Love / Do I move from UK to Poland or not? (I met a Polish lady) [21]

Men who aren't scum of the earth would hate such an arrangement.

Bit harsh

If I knew I didn't have to work and someone would pay for everything for me I wouldn't think twice about quitting work and being a stay-at-home dad

I'd try and bring in a little money thru internet stuff but yea, give me the chance to quit a 40 hour work week and I'd be gone quicker than a hot snot

Travel / Returning to Poland after 20 years in America [18]

You think it's bad in America?
I think you need to follow up on what those horrible sh!tgibbon PiS are doing to democract in your homeland coz if anything, Trump is following their playbook and they're more than a year ahead of him

Oh and the air pollution is giving people lung cancer on a daily basis

There's a reason so many Poles leave Poland and never return, think about it.

Real Estate / 100% LTV Mortgage on a purchase of an apartment in Krakow, Poland [4]

Is that true?

yep, pretty much exactly what cms says.

What some people do it get the 80% mortgage and a normal loan for the other 20%, but you'll be crucified with interest paying two loans back.

you won't get a 100% mortgage though

Feedback / Content of Polishforum deteriorating? [86]

Certainly, it's terrible. Polly has free reign and it has pretty much killed this forum. spam/poland is far better

Love / Wedding after engagement in Poland [8]

it is in the Polish catholic society important to have weeding in one year after getting enganged?

no, Polish people usually get engaged when the woman falls pregnant, so it's 9 months at most, usually 6

But seriously, no, whoever told you that is yanking your crank

Genealogy / Are Silesians people German/Germanic? [178]

After a member of your family will die in a terrorist attack in their own peaceful country then you'll start understanding.

HAhaha!!!

I'm from Ireland sweetheart, I can teach you all about terrorism.

Now, either get back on topic or FO

What else Silesians can be if not Slavs?

Celts, I've just shown you that, if you really want this to be the year of facts then accept them :)

Genealogy / Are Silesians people German/Germanic? [178]

If the Silesians are of Celtic origin, then by this logic so are most Germans aka Rhinelanders and Bavarians:-)

Yea, that's true

Sure, we're all immigrants really anyway, I don't get why people don't like immigrants, if your family have been in the same place since the start you're immensely inbred

Life / Cost of living in Katowice, Poland [53]

Having said that Poland is one of the safest countries in Europe :), although of course Crime does exist here like everywhere else

Oh absolutely; I suppose I was thinking in cases of personal security, assaults, murders, rapes etc. Poland's murder rate is really small compared to where I'm from; Ireland , the same goes for assaults and rapes; I thin the reason for this is so many assaults are related to drink in Ireland, while in Poland people drink as much (maybe more) but Poland doesn't have stupid licensing laws

But I agree, Poland is certainly a very safe country.
I was hit once, but it was a case of mistaken identity and the guy apologised and bought me a few pints. Had a bit of a shiner for a few days but y'know sh!t happens

Life / Cost of living in Katowice, Poland [53]

Katowice has crime rate above average

Does it?
I'm quite surprised by that, Kato is probably the safest place I've ever lived, have heard of some stabbings and assaults but nothing compared to bigger cities, I'd have thought Warsaw/Wroclaw were far worse, could be wrong though, but AFAIC it's pretty safe............except the driving, but that's just standard for Poland :D

I relocated from Olsztyn

To Katowice? And you, you're wife and a kid live on 2500zl per month?
G'way outta that ya messer

Life / Cost of living in Katowice, Poland [53]

The salary I have been offered is $2000/month.

If you're wife is going to work here then yea, you'll be fine, if she's not going to work then it's pretty average coz you'll be getting about 8-9000zl per month and split between 2 people that's 4000-4500zl per month which is not far above average.

In other words, you'll have an average lifestyle here, do you really move half way around the world to live in a Catholic, semi-dictatorship with average wages?

Tell them you want double

Numbeo is a good site for cost of living stats:

Food / Christmas pudding in Poland [22]

Don't be minding them food snobs :D :D :D

Here's an authentic Wexford recipe:

175g self raising flour, which is impossible to get here, so get the flour that used for cakes not the crap they use for pierogi

Teaspoon of mixed spice, teaspoon of ground cinnamon, half teaspoon of nutmeg.
225g white breadcrumbs
350g of brown sugar
450g currants
225g raisins
225g sultanas
125g mixed peel
125 g cherries
225 dried peaches
100g mixed nuts
50g of ground almonds rind and juice of an orange
225g margarine melted and cooled (3 large eggs some brandy or whiskey 275ml of stout beaten together).

To Make put flour and spices in a large bowl
Add breadcrumbs, Sugar, almonds, nuts, orange peel and juice and cherries and fruit
Mix well together
Make a well in centre and mix in the cooled margarine and egg mixture
Leave to stand overnight as the mixture thickens overnight then put into greased bowls
To cook: place bowl in large pot with water coming about 3/4 to the top of the bowl, cover the bowl with greaseproof paper, bring water to boil and then simmer for about 8 hours

When done throw another shot of whiskey on it and you're done

Happy cooking

News / Poland refuses to give jobs to British [19]

If you were lucy to get a job, you will notice how your work collagues treat you! You will be leaving sooner or later.

I certainly hope you didn't come to Poland and try to be an English teacher :D :D

And please don't say

work collagues

a colleague is someone you work with so putting 'work' in front of it is pointless.
