Why not both "opłatek" and presents. it's how is actually is.

And in my are it's the angels that bring presents. And that's brilliant because there are many angels, no need for "how does Santa bring all the presents in one night".

Other than "władza ludowa" it seems correct. I think "government" is better translation of "władza " in this sentence. Also "of the people" sounds so innocent while in this context "ludowa" is fuul of communsit/socialist background. As PRL was translated to People's Republic of Poland , I think "people's government" would be better.

The difference between "busia" nad "dziadzia" is that former is mostly unheard in Poland and the latter is - a term really young children, who learn how to speak refer to their grandfathers and a akkusative/genitive form of "dziadzio" common diminutive for dziadek in south-east Poland

it is their slang, words may have those group specific meaning, and also doesn't include polish spelling.

There is something abiut just baiting, about ok class and then sheep, a Bulgarian girl and ...(it could be either about laska/chick - either many girls or great girl(s) or łach - fun, joke)

This is some BS, the person who wrote the words should learn Polish language and grow up (so like you)

while I have no interest in restoring monarchy in Poland, and now nothing about it, at it's end Polish monarchy was to become hereditary, with the 3 May Constitution

The constitution also changed the government from an elective monarchy in its unique Polish variant to a hereditary monarchy. But restoring monarchy in a country that not only has 96 years of more or less democracy, but tradition of electing their rulers for few centuries isn't an idea anybody has.

"Kasia" is usual way to refer to Katarzyna when she is young or a friend, it's short nice form used by anybody who is on first name basic.

"Kaśka" is augmentative not diminutive. It is often used by teenagers to show they are not young and sweet, can used be when referred to someone you don't like. Some people treat this form as usual form to refer to them, some people hate it.

Kasiulka is rarely used , either for a young child or in very close relationship,
Katarzynka is more-less like above

And kotku is not diminutive of Katarzyna, it's kitten. ( could be used like sweetheart, honey)

I don't post like that but I think I would use either full sentence - in present or past (pieczemy ciasto z x , piekłyśmy/piekliśmy ciasto z x)

And you can translate "baking with x" as "pieczenie z X " (noun instead of participle).

the difference between robić i zrobić is called aspect en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammatical_aspect#Slavic_languages

pier..... is a word that can mean anything, and I think you mean zapier.. -dolił (perfecitv), -dalał (imperfective)

And literally I would translate your facebook status : "piekąc ciasto z x I y", but it doesn't feel natural.

It's the first time I've seen or heard of croquettes at the 12 dishes list. Maybe it's because the are so usual , nobody thinks about them as something special, while not as traditional as pierogi. And not healthy like "ryba po grecku"- that I've seen on the diet 12 dishes lists.

Just finished cooking uszka with my mum, we mince mushrooms, and don't add cabbage (that is for cabbage and mushrooms pierogi) and as many recipes suggest we add egg to filling, that way it's easier to make and more survive boiling.

Alo although most people use uszka to barszcz, some add them to other soups, we used to make kwasówka, a soup made with sour cabbage , my friend has żurek with uszka.

Kids sometimes can't handle some meals, while they love other. If you are the person responsible for cooking you can spice it the way you like and choose what you think is the best for your family. There migh be dishes that are not traditional in your family, but are traditional in your region, I think there are at least 100 of different traditional potrawy wigilijne in Poland

With "traditional" Christmas Eve dishes, you take a group of 10 unrelated people who live in the same area, and have roots there and will come with at least 20 dishes. Also the way you count to 12 is pretty arbitrary, is wafer a meal, are different versions of pierogi different meals, what about "uszka", or "kompot".

Contexts is everything!

this is where I point out thet after watching a bit of a video I understand what he wanted to say. But whet then out of context as in dziennik.pl it feels serious. This is why politicians had to say it should be investigated to TVN reporters - because they were given words without context.

Also how good is your Polish? I don't know if I should explain every word to you, some meaning could be lost in translation, and I'm not comfortable discussing this in English, maybe we could move to Polish thread.
