I have a cleaning lady from B and she's the best. And I don't only mean that she cleans well but that she is the most trustful and friendly person you can imagine. Oh, and my dad was born in what is now Belarus, near Grodno. Also, near Bialystok there live some ethnic Belarus folk - I stayed at one elderly lady's place last summer for a night or two and she was the best company to talk to as well as drink wine and vodka with. Overall, B must have some of the nicest people in it, just feel sorry you guys are not in EU with us.

The word "wciąż" implies "persevere" whereas "jeszcze" implies only "still". And so, by using "wciąż" you mean that you still (for example) "work there" and yet you are not endangared but at the same time you are not peculiarly happy about working there. If I used "jeszcze", I would mean that I am "working there" but I may (or may not) be on my way out, voluntarily or not.

From what I know, compensations for those assets were being dispensed already under communist governments. My parents' neighbors received a nice plot of land in the center of town for that matter. Do I think everyone got compensated nicely and fairly? Probably not. After all, no compensation was given for palaces or estates or for those who rotted in Siberia or (when lucky) escaped Soviet Union with the Anders' Army....

Nie umiem po rosyjsku is acceptable - but it is not standard educated Polish. Nie znam rosyjskiego would be better. Or: Nie umiem mówić po rosyjsku - is also correct. However if you use it, 90% of my compatriots would not even blink an eye.

Nie potrafię razem iść do kina - sounds weird and no one would say that. Mind you, "potrafię" means (more or less) "to know how to do sth". Check these out:

Nie potrafię zawiązać krawata.
Nie potrafię mówić tak płynnie jak ty.
Potrafię policzyć do stu po angielsku.
Potrafię zreperować auto.

You can travel at any time, before or after "90 days" - it's a free country. Now if you have no residence here then going to Ukraine or Belarus would be an option as you get a stamp from them on the border. However painful that experience could be....

Really, like I said my friend's application was processed by the LA consulate. No problems, no lines. It was supposed to take 6 months and so it did. No lawyers involved.
