And "dzięks" instead of dziękuję has been around for ages and is restricted to very informal use.

Life / SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT POLAND AND POLISH SOCIETY [297]

I've been living in Poland most of my life, which is quite long. I know Polish people. I don't recall a single reaction like 'nah, this is some foreign sh1t, I am not eating it'. Quite to the contrary. And this approach is traditional, that's why Polish kitchen is so rich.

I dont agree - I am Polish myself and what pisses me off sometimes that Poles would rather go every day to Polish restaurant with Polish food rather than trying something new. As it was said already they are sticking to what they know and they are looking at new things with caution. Not every Pole is like that, of course but lots and lots if not majority.

Love / Love without chemistry? (Asian in love with a Polish woman) [195]

I think you all people are right. There are many kinds of relationships. Some people fall in love madly after second or third date, some people build their relationship over time, they realise they love a person after being friends for many years. But what zuczek said is right - if a relationship is to be for long term it needs to be based on friendship. You can be physically attracted to someone whom u dont trust but in long run you cant make a working relationship with the person. In any case there needs to be physical attraction; for some people it come with time, some people are attracted straight away, again - it depends on the people.

Life / Languages understandable by Poles? [38]

Not quite as well as we think we can

Well, yes but i have Czech friend and we communicate using Czech and Polish with some English words when the word doesnt exist in one of languages or has different meaning (like eg czerwiec or szukac).

Life / Languages understandable by Poles? [38]

Are you sure? Because I only know a little Polish and I can understand spoken Russian a bit.

Maybe you only think that you can understand Russian coz there are lots of words which sound similar and in fact they have totally different meaning. And yes, i am sure Poles cant talk with Russians using their own languages (i am native Polish speaker).

We can communicate quite easly with Czechs and Slovaks (similarly as Italians with Spanish speakers) but there are also words which sounds the same or almost the same and have different meanings which is confusing and sometimes err embarassing :D

Lithuanians

Ukrainians

Law / RC annulment procedure in Poland [13]

I think you should seek help of lawyer (the canon law lawyer, not the civil one). He would be able to help you. They are more knowlegeable about all the tricks than any member of this forum, i can imagine.

abandon my ridiculous thoughts of being loved again

Don't be so harsh on yourself. Everyone deserves to be loved, certainly you too deserve it, no matter what a*holes you met earlier in your life.

How old were you when you got married? did your parents want you to get married?

I really would advice you to search professional help and try to sort this out.

Law / RC annulment procedure in Poland [13]

I know people who had 7 kids and got the annulment

That leaves the question about why people need the annulment in the first place if they dont really care about the faith. I mean, if you do everything just to get annulment surely u must know deep inside in ur heart that you are just cheating to get a piece of paper. I dont see any sense in it, tbh...

Law / RC annulment procedure in Poland [13]

If you want ur marriage to be annuled there needed to be things which would make the marriage being unlawful in the first place (like if someone forced u to marry him etc). It doesnt matter what happened afterwards and certainly the annulment cant be made coz he left you for another woman.

As torq said in RC there is no divorce, you can get ur marriage annuled only.

Law / Can I come to Poland with my girlfriend on the student visa as a dependent? [40]

And why does being black or white make a difference ?

No one said anything about being black or white or green. They were just being honest - a person who doesnt speak proper English, without the knowledge of Polish language and without money will not be able to survive in Poland on STUDENT visa. Add to that his girlfriend. And after all England is 2 hours by plane only and not 12 hours or more.

Food / MAKE TWARóG (Polish curd cheese) AT HOME [8]

I have access to fresh milk from our cousins dairy. This is not pastuerized. Can this be utilized as a base for twaróg or do I have to go with a pasturized milk?

Non-pasteurised. Twarog or butter is nothing but fat so u need milk with high level of fat.

History / The Two Saddest Nations on Earth... Poles and Jews [171]

I dont know where all you people got experiences with Jews - i certainly dont know anyone who would be Jew (i m talking about BEING a Jew, not about the situation when someone thinks a person is Jew coz has big nose etc). Of course I've seen them on the streets etc but have never spoke to any. I guess most Poles have the same experience as me (none) - there were lots of Jews in Poland but not any more.
