USA, Canada / If you moved from US to Poland, could you please share your experience? [16]

I've made the move the other way not that long ago after several years in Poland and the UK, and based on my own experiences I would argue just the opposite. I too often find customer service here focused purely on going through the motions, rude, half-assed and just plain incompetent. Poland fairs better in my opinion (UK would top the list).

Poland has coal and could be self sufficient using it, but will be told not to to benefit the planet (world leaders), meanwhile always trying to catch up with the latest fad and never getting ahead. Like people who spend to have the latest.

Just cause you use coal doesn't mean you have to pollute. Coal can be liquified or gasified and the carbon dioxide captured. But instead of using its resources Poland chases nuclear energy (go figure).

Having travelled between Poland and English world, I noticed the crossword puzzles in countries outside UK to be fairly low level.

The English are highly literate but I don't know if that's an accurate measure of intelligence. Are they bright?

Most other IQ surveys show that Poland is generally far below most of central and western Europe.

Germany has much more representation in the sciences because they've been politically much more stable than Poland. Poland has been occupied for about a quadzillion years which doesn't encourage research. Poles are intelligent, but it doesn't mean that they're right or they make the right decisions. They've had a difficult time governing themselves over the centuries. But that is no indicator of the populations' intelligence.

America is a very different climate than Europe. A few years ago I was in England around Christmas time and my sister in law had us harvest some brussel sprouts out of the yard (it was late December or early January). In America you can't leave anything on the vine later than September or October. London has the same latitude of Central Canada and look how much more mild the climate is in England. Europe has a much more milder climate and longer growing season, that's why there veggies are so much fresher. In the States everything has to go in storage for the winter.

That's a scam YOUTUBE demeaning formal education. There's a movement afoot trying to get people to quit going to school. They would like people to be uneducated, ignorant, poor and landless. This way you are much easier to politically control. But the fact is (statistics show) that people with college degrees have a much lower unemployment rate than people with high school diplomas.

Your education was not a waste. Ok, you took a job on a manufacturing line? Well you should look at using your degree to get promoted at your current company. Is that possible?

If Poland was smart they'd get out of the Euro and become independent like Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, etc. You've been dominated for 250 years by Germany and Russia, maybe it's time to try something different.

Sorry, but I firmly believe that people who are not financially secure and mature enough to handle simple everyday situations have no reason bringing a child into the world. It's cruel beyond measure. If he were 20, I might be a little more sympathetic. But he's 30, far too old to be acting like a silly child.

nope, couldn't disagree more. First off this guy needs to lay off the the vodka. Secondly, he needs to kick them out of the apartment that he's sharing with his girl. Thirdly he needs to make the most of his relationship with his girl especially since she's having his kid. Yeah they're immature but aren't we all? If they give it a chance they can grow into their relationship and live happily ever after.

There are two Englands, London and the English countryside. After you visit London, rent a car and take the B roads around England and stay in B&B's. Breakfast at the B&B, lunch or dinner at the local pub. Lovely. Oh, BTW which B&B to stay in? When you are ready to settle down for the night go to the local Government tourist shop and ask for a recommendation. This way you'll be assured a nice place (quality of B&B's vary greatly).

You must be from money. The minimum wage in the 1960's was equivalent to over $10/hr. and the world didn't end. Workers need to make more to spend more and circulate money throughout the economy. Our economy is slow due to low wages and no one has money to spend. BTW I'm a business owner, who if he hires someone will be in the $18-$21/hr. range.

It has everything to do with it. It's how you perceive the world. Wealthy people obsess over the value of their currency. The problem we have in the economy now (not just in the US but worldwide) is a lack of demand. Deflation not inflation. Raising the minimum wage will increase demand. Hint, Henry Ford doubled the pay of his workers in 1915 so that they could afford to buy the cars he was building, thereby increasing demand.

It doesn't help the economy when Wal Mart pays so low that the workers qualify for food stamps. That's a huge subsidy for business and contradicts the "Free Market".

As for paying fast food workers, I would have to look at their profit/loss statement. But there is something to be said for a quality workforce, that is paid well enough to hang around.

Work / English lad looking for work in Poland [39]

The only place for Working class English for jobs is the USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. Fly to the States and get a job and somebody might be able to sponsor you. If the Mexicans can do it the English certainly can. The place right now is the oil fields of North Dakota where they have an extreme shortage of strong backs.
