Planning to relocate to Wroclaw, Poland [17]

, if I do just live off my U.S. pension would residency be easier or more difficult there?

I don't think it matters. You need to get a job in Poland or fulfill one of other conditions in order to get temporary residency permit:

Starting or continuing work in Poland;
Performance of work in an occupation requiring high skills (what does it mean to perform work in an occupation requiring high skills?);
Performance of work by a foreigner delegated to Poland by a foreign employer;
Conducting business activity in Poland;
Starting or continuation of studies in Poland;
Completion of a preparatory course prior to starting education in undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral studies in Polish;
Conducting academic research in Poland;
Visiting family members by a Polish citizen or family member of a foreigner...

migrant/temporary-residence-permit.html

But you can buy permanent residency of other EU country in order to be able staying in Poland:
