Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

I was browsing for immigration information (planned in far future at present) and this strange and entertaining debate moved me to register. ^_^
I would think the best immigrants in general would be those that can embrace the society instead of need special allowances. Who will assimilate not overpower. Are willing to work or already set in retirement savings. Can accept the Church even if not Catholic themselves.

I know that eventually my paramour will wish to go back to Poland because of his family. He is after all the eldest and only son. So I just want to see how hard it will be to flip back over the atlantic. Specially any children we have in interim will be US citizens. Anyway that was my two cents worth.

(As 1/4 tsalagi..I can tell you how uncontrolled immigration can bury the native ethnotype LOL. I'm a tall white redhead anyway)

Language / Nice Polish phrases to say to men [76]

My BF has also called me kochanie. And I remembered what it could mean from him from a conversation we had long ago over guy say- girl say stuff.

I too would like to learn a "public" endearment. But for now, rather than stumble badly on an unfamiliar Polish term; I in turn call him a Tsalagi term that means "honied" referring to the hue of his hair, skin and his demeanor. It makes him feel special, but not so much as the word that we reserve for "the One" which basically translates and home hearth.

Though I speak mostly english now? it was my 4th language. My growing up I was fluent in Boheme, Portuguese,Euskala, and English, then smattering Tsalagi, German and Castille. Not a single great grand spoke english at all and only one grandparent spoke english unbroken.

I wish to learn Polish eventually in order to communicate with his family when needed though he is more keen on learning English and is fairly fluent. It won't be a problem when I import him to be my "foreign bride" . But I am certain he will wish to return home at some point.

I have a feeling my Boheme is gonna mess up my diction and accent (as well as my US Southernese). Heck, only time I can say his name right is when I'm... er highly distracted. But with the little so far, I'll naturally answer 'ano' before 'tak'.

I would be soooo afraid of wrong endearment. We can be pretty trolly buds.. we were trolly gamer pals for a year. But he is very traditional in RL and conservative. I wouldn't want to say something inappropriate. 0-0

I do know I'll be careful about offering or asking for ice cream! LOL.. Oh my !

Oh I am necormancing this thread! I have setting to live..but wow...2010. Sory Id I wish it could delete >_<

If you move to a Muslim country you can't be offended by all the Muslims wandering around or throw a rock at a mosque.

So since Poland has like ? 90= percent of the citizenry declared Catholic..the same should apply, no?
Accepting catholics being your neighbors and all around is not like your going to go join or want to be one as well. So Why..not? Why be a rebel without a cause?

Food / Irish or English breakfast tea in Poland? [11]

English Breakfast Tea was actually invented be a Scottish tea master named Drysdale. He had idea of marketing his blend as "Breakfast Tea". "English" was added later by London Tea houses.

It is robust , full bodied and "floral" and is supposed to smell of honey when blended with milk. Aroma is important, being most of what we detect as "flavor". Celyon tames it while the caffine from Assaam gives it punch.

Irish tea has less blended and is primarily the heavier Assaam (but can also upset a ladies tummy so early ..unless she takes shots with breakfast >_<)

When not drinking Chamomile or herbal blends; personally I like sweeter tamer Orange Pekoe(dutch black) or White blends in morning and go to heavier Pureh or Oolong in later day

Hope that helps

Food / What do non-Poles think about eating the following Polish foods? [1303]

Now I'm really hungry and no Specialty delicatessan or butcher near.

Except the fish heads.... I don't like my food to stare accusingly. And I don't like having to 'pick at" something.
To flavor a soup maybe.

Oh I so love pickled things and sausages. *sigh*

Love / What do foreign women think of Polish men? [120]

This thread is old but most threads compare female form and features. **takes necromatic candles and lights them**

Until recent the few Polish men I've met are 1/2 + and in US.

Stubborn, Masculine, dry Humor (actually my two most favorites, my Broski (Pole1/2+ Greek/German) and my paramour are even a lil trolly)
Respectful, clever, diligent, obsessed with detail, do not smile wide without coaxing, pessimists, common sense, always thinking about way off future, traditional, romantic & marriage minded (only one pointed that MY way >_< ), serious AND eyeboggling consumers of alcohol (cept my teetotaler)

The ones I knew were all on the thin side, high foreheads (and depating lovely golden locks) with mens faces. Deep expressions, high cheelbones asn most had full kissable mouths. Oh ...all were light haired/eyed. Most pale gold skin.

I find the accent exceptionally sexy. *shrug*

How about a farmer with a cowshed, sty or pond?

Alas no...

Located in FL near the beach at present for the next year. I can surf fish or river fish for ingredients for nice cerviche' or try to smoke it myself.

But I worry about technique in the gawdawful humidity. I could renew my hunting license and bag deer or boar in nearby Georgia with friends again, but I cannot make my own sausage. I do pickle things when I can store the equipment in a larger home.

The nearest Int'l or Eu deli is too far to bike or walk and not on the trans line.

Food / What made in Poland produce would you recommend [110]

My main nickname in life is Ginger Pickles.

I looove pickled foods. Polish product I know I grab from Euro deli is Sezme carkers, pickled Chantrelles, pickled fish. The rest is Candies...specially Chocolates. The store I buy from carries Wedel Ptasie Mleczko and I think the plums are the same brand as above. They also carry the neat PB&J bars. I but all manner of pickles cabbage, vegetables as=nd meats. I like the one regional keilbasa that has finer texture... forget the name. However I have them order me Bayerische Leberwurst, Nuernberg Brats and their variety of Fleisch "kindersausage". I like milk sausage too. Course now I live in a cuban and puerto rican food mecca and find few purveyors of good food. *sigh* Mmmm and gingerbread treats..from torun i think? .oh yum!

I loved being in Germany back in 70s with some cousins (technically dad's 3rd? 4th cousins?) as kid. Ah..tables groaning with potato dishes and cremes and sausages and fresh bread.. *Le Sigh*

now I'm hungry..and want to move

Love / How do guys from Poland flirt? [47]

More romantically than other men. They prefer to play noble knights,

Yep, that is My Wadulsili. Pessimist with the heart of a Paladin!

Took forever to decide to approach.. so veeeeeery proper and cautious. Then, charged in and swept me up!
Once decided=Romantic+Passionate+Direct (in genteel way)

And I have never seen him slovenly.not his environs nor his clothing (his hair now and agian in early mornin).
He is always dressed neatly casual, rarely unshaved..as I ..american sloth ...am often still in my bedclothes until 10-11am

Love / How do guys from Poland flirt? [47]

I always ask the girl if she wants to see my postage stamps collection.

Wadusili? is that you?..... <_<

LOL OMG that is joke I have with BF.....!!!! I told him that certain softer foreign languages (obviously not finnish or russian) Come up and see my stamp collection tonight it can sound sexy!! And so now once in a while when he knows I am unsuspecting he'll asy that ..or some other innocent phrase in "the voice". ^_^

(It stemmed from me trolling a secondary cousin that wanted to say in Portugeuse something that would end rather risque to a guy she barely knew. So I taught her to say "Come up to my place and see my stamp collection tonight"

Venha ateeminha casa hoje a noite... e ver a minha "colecao de selos" *waggle brow* He warms to her tone; has a laugh-broke the ice and he didntthink her a slut based on the somewhat forward american pickup/invite translated would be. I just told her HOW to say it. But I was being really really trolly *blush*..because I had refused her and she insisted)

Love / In Poland - guys opinion about brazilian girls [21]

What do you mean dear, by "Brazilian" girls. The Latina? The Euros? The mixies? All have radically different "looks". It's even more hard to pin than saying "american" girl.

What do they think of....Morenas from Brazil...Latinas from Brazil? Tugas? Bifes? Galegos? Branquelos? ^_^
... and so on. It is near as diverse as the Upper America.
30% of my kin live there.. (both Wies and Baginski. 40 percent are stateside mostly Texas and CA) mostly around Sao Paulo.. some of us go by Bognes/Bagnes/Borges even Borques... But the history is Bohemes named Boginski that came from basque Portugal. So You can call them SA girls after several generations. The rest are around Parana or up in Alagoas. Brasil is even today cut into small mini communities of Germans, Czechs, Basques who are for most part still ethnically pure. My family are also strict catholic and the girls are not allowed to go carousing and flaunting! Not if they want to inherit anything. I almost moved down there a few years back.I love drinking Cocao as if coffee. Mmmmm.

Heh, if what you say is stastical; even my BF may need to poke his head out of college enough to see whats up around him...lol (his home is Bialystok)..it was his comments that made me look on net to see.

Life / What do you generally think about Poles? [62]

Byronic is smexxy... oh ...the question;

I have not met many that I know of. The purebreds I know seem to be worried that..well..they are polish :/

I can say I have so far genuinely clicked with every person of full or 1/2 (still speak in house-cook-etc) descent..long before my BF.

Of those 6 people 4 are brofist kind of closeness..my kin within. My very closest, My Brah is Polish+Greek/German and large than life-twice as sassy.

Once they are not in broody , cautious silence all had witty, dry humor even trolly. Yet still had conservative manners. Conversely to the humor they are pessimistic, serious and ambitious.

page 23 - the lowest-low fertility countries (...) provide highly insufficient child-care support
page 24 - The labor market is also relatively inflexible in terms of possibilities for part-time work or re-entering the labor force after an absence due to child-birth

I would ask what the Church is actively doing to support and assist these couple that "did it right"? Or the community of parish members?

Especially in countries where it is so supported and has so loud a voice. My small catholic church in Arizona rural mtn town actually gave assistance with daycare. I was a volunteer watcher then. No other parish has yet, regardless of size, affluence or region; that I've seen.

I have 3 children at this point of time. 7-15-17. I would likely had 1-2 more if not for CHILDCARE and the high curve of RENTERING WORK FORCE. And I started late so ruined the career I worked a decade to build. I suppose in some regions you can beat this out by having a rapid litter bang-bang-bang straight out of high school and THEN working you career up..IF the default working partner is supportive, stable, mature, grounded and really pulls during the adjustments. So many "IFS". I am in full support of traditional and conservative values. Even if I fell short myself >_<.

But I also would ask what the Church is actively doing to support and assist these couple that "did it right"? Especially in countries where it is so supported and has so loud a voice. When (understanding a "should" since long term planning sometimes can go awry) my dearest and I marry we have spoken of children.

(I am a divorcee. Even now, still having my parish work out how I can be in my position.LOL. The parameters for allowable divorce and remarriage within the Church are met. And then some. BUT There are some criteria that inbue that I was not even considered properly married. So how to not have my children -all baptised-..become bastards overnight is a pickle ^_^ )

News / Beer and cycling - it's time for Poles to act [46]

I am not sure why the OP is all in arms that somehow Poland is an oppressor of idiots who like to get drunk enough to be noticed as under influence; even on bicycles and having laws in effect that protect the general public. BUT many states in the US consider bikes a moving vehicle and they are subject to the same trafic laws as motor vehicles. Technically they are to be on street following traffic and NOT on pedestrian walkway menacing the ones those thoroughfares are intended.

A guy I was dating (and for obviousl reason stopped) was arrested in WA state and jailed and fined for Drunk jaywalking (and nearly causing a bad accident on rainy night) ,public drunk and of course going all angry drunk saying "MY RIGHTS" =resisting arrest. He got an article 15 as well (military sanction).

I had to actually test and get a license to ride my bike to school 3 blocks away as a child under 18 in Burbank CA..a test run by the LA County Sheriff's Dept. back in the 70s. Many states do have requirements to ride on street in certain cities.

Many states have laws against drunk walking and cycling if it is on the road. And if they are safely off road.. it must be surely a bored and diligent (or reading playboy in a dark corner of field) officer to catch them !

I don't drink and operate anything. Boat, Car, Bike..... and I often offered my friends a ride anytime as a designated driver. I love my friends. Even when they are stupid.

and in old days when I wanted to get **** drunk? I hailed a cab or had a friend drop me off.

I say BRAVO! to treating ANY drunk on a road the same. Does it matter if an accident is caused by person behind wheel or in enviroment?

**my exp: US citizen lived in the states of CA WA AZ TX OK TN KY SC NC FL VA MI on and off post** Also am avid cyclist ; former DH Gravity Assist Racer sponsered by Luna bars and Amp and Rolf (don't know it all but know what I was required to do). and bar patron by reason of queen of karaoke/dart team/pool league player

USA, Canada / Do Polish guys like American girls? [103]

My native Polish man certainly seems to find me "Sweeet!" (or would that be swietnie? lol).

And we also met via nerd route 15 months ago. One day thre was a ...wow ..I really LIKE YOU like you moment. Because I am a public personality as radio DJ, he knew all along my age, my appearance. He was shy to reveal his appearnce until the bid in affections was made. And yes. We have real lives. He is attending University in final phase of degree. I need tolook after my mother for a time and 7yr old. We were originally brahskis to the exponential nth degree.

We are muy compatico. Better ; we are Tsaadanvto owenvsv. He is my wadusili. i am "his ginger"
He has girded for battle, thrown the leopardskin on and raises shield and readied to tank the aggro as he slowly informs each important family member of his intentions (and is totally nuked poor dear. He was critted hard and Im still unsure if the DOTs are done!). He near surrendered when he faced the Final Boss "mom"and almost ended it all But I guess a decided Polish man perseveres.

(Word to note. If he is GOOD Polish boy? he is close and respectful to his family. But that also makes them a major obstacle if they disapprove. Oh and especialy if his family is Catholic!)

I don't know if he likes the American in me. I mean in general I must admit sadly that we are becoming in a large portion as a nation last few decades; rather spoiled, indolent, shallow, godless, insolent hedonists with terrible work ethics and consumer mentality instilled (Though blanket statements like the virolic fellow posting earlier is biased, and boorish)

He does like that I am buxom and a redhead (not all guys like redheads). And he does enjoy that we are both trolly. But really we connect on many levels as indivduals that wouldn't be easy to dupicate. He is not a desperate case just waiting to leave Poland ASAP. His family is upper middle class. They paid more on surgery for one of the dogs than I have on my last car. He is only son in family with professor grandparents and some engineers.

Originally the US was not the plan... he is rather different looking than the average and kind of homoginzed Poles that are on that dating site link in"safe dating site" thread. But I like that.

Hmm.Green Card..lol oh yea. Fiancee Visa after his degree and I am keeping him, stealing him away as my Import Mail Order Bride to be my manwife! =^_^= Seriously? it is better he come here first least a few years to sock some major cash back. Then we and our kid(s), shall return to Poland to live. After years as footloose military gypsy, I have no preferences of 'where". I do prefer not to busy and kinda rural and we are in concord there. My youngest needs more specialty schooling here is another factor we considered. I 'll stick out prolly. My kids? meh. I throw nice pups.

BTW :how did two nice young folk end up on Second Life? It is the Simlife style hunting ground of pedos and pervs like my X *makes the 'eeew' face* and kinda boring since it is just open sandbox with an economy. Are you guys on the kid server? Dont ever let his folks know you met there! Oh My! All you need is they google it & just look through skins and poses in marketplace and you would be BRANDED. Heck if just read up a Wiki! *quickly wipes mind with bleach to unsee what she has seen there!* Not everyone in game is a perv..but it is a game that is modded for and caters to. Since back in 2003-4 even when my X was glued there.

The American Right Wing...very often practicing and devout Roman Catholics. Irrational and unchristian.

????

Currently there are 25 Catholics in the United States Senate, 16 Democrats, 9 Republicans, and 134 (out of 435) Catholics in the United States House of Representatives, including the current House Speaker John Boehner. Joseph Biden is a Catholic, the first ever elected Vice President.

the presidential elections of 1928 when the Democrats nominated Al Smith, a Catholic who was defeated

KERRY-CATHOLIC
KENNEDYS-CATHOLICS?

Um maybe you should at least Wiki a little before spouting off. My Catholic family is MOSTLY democrats still putting Santo Kennedy's pic next to Christs! Including the native american tsalagi Catholic(they belived already in a trinity so it was easy conversion- the rest are baptists or animists or combo..lol) part of my kin

See Reagan Democrats (catholics that voted Rep). See the swing votes. More Catholics are republican now in past deacde..but a very small percentage still.

Love / My Girlfriends Decisions! Am I overreacting? British guy with Polish girlfriend. [11]

0_0
What a terribly risky thing to do. So irresponisble. I am not sure how UK goes it. But when in custody battles it is hard enough to not have a wholesome boyfriend or fiancee scrutinized and demonized. For her to have a not well known man like that in the house..and be in a relationship her child is familiar with is tinder for the sparks the oppsoing side throws! Children talk, They are ingenous.

And he is a dangerous person to add!? How can she even think to risk and ongoing case. And the impropriety. And he is obviously an unsavory person. Surely it is not because of just his being Polish? I think I would almost be suspicious of an interest for such a big gamble. Specially timing. A month known. She met him same time she decided to return to you.

And angry at You. Think this. You could be away on business and it could be your child and hers to possibly witness something bad. He did not simply have a row with his girl and need a couch for night (and has he no male buds? really?). I am a woman and I more often lean towards the womans plight. But advise to back away slowly and run at the safety distance. Unless you went low for persoanl insults and put downs for your parting arguemnt-you did NOT overreact. And if you did not accuse her of sleeping with this guy (regardless of what may come to light) then her saying goodbye over it mean that she was that adamant. My close male friends are never a surprise to my realtionship. Nor are they common . and stress over custody- I am meek and low key during battles-fairly or not. My rights to do as an adult will lose everytime agaisnt a court smear campaign. Her priorities are skewed. And she doe snot respect you : (

Study / Times Higher Education rankings 2012 Poland's top universities at end! [93]

The methodology definitely punishes schools that don't have high extracurricular classes or wide variety of study. Also punishes new schools and school added to the list at later dates since it was establishes (this study is ...6 did it say? ). The body are coastal schools and northern ones with m-o-n-e-y

The criteria counts Nobel Prize winners that were associated with the schools yet were often educated elsewhere originally (immigrants and asylum seekers) and became alumni later in their research (which again =funding= monied)

If you look for a "sister" schools to your some of your colleges you'll find they also ranked low. Virgina PolyTech is a respected school but has a specific curriculum.

As for the number of American schools..we are the size PLUS of all europe in just US alone..our schools stretch all the way down the ratings.

Heh, ironically most of the schools that ranked high, also have football & sports teams that are known. Wonder if that is part of their social programs criteria. LOL

((feels a loser..NOT a single one of schools I attended is on the list incl engineering school that would have given acceptance straight to Cape Canaveral job if I had finished degree.. ;_;))

Love / It is more fun to have sex in Polish than in English. Discuss. [27]

Hearing it makes me wanna have sex, but when I have sex, I don't necessarily wanna hear it.

Heh..I must concur!! (Though I'd like to hear it. <_< >_> ^_^ cuz it means I made him forget english !)

And not slavic in general. I did not find my inlaws russian accents sexy, merely interesting. French is sloppy to me, I do not find it that romantic to hear, only the concepts of the archaic poets. Spanish passable if it is Antonio Banderas saying it , LOL.

I loved the soft sounds that are in the Portuguese, Basque and Boheme spoken in my households. Specially the higher tenor intonations of the Boheme men still around as I grew up.

I also like the accents of romanians and hungarians speaking english.

When I was still multilingual before my car wreck, I was not likely to say anything in a learned language like french while..um... occupied with a lover. And better the um... attentions, the less English I could remember. Even now laudable perfomance can still get phrases of Tsalagi, Portuguese or Boheme out of me when I don't barely remember it the rest of time. Some not fit for polite company. Though Tsalagi is big on metaphors.

Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

Our system is abused simply because it is the nature of our country to take in everyone.

Not really anymore... other than the free and easy way of "asylum" or illegals with anchor children. Even tighter since 911.

But even before that my neighbors at Ft Campbell. A russian professional couple that had to downgrade and he was doing military service and still needing the unit support to fight for his wife's visa. Or my dear Slovak freind Janka who married an American. She also had extra woes and requirements.

My German friend however, even divorced, became a citizen in 8 years.

Try being a Pole for example today and simply get a Visa! My BF was treated like a potential terrorist!
OR the poor Australian family from Phoenix Arizona a few years ago who had 4 citizen children and were fighting DEPORTATION after living here, working, paying taxes.. LEGALLY... over 10 years! they were Americans of australian descent by then! You still hear bout stuff like that. Our immigration is actually VERY strict and grueling for many educated caucasion/euro professionals : /

I do agree that a country with a national identity should hang tight to it!

Example: I move to Poland to work -I work and respect local custom. If I immigrate doesn't that mean I want to be Polish at least by design? Don't accomodate me... assimilate me!(even if my accent ends up so atrocious I have to pass notes).

Technically , my dearest's plan is marry, stay stateside, sock money away and then we move to Poland with our commercial art kids.

All for the cause!!! Hahaha....

All sins can be forgiven

"A person who repents of their sin, intends to live a new life of grace, and receives the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be forgiven of all their sins (mortal sins in particular must be confessed in the Sacrament). "

As the ultimate perpetually an permanent sacrifice for sin..Christ has us covered (does not mean vengances, laws of man or other unpleasantries will not affect a murderer. Only that God's relationship has that option; to return to his company. Both by CCC and biblical statutes.)

"A person who dies in mortal sin cannot enter the kingdom of heaven and is doomed to eternal suffering in hell. "

Thre you have it. So don't skip those confessions, eh dude? And try not to get excommunicated?
what are mortal sins? meh not gonna list it. Read St Thomas Aquinas..he spells it out nice and plain and listed. Or go to a Diocese website

( I suspect the previous question was just being trolly..but there is the short answer ,compliments of CCC)

Love / Dating a Polish guy for three years. Will he ever marry me? [44]

It is refreshing and unusual that he is not living with you.
But is that on purpose? And who said no?
Is his family conservative Catholics? Is he shy or..um..unsullied? I assume (as a rowdy american and because his age) he um is active indeed.

I hate to sound pessimistic, after 3 years and not even planing a civil marriage it seems that familiarity may have bred contempt; since he lives near, yes? I don't think marriage to you is in his plans at this point, if ever.

Though generalizing is fraught with error, I will assume he is catholic. I don't think Poles "wait" once they decide THAT girl is to be their wife, even if they only took 3 days to think it.

You do have that his family likes you. That is certainly a boon. But still 3 years and it seems subject was killed when brought up. And you gave no reasons on either side like he wants to finish a degree or get a stable job. Or that you have to wait some court decision out or wanted to wait until one of your children is in school or you want a job. You said to him "but we live in UK" but did not post he gave an answer, There's your sign.

Based on the two Polish men I know well..I would have to say "NO"

Soon as my fella decided we were to be paired. Marriage was subject brought up..by HIM. He has faced adversity from family, doubts, drama...almost backed away to friend zone. Then unlatched the sword and came through shining.

We (He especially-darn pragmatist) have made plans for marriage. How hard it will be or not (I'm divorced with kids but I'm RC and my divorce fit RC criteria to allow remarriage). Who should work, when. Kids? How many? how long in US? return to Poland or retire elsewhere?

My particular fellow is pessimistic, stubborn, serious, pragmatic, and hard working. I can't say if yours is the same. if that is upbringing or ethnic trait. He is also very catholic.

My 'brother from another mother' is agnostic in his personal ways. And he totally pursued relentlessly the only two women he pointed out as "future wife".
