Jeszcze or wciaz?

I was speaking to my polish friend the other day about these words and I need some clarification...
When using the word "still" as in, "I still work here" or "I'm still learning polish" she said that the word wciąż would just sound weird.

What is the real difference between these words? The way I see it, they seem interchangeable.

Thanks for the help!

jeszcze - yet (used with negative verbs)
Nie zrobiłem jeszcze zadania domowego. – I haven't done my homework yet.

wciąż - still (up to a time, as in the preceding time)

The word "wciąż" implies "persevere" whereas "jeszcze" implies only "still". And so, by using "wciąż" you mean that you still (for example) "work there" and yet you are not endangared but at the same time you are not peculiarly happy about working there. If I used "jeszcze", I would mean that I am "working there" but I may (or may not) be on my way out, voluntarily or not.

The word "wciąż" implies "persevere" whereas "jeszcze" implies only "still".

I'd say that 'wciąż' just adds some emotions to your expression, while 'jeszcze' only indicates the 'timing'. E.g.:

Wciąż ci cię chce tu pracować?
Do you still want to work here? (even though nobody else wants...)

Tyle razy ci to mówiłem, a ty wciąż nie pamiętasz!
I told you it so many times, but you still don't remember!

'Wciąż' also may mean 'always' e.g.:

Wciąż ci powtarzam, nie pij tyle!
I always tell you, dont' drink so much!

you shoudl also know that wciąż = ciągle e.g.:

Ciągle pada i pada...
It's still raining and raining...

I have to disagree. "Wciąż" doesn't neccesarily imply any emotions.

"Wciąż uczę się polskiego" may just mean "I am learning Polish and I am not yet proficient". And it doesn't sound any weirder than "jeszcze".

It does. See that:

- Czy on już wrócił?
- Nie, jeszcze go nie ma.

vs.

- Czy on już wrócił?
- Nie, wciąż go nie ma... (hmm, did anything bad happen?)

Don't you feel the fear in the last sentence ?
